My son and I stayed at the Hickory Best Western this week while he was job searching. I have nothing but positive things to say about this experience. The staff is top notch, bending over backwards to give you a pleasant stay. They have pet-friendly rooms and no-pet rooms, so whatever you need that way, they accommodate you. The staff wears masks as they work, and all public areas are cleaned regularly. The breakfast is pre-packaged but includes several egg entrees. The attendant warms up your food and brings it to your table for you.
We needed to use the printer several times, and we were not charged for the paper or computer use. We also had a couple maintenance things in the room that were fixed immediately after I called. Yesterday, we needed an hour after checkout time, and that was no problem.
Yes, the property is older, but the rooms are clean and the beds are excellent. It looks like the inside part of the property (lobby, restrooms, inside rooms) has been renovated recently, so hopefully they will continue to update their property by tackling the outside section next.

I was very pleased with my recent stay at the Best Western in Hickory.
The front desk staff were welcoming, efficient, and friendly. The room had a coffee maker, microwave, mini refrigerator and was very clean and comfortable.
The large lobby has a nice atrium, and several seating areas, to enjoy breakfast, or afternoon snacks. A variety of fresh coffees and teas are always ready.
The breakfast included several hot items, waffles, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, a good variety of fruits and pastries.
A special thanks to John and Andy for kindly helping with my suitcase as the room was on the second floor. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the Hickory area !

This hotel is just off the main road which is why we stayed here. The lobby is very nice and the front desk guy was great but he was by himself and the check in line was literally out the door. There was a homeless looking guy walking around touching all the decor in the lobby. Room was ok. Outdated. Old carpet. I’ve recently stayed at nicer BWs. In the morning breakfast had a lot of choices but was served by people not wearing masks. There is a huge sign in the lobby stating all staff wears masks! When checking out, I asked the clerk to put on her mask. She said no, but I could feel free to keep mine on! She had an attitude after that. I contacted corporate and got a generic answer apologizing as this is not how it should have gone. This area has a lot of hotels and I suggest staying at one of them instead!

Dog friendly
Most Rooms are probably ok, our room 268 was relatively clean but smelled like a locker room full of sweaty boys. Obviously a dog room. Some Neutra Air freshener would be helpful. And being we paid $25. for our dog to stay they should be able to steam mop the carpets to freshen.
We only stayed here because NONE of the Hilton or Marriotts were pet friendly.
Better than most of the other cheap hotels we’ve stayed.

My family stayed there on a trip to Pigeon Forge, Tn. This hotel has been around since the late 80's, but it has been maintained. The housekeeping staff does a great job. The hotel was very clean and the grounds were being refreshed outside during our stay. We had 2 rooms. The heating unit in room 120 was a little loud. The noise was described as someone twisting an empty water bottle. I would stay there again.

We come to Hickory every year for the annual pottery show at the nearby Metro Convention Center and have stayed at 3 different hotels. This is the only one that we have come back to time after time. There are so many hotels in this area of Hickory from which to choose but we've basically had very good stays here each time.
At check in Rewards members receive a nice goody bag with bottled water and snacks.
In the evening they put out a tray of fresh cookies or a popcorn machine which is a thoughtful touch.
The interior rooms are smoke and pet-free and quiet too. All very important features for us.
The housekeeping did an amazing job cleaning our room prior to check in! It truly was what I would call clean which is a nice change from most hotels anywhere these days.
The breakfast is the best anywhere! You can tell that the management and staff try hard to make it well-stocked and kept neat throughout the hours that it is open . There is a very wide variety of hot and cold food and beverages. Especially notable is the selection of fruits! There were 2 kinds of fruit salads plus bananas, apples, and oranges. My husband did not like the reconstituted eggs at all however and tossed them out. There were other hot foods available plus oatmeal and some cold cereals too. There's a waffle-maker. One day, they made yogurt parfaits! Lots of toppings, like nuts, coconut, raisins, chocolate chips, etc. for whatever you want to put them on! Plus coffee and a selection of teas.
The big things that took away my awarding 5 stars instead of 4 are the very low water pressure in the shower. It is not just in this one room, likely being the size of the pipes, not the shower head, so it may not be correctable.
Also, the room lighting is terrible as someone in another review mentioned. It's actually dismal at night. This is a problem that CAN be fixed with higher wattage bulbs in the bedside lamp and the floor lamp and with the addition of lighting above the tv perhaps. However, the lighting in the bathroom is excellent!
One other thing that could be better is having a selection of bed pillows. They are oddly small and all one density so there is no choice depending on your needs.
But overall I do very much recommend this Best Western for overall quality and convenient location.

Room was clean and staff was friendly. Shower was hot and had great water pressure. Decent room for a 1 night stay while traveling. Taller toilets and a little more attention to detail when it comes to maintenance and patches would help the appearance of the rooms.

So glad we choose this hotel while in town for furniture shopping. I swear every single staff member wore a smile and pleasant greeting. Marie at the front desk made sure I had a pet and smoke free room because of allergies. Interior king room looked recently remodeled with lovely furnishings including couch. Bed comfy. Appeared very clean. Definitely will stay there next time I'm in town!

Nice hotel for a overnight stop over. Rooms are clean and reasonably priced. Desk clerk was friendly and helpful. Typical free breakfast, waffles, microwave sausage biscuits, that, bagels, etc. Good coffee. Easy access from I 40. Their welcome snack was fresh popcorn, which was tasty.
