My partner and I stayed 5 nights at this pleasant, quiet motel.
Our room was spotlessly clean, the views across one of the deepest harbours in the world were just beautiful, the staff and owner Costa couldn’t have been more helpful .
Even though it is conveniently on the Prince’s highway there is little if any road noise and there is heaps of parking space . My partner was able to park his large caravan and 4 WD just outside our room and I was able to park my car immediately at the front door to our room.
There were all facils including air conditioning.
I find it hard to understand how some have given this place low ratings. We are both well travelled both within Australia and overseas and to find a reasonably priced motel with world class views that is clean and provides all amenities as well as peace and quiet is a rare thing .
Thank you Costa and your lovely staff
Heather and Lawrie

Lovely and quaint. I really enjoyed our one night here and the view of the lake was really restful. Best shower ever and the bed very comfortable.
The owners of the motor inn made you feel very welcome and comfortable, it was sad to head off after just one nights stay.

We stayed for 3 nights. The owners is a very friendly and helpful chap. The views of the water are great. The place is just old and ages. Things rusting and needs some love. The last day we were there the room was missed but when brought to the attention of the owner he quickly got us fresh towels. I wouldn’t stay again.

Although I can’t complain about the service at all, I feel it is my duty to write an honest review about this Motel.

I stayed here for three nights around the time of the bushfires in Gippsland in 2019. The management increased their prices for me (and probably other guests) during a period of crisis. This is disgusting and really disappointing.

I understand that this motel relies on tourism for an income but taking advantage of people when they are vulnerable and fleeing life threatening environmental hazards is wrong.

The place is old. No air con, no pool, nothing. Out of town so you have to drive to everything. Overpriced for what it is. I had to get up and fix the fan that was making a terrible noise. There isn't anywhere really to sit outside the room. Man who manages the place is nice enough, Stay is you are desperate but otherwise look closer to town.

We stayed one night in the Bayview Motor Inn. Cheap room, but very very clean and neat. The staff were very friendly. We left behind a few items by accident and the staff went out of their way to post them back to us in Melbourne, which was very kind of them. Very good experience.

I’d rather stay in my car!
Filthy pig sty. Pretty sure the sheets are re used. Mould in the showers and nothing to clean your hands with.
Looked this guy up, the owner, many motels- even house maids don’t like him.
He pays cash!

We booked into the Bayview Motor Inn at Eden for 2 nights (Wed 28th Dec to Fri 30th Dec 2016) and we were looking forward to staying at Eden on our way back from Canberra to Melbourne after Christmas with family in Canberra.

When we arrived at the Bayview Motor Inn at 4:20pm on Wednesday to check in we were greeted by Costa (the owner). He reported that the airconditioner in our room was not working but, due to the holiday period, he had not managed to get it fixed. We complained but, with no other rooms available, we had no choice but to stay at Bayview and take the only room available.

We were allocated Room 20 which is down the end of a dirty corridor (photo attached) and is in a disgusting condition. The curtains are hanging off the rail and do not cover the windows, the bathroom is dirty and has a cracked sink, the room itself was dirty and we could wipe black grime off the shelf above the beds.

There was a standing fan in the room which disintegrated after about 1 hours use - literally disintegrated and fell apart in front of our eyes.

Costa, the owner, appeared not to care for the disgusting state of the room and offered us no recompense (either in the form of a discount or in the form of any offer to clean or make good the room). In fact when we went to check out he was "off swimming", according to his friends outside reception. The impression we got was of a motel owner/manager that neither cared about the state of his motel nor about the comfort of his guests.

We decided to leave after 1 night and it was, possibly, one of the most uncomfortable motel nights, lying in bed wondering what bugs or things would next appear or disintegrate before our eyes.

Response from Costa's S, Owner at Bayview Motor Inn
Responded 6 Jan 2017
Sorry for you uncomfortable stay, but we do not advertise that we have air condition in any of our rooms, but we had just had installed 2 new air conditioners. A connection was not done properly in one room and we could not get the electrician out to fix it. There is a ceiling fan in the room, and we did give an extra fan on the stand which unfortunately did break. We did refund for the second night on the day you arrived. Yes, Costa was not at reception when you left and did go for his morning swim, but he is there for the rest of the day and night. Surely 1/2 half off in the morning is allowed. Costa does care for his guests, and tries to help with giving information what to see and do, and finds out where they are heading the next day to try and give my help with what to see on the way to there next destination. Yes the corridor and the curtains were not up to standard, but everything has been done to fix it. Also, the air conditioner has also been fixed.

We had pre-booked a room at the Bayview Motel during the christmas season as part of our trip to Australia traveling from Sydney to Melbourne by car. The reviews seemed ok and the pictures looked good, so imagine our shock when we arrived. I had my suspicions as we drove in to the property, but when we got our keys to the room and opened the door, we were floored.

The views are indeed nice, but the rickety windows and windowscreens that have bent frames and seem to have had someone try to claw their way out makes it hard to appreciate it. It seemed safer to leave the luggage in the car than take it into the room. The bed was thoroughly uninviting, so much so that we couldn't stand the idea of crawling into it... The bathroom at the rest-stop we had just been to seemed more inviting than the bathroom in the room.

We didn't feel safe and we didn't feel comfortable and couldn't stand the idea of actually sleeping there, a first for us having travelled all around the world sleeping in all manner of places, so we mutually decided that there was no way we could sleep there after heading in to the strangely disappointing town of Eden (which has so much potential!) to try to find some food (and ultimately settling for pizza when we would've loved a good meal at a restaurant).

The owner had been smart and had charged us the price of the room at check-in, so when we returned to inform them of a change of plans (we had found a room at the Best Western down the street), he informed us there was nothing he could do and he couldn't refund any part of the exorbitant $140AUD price (should be a $19.95 motel) for our one night of stay (BW was $10 cheaper and it was actually clean and safe feeling).

Needless to say, we're very disappointed and recommend it's probably best to skip Eden all together. There were other people staying at the Bayview motel, so it's probably ok for some, but for us it was unacceptable. And to be clear, we've stayed in back-packing hotels all around south-east asia with no problem, but couldn't handle this one... Stay at your own risk, and maybe you'll write a positive review like some, but we would not recommend it to anyone.

Booked 2 rooms online, should have researched more reviews.
Place is very dated, no A/C in the rooms, vertical blinds need replacing.
Veranda has had tiles partly removed, not game to touch the hand rail, missing a lot of bolts. Concrete appears to be crumbling.
