This B&B closed last June (2015). Here's the owners' farewell: The Oakwood Inn Bed and Breakfast closed its doors on June 1st, 2015. It was a very tough decision and we thought it through for several months before the final decision was made. We would like to thank the many guests that have come through our doors as strangers and...

Having landed only a few hours before from London (UK) in Raleigh and collected a car, we were looking forward to settle down - jet-lagged and rather tired. Driving through the Oakwood historic district gave us great hope for our choice of bed and breakfast. And the welcome of the inn-keeper, Doris, certainly confirmed that we had made the right...

What a friendly place and what a nice change from the hotel chains! The inn is a 100+ old building in the historic part of the city with all the old world charm ....but with fully modern facilities. Wifi, gas fireplace, modern (though a tad small) bathrooms, great beds and ... I had the East room facing the road and...

We were in Raleigh for a meeting and stayed in the Oakwood Inn B&B for 2 nights. The room was a nice size that had its own private bath that was recently redone. My only disappointment was that our room was right by the office and there was a tremendous amount of noise at certain times. Breakfast was excellent and...

We had a wonderful stay in Raleigh at the Oakwood Inn. We traveled with 2 other couples and enjoyed the hospitality of the owners of this lovely B & B. We had a delicious breakfast each morning and we relaxed in the parlor in the evening. The rooms were very comfortable, each with their own bathroom as well as a...

This B&B was great! It is walking distance to downtown. We were able to take a downtown food tour and hit the Christmas festival then come back to this B&B. The in room fireplace was great! Also, the retrofitted toilet was a nice touch. Breakfast in the morning was delicious! We would stay here again!

Beginning a bed and breakfast experience with a problem sets everything off in the wrong direction. I was given a gift certificate and attempted to use it at this inn. I indicated that on my application. I also indicated our food limitations. When I emailed about our arrival time I was told using my gift certificate would be a problem...

This is a wonderful neighborhood, with nice craftsman style houses being renovated everywhere. Shady, charming streets. We had a ground floor room, generous in size, with plenty of seating. The bathroom was very large, and quite luxurious.

After three days camping in the Smokies, my wife and I scheduled a night at the Oakwood. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. Doris meet us us at the door, welcomed us in, and showed us to our room. We were also greeted by her dog, which is very friendly. Our room was wonderful, nice walk...

“We stayed in the Lane Room. It was small but worked for us as all we did was sleep. I will note that there is a claw foot tub and the way the shower curtain hangs it can be a bit tight to shower. Did not bother me as I only need hot water :)”

“My only caveats to a couple deciding on a room at this inn has to do with the tub and TV. This particular room has a historical clawfoot tub which is too small for a couple to use together and the TV is located in a very awkward spot making it fine for catching the news, but not the greatest for watching a movie in bed.”
