Laughing Heart Lodge opened in August 2012 after extensive renovation. The lodge was built in 1892 and for over 50 years was a Jesuit Retreat Center. Today Laughing Heart Lodge offers accommodations for visitors and travelers in its 9 lovingly renovated rooms (7 with private baths) and most with exceptional mountain views. Laughing Heart also has a hostel which is at the trailhead of the Appalachian Trail and offers very affordable lodging for hikers and other visitors to Hot Springs.

We found this hidden treasure on a prior visit to Hot Springs and decided to stay at the Lodge in August, based on meeting Gabe and Maria in June. The Cardinal room was spacious, warm, clean and welcoming. Gabe and Maria are wonderful hosts! We enjoyed the front porch and grounds, as well. It's a laid-back vibe; just what we needed. Look forward to coming back!

We stayed in the Cardinal guest room in the Lodge. It was a very comfortable room with an electric fireplace that added to the ambiance. The view out of our double window was a pleasant view but not extraordinary. This a a great place for a retreat, quiet serenity to the utmost. We were there in January so it was very quiet, good restaurants that alternate opening days because of the limited visitors. If you like to get away, and particularly hike, this is the place. A very light continental breakfast was provided.

Laughing Heart is a gem. Do not miss. The perfect hotel for a get-away. Time to think. Time to restore. Wonderful. Laughing Heart is the perfect place to "be" in the mountains- yet it's close to the human downtown vibration.

Me and my husband Rick, we stayed at this wonderful hotel and we have to say it was terrific! Mike was nice and polite, always ready to help. Huge tree was blossoming as much as a lot of bushes around too.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Monarch suite as a weekend getaway for us both. My girlfriend was able to enjoy a quiet and peaceful day in the room while I was able to take advantage of the beautiful weather and hike from Lemon Gap back to the lodge. Everything was perfect as far as we were both concerned. The lodge is right off the Appalachian Trail, it's in a quiet little corner of a quiet little town and close to the downtown eateries and shops. Mike was the most accommodating host and the weekend was exactly what the two of us needed.
