This is a nice property with a pleasant staff. The beds were comfortable, everything seemed clean and smelled fresh and they were working really hard to show the accommodations they were making for covid compliance. i.e. tags on the room doors, tags in the bathrooms, a hostess serving breakfast so guests aren't touching everything. And they handled it all with patience!

Hotel conveniently located near freeway. Friendly and helpful staff. Internet speed well. Room cleaning is good. Coffee is fresh and continental breakfast is satisfactory. At night, the staff stocked eating area with popcorn that was put in the fun red and white style popcorn boxes, very nice!

In making our reservations I had cancelled one night and rebooked for an earlier night. Hilton's correspondence left some doubt in our mind as to whether the first reservation was cancelled. Railey took my phone call and confirmed that the first reservation had indeed been cancelled and the correct night reserved. She also assisted in noting our preferences for a room.
On our arrival we were cheerfully greeted and issued our room key cards. However, I had to ask about the snacks/drink for qualifying rewards members. I was then given the choice of one brand of cookies and Diet Coke or water. The coffee urns had coffee that had not been heated on sometime, possibly since breakfast.
Our room was clean but of the style that the desk was situated so that one occupying the chair at the desk was directly in the flow of the HVAC without any way of deflecting the vents. An alternate table designed to be used as a lap top stand at a chair was available (without the additional area of the desk).
For guests needing to park larger and articulated vehicles the hotel does have a graveled lot attached that can even accommodate semi-trailer rigs. This also provides a nice area for one wishing to get in a walk. The bathroom toilet did have solid, heavy duty seat & lid and the shower plenty of pressure to wash one clean. The complimentary breakfast was adequate and flavorful with ample variety of cold and hot items.
There was some construction taking place during our stay that did not affect our comfort. It looked like the snack bar area was being renovated but we were not present during any of the work.

I stay in hotels 6 to 9 months out of the year. This facility was one of the cleanest: the pillows did not smell like old sweat, the bed did not have a funky odor, the toilet was white without any stains, the shower was void of any foreign hairs left behind before my shower, the shower did not have any visible mold growth, the walls/doors did not have hands stains, the remote control did not leave a stain on the cleaning wipes, and the window coverings were clean as well as functioning properly. A great place to stay. I was able to rest in clean comfort. The location is a bit off from the highway exits, but well worth the few extra moments drive.

+1
As others reviewers online have stated… Do not judge this hotel by the exterior. My wife and I stayed at the Hampton Inn for a pleasure trip over the Thanksgiving holiday. The interior was clean, bright and decorated for Christmas. The staff was exceptionally friendly and suggested several restaurants and activities to enjoy while in the area. The room was clean and in good repair, as were the fixtures. The arrangement made sense and the room flowed with little impediments. The television was massive and had an external HDMI pigtail attached to hook up a personal device. A nice touch in the room was the coat rack on the wall near the door. The rack was very useful and well placed. The only issue I had with the bathroom is that there was no retractable drying line installed. That is always a welcome touch at a hotel with a pool to dry swimming suits on. This would be a very inexpensive thing to add to each room. The breakfast area was kept well stocked and clean with a different breakfast on each of the two days. The pool and hot tub were nice and INDOORS which is always a plus during the colder months. The pool area was kept clean with some relatively small towels to dry off with. TIP: Bring the towel from your room or a beach towel. You most likely will not be able to wrap these around yourself. Given the price point and level of the hotel, it earns 5 stars. I would stay here again and plan to my next trip to the area.

We wanted to stay in the NC mountains, and I thought it would be a good idea to stay somewhere less expensive than the Asheville area. It was a toss up between Boone, Black Mountain, and Marion. I researched the distance between the places we wanted to visit and the the things we wanted to do, and I then narrowed it down to Marion. This location was off I-40, and I guessed that from the GPS directions that it would be far enough off the interstate to have reduced road noise as this was a major complaint for the Black Mountain Hampton Inn location. I listened to the TA reviews, but what else can you do? If you are a light sleeper like me, then Marion or Black Mountain Hampton Inns are not good choices. I personally do not plan to stay at this location again. I would just stay in Asheville or Boone. That's where most of the attractions are anyhow.
Pros:
It was convenient, but we still did a lot of driving "to Asheville."
The breakfast was very good. The waffles were up in the top 10% of all the waffles I've ever had at the Hilton chain.
Cons:
The breakfast attendants were not friendly.
Road noise is medium-high because it is adjacent to I-40. The air unit helped some, but it cycled on and off. I had to wear ear plugs to go to sleep.
Front desk staff was not very friendly. I wasn't welcomed as a Diamond member or a Hilton Honors member.
The tub had pink mildew or red slime.
We could never get the air to adjust to a comfortable temperature.
The snack bar was under renovation so it was closed. Bring your own snacks.
I hope my review helps someone make a more informed decision.
Good luck, my fellow travelers!
basically because some of the other TA reviews indicated that road noise wasn't much of an issue when I compared those reviews to Black Mountain.

I stay at Hampton Inn often so I know what they usually are like but this one is above the norm. They were helpful when I told them I was a light sleeper and gave me a room on the top floor which is what I requested. The place is very clean well decorated for Christmas and the staff were great.

It got chilly in the mountains last night, we were driving from Tennessee up through Asheville. When we first checked in, our room was pretty cold! But immediately after we turned up the heat, it became pleasant. 😊 It was a nice surprise to see the welcome Delores on the (huge) TV screen. My husband was impressed. I like that the bathroom counter is high and the sink is deep! The lighting in the bathroom is good. And a night light is something I always check. Yes, a bonus. The shower had great water pressure. I keep asking the Hamptons to add detachable shower head (wand) to rinse our nether regions. Women love these, trust me. No wand here yet. The toilet was adult size (high) not toddler size. Another bonus. Nice full length mirror outside the bathroom on the wall. Blackout curtains. Bedding typical of Hamptons, fresh. Room is clean. Hubby claimed the easy chair. Both of us slept well. Breakfast was adequate. For me, Hamptons has the best coffee of all the places we stay. Bold, strong, my preference since I drink coffee black.
I should point out — this Hampton, 20-30 minutes east of Asheville — is over $100 less than the Hampton In Asheville. So if you are just driving through, it is worth staying in Marion.

Our vehicle broke down and Hampton Inn had one last room available. Front desk staff was very accommodating and helped us find a ride service for transportation the next day and a restaurant that delivered to the hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast offered good variety.
