Detailed Reviews
Staff was very accommodating as we did not like the site that was assigned. I was surprised that the sites were not more level. They were not far off but with the amount of sites I expected not to adjust the camper. Some sites are tight but there is a lot of things to do here. Of course Covid has stopped a lot of things but the stream is quite nice. It took us about 40 minutes to get to grandfather mountain

we stayed at this campground for the first time this weekend. We came in on Thursday July 24th and left on Sunday the 27th. It looked like it was going to be a lot of fun, with the "beach" area and the water slide. My first issue is that the name of this campground is Steele Creek "family" Campground. Be aware that they consider a "family" to be only two people. You WILL be charged and additional $3 per night for each additional person. The next issue is that the Slide cost is $10 per person for only an hour and a half of play time. The mini golf is $3 per person. The tube rental is $5 per person. We were able to enjoy the free beach area on Thursday but no chance of finding a spot there on Friday and Saturday due to all the locals coming in for day trips. I can see how a campground would want to offset costs of upkeep by allowing non-campers to come in and enjoy the "amenities" that are offered to campers. It becomes an issue when your campers can't even enjoy the beach area due to the overcrowding from the public and would be better for campers if you excluded access to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday when you probably have the highest volume of campers. Then we have the pool which is a joke, the pool is quite small and you have to walk up a small side road that has cardboard signs stating that no bikes allowed on the road to the pool. When you crest the top of the hill where the pool is located you are greeted by an old broken down motorhome that no one has bothered to remove. The pool has no chairs, and no tables/umbrellas. You get to sit on your towel on the concrete amongst the ants and look at the disabled motorhome. Great view! Now on to the Bath house, there are over 300 sites here and as far as I could tell only 3 bath houses that look like they were built in the 50's and still have the original plumbing. there are only two toilets/two showers per bath house so that is 6 toilets/6 showers for over three hundred sites?!?! oh, I forgot there are Port-a-Potties placed here and there throughout the campground. That's nice. The shower doors are all but falling off the hinges, no benches to sit your bag on, there is a hook but its hanging on with a hope and prayer. The shower has a button that you push in to turn on the water, well you get about a minute into the shower and the water stops so you have to push it again and again and again after each minute interval. That is ridiculous. I am not sorry that we went as the site we had was beautiful, the area is beautiful and we had a creek site which was the saving grace for this campground. If we had not had the creek to play in we would not have stayed for the weekend. The sad part is that this campground could be great and probably was back in the day, but seriously the owners need to invest some of the money they are raking in by charging for everything and update this property! We will not be staying here ever again.

Steele creek is the RV dream. Plenty to do for the kids and adults. Close to the BRP and several stores. You can drive 30 minutes and be in Linville or see grandfather mtn. Sites are level with plenty of water for the kids. Water is cool in the main swim area but, luke warm in the shallower streams around camp. Nice time for all. Be sure to bring a float

This is a standard RV park on a river.
On my most recent visit, the staff would not allow me to check in because they couldn't find my parking pass.
Rather than resolving the issue with a little common sense and customer service, my four year old daughter and I, who had driven over an hour to get there, were instructed to leave. There is no cell service, yet the staff refused to allow me speak to someone at my party's campsite, or even deliver a message to inform them that I was there. Awful experience.

I do love the campground, I love the creek, The prices are not bad, But the people who Own/work there. Are not nice, Acted like it pissed him off just to show us to our site. They act like they don't care if you stay there or not. And rather than let people bring a golf cart to get around the park. Most all campgrounds allow golf carts. They have everybody driving their cars & trucks through the park all the time. Like one young boy driving a loud VW bug back and fourth to the store just cruising all day long. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me,

I'm disappointed in the management at the Steele Creek Campground. Two of my friends and I rode our motorcycles 81 miles one way to see this campground. We were planning on camping here this fall. Arriving at 11:00am Friday morning, the young man at the gate was very nice, but said they didn't like people to ride through on busy weekends. He checked with someone and confirmed we could not go through. He said we could come back next week on a weekday. I told him "that's okay I won't be back."
I would have thought that management would be glad to have people Interestef in their campground. If the motorcycles were the problem, they could have offered to show us by taking us in their golf cart. By the way, Friday is a weekday, and how many times a day do they get requesting a look?
It didn't appear to me they are customer service minded at all.

The staff were not all of that helpful. We were given a map and told to go set up on the island. We crossed the bridge and began setting up. After an hour, when we were almost finished, the manager said we could not set up where ae were. We had to move to a small cramped spot that was very dirty. The restrooms were not clean. The water was nice but you could not fish unless you went 2 miles up stream. It was over crowded and we were not there on a holiday.

Loved everything about this campground. Great location, lots of kid friendly activities, beautiful creek running through, camp store had everything you need with reasonable pricing. Saturday night has family friendly music and dancing, and they even have a church service on Sunday morning. Definitely will be back.

We went camping here July 29-31. We had 6 kids with us for this trip. Now for me, camping site were way to close together. This is def a campground that gets packed out and you are very close to your neighbors, that being said, the kids had a ball the entire time. They have a swim hole with a diving board, a water slide (although this is $10 a day and our kids cared more about the swim hole than that, skip it for savings), there was an arcade and the ice cream at the store was a huge hit with them, there is also a small pool for people who prefer not to swim in the creek. They would leave out after breakfast and we wouldn't see them again until they were hungry. The adults, well, it was pretty crowded like I said, so we didn't get a spot on the creek, we did carry our chairs down there and sat in the creek for awhile but mostly we hung out at camp. We did not encounter anyone who was rude, as the previous comments suggested, they do ride around in golfcarts but if you are not being ridiculous they pretty much leave you alone. Also on Sat nights they have a dance in the pavilion for everyone. That was pretty neat. Overall, if it were just me without kids, I would find somewhere more private, but with kids (our kids ranged from 12-17) it was pretty much perfect. A tip would be, try to go during the week, Sunday it clears out and the creek sites are wide open. My only major complaint is the bathrooms and showers. They were horrid, the water pressure was a joke and really for how much business they do, I think they should upgrade the restrooms ASAP.

If you post rules for a "Family" campground, enforce them. Teens throwing rocks ftom one side t9 5ge other towards people. Pre-teen yling fbombs, 3 adults jumping simultaneously on an 8 yr old girl without apologizing. Same group the park had ask to rurn done their rap. Yet, management did nothing for the patrons that were respectful, and be violated. Lost us and all our friends $ for life. Fyi this all happened on 1 bad trip, and our family has been going for 22 yrs. Pitiful
