About
Description
Been here while driving back to Reykjavik? The stop is a must. At the foot of Mount Vadalfjöll in the Westfjords, 10 km outside Reykhólar village, Hótel Bjarkalundur offers bright, simply furnished rooms and More cosy wooden cottages. It is the oldest summer hotel in Iceland and has been operated since 1947. Here was recorded a very famous TV show with the ex Mayor of Reykjavik Jón Gnarr. Facilities: a flat-screen TV, sofas and piano in the communal lounge. The restaurant uses locally sourced produce in its dishes and offers traditional Icelandic and international food. Free Wi-Fi, souvenirs shop, concierge service, banquet facilities, breakfast buffet, luggage room, free parking, garden and terrace, children`s playground and campsite. Less

Just too weird. They weren’t open when we arrived at 2:30 pm. Not one car in sight. Finally someone came to the door in only a sweater. Really. The room is tiny, the bathroom is a joke and I don’t think the bed linens are...More

I was really looking forward to this hotel. Oh my....we drove up on it and it was right on the roads, a huge barn looking thing with an NT station out front. Not a car on the property. The closed sign was not a good...More

We stayed just one night on our way to the west fjords. The location is quite convenient to break up the trip from Reykjavik. We arrived last evening, and had to ring the bell to get service. The woman who greeted us was pleasant and...More

We arrived in the evening. 2000kr to camp. 1 available toilet and barely 1/5 roll of toilet paper left. Coin deposit shower with a drain that was plugged...glad we were up early enough to be the first to shower. I realize it may be the...More

Stopped for food with family, ordered two pizzas and one kids burger. Waited over 40 minutes for food to arrive. Burger was okay but nothing more. Very unhappy with the pizzas. It was like eating a cracker. Both the pizza dough and cheese way to...More
