We had visited in the past, hadn't been in a while. It was a surprise for my birthday!! We had such a relaxed extended weekend getaway. I just love this little rustic gem. Off the beaten path so it's quite and on the stream. Was cool enough in the evenings to have a nice romantic fire in the fireplace, but...

Went to Maggie Valley, NC and stayed at Pioneer Village Resort. A walk in the past, beautiful cabin. The stream behind the cabin was so refreshing. Red rocking chairs. You become so relaxed. Loved evey minute. Advise everyone to go and enjoy themselves.

Absolutely beats the living hell out of staying at any of the places on the main drag in Maggie Valley. Very secluded yet minutes from the attractions & restaurants. Pleasant and accommodating owners. We liked it a lot and would stay here again. Yeah...it is not the most modern, but the WiFi worked...and it was extremely quiet and private. VERY...

My grandfather, Ben Medford, my father and our family built this beautiful village of cabins. I grew up playing in the cabins and learned to ride my bike in the circle. I have very fond and wonderful memories here, They hauled loads of rock from the mountain behind ghost town to build the beautiful fireplaces and rockwork. Lots of hard...

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon 35 years ago and had a great time. We knew we were going to be in the area again and called ahead to reserve the same cabin we had then. I enjoyed talking with the woman who made my reservations and telling her about our original stay. I called the morning...

My wife and I revisited Pioneer Village in Maggie Valley NC for the holidays this year. Jean Day and her son, Michael, were the most caring, gracious hosts. Holidays at Pioneer Village are special to us, and the rural setting, the peace and quiet, the friendly environment make for wonderful week of relaxation and time for the family. Like several...

We have been to Pioneer Village numerous times in the last 5 years. I was lucky enough to find it on the internet while looking for pet friendly lodging. Jean and her son have always been super nice. On our first visit we were arriving really late and Jean said "No problem, I will leave the cabin unlocked and the...

We stayed here while skiing in Cataloochee. The cabins have plenty of space. The fireplaces are great on a cool night. You're not far from the main road but you'd never know it. It's very peaceful. The ski area is just a few minutes away. We'll definitely be back.

Let me first say that I have been coming here since I was in a baby stroller and I am now almost 40 years old! This is a wonderful place to stay and Jean and her son are always available to help in any way that they can. If you want "rustic" cabin living, then this is the place for...

In early spring, 2013, we reserved cabin 4 for a week in June. When we arrived, we had been moved to cabin 5. Jeanne said the renters in #4 wanted to stay on. We were told we could cancel but would get no refund. Jean did not contact us before hand. We found out when we arrived foroour vacation. So...
