Everyone is very friendly. Angie who takes care of the breakfast is a very special person that goes above and beyond in her duties. She really enjoys what she does and is a very positive person. They make homemade French toast, eggs made to order including omelettes. The hotel is clean and refreshing.

My son had a swim meet in Hickory and we stayed in La Quinta Inns & Suites. We had excellent experience during our stay. The staff was kind and attentive.
The swim meet was early in the morning and we had to be in the pool by 7 am. The breakfast is started to serve at 7 am on the weekends. So, the lady who is in charge of the cafeteria prepared a breakfast for us at 5:45 am! It was outstanding. We greatly appreciate the hospitality provided by the hotel, and definitely will stay in this hotel next time we are in Hickory. Thank you!

Hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They all appeared to be following COVID 19 best practices. Hotel did not seem to be fully booked, so it was easy to keep distance from others. The breakfast was more limited than usual but had more items available than most other places. The server at breakfast was very friendly and handled orders in an efficient manner. Pool was not open, but would stay there again.

Upon check in at almost 5am, my debit card was charged $350 and some change for a one night stay. I had drove 4 states away and checked in long enough for a power nap. I left the room clean and tidy, hardly used and checked out by 10am. My charges on the receipt showed “room rate” then taxes then “room adjustment” then “room rate” again and “room adjustment” and a third time “room rate” and “room adjustment”. What the hell?? I’m only staying one night(sat)! I asked the front desk why my card was charged $350 for a $111 rate and she then told me it would go back on in 2-3 hrs. I understand they put a hold in case of damages, okay whatever but that would have been nice to know it was going to be $350 up front. The next day I check my bank account to see if the money had been put back on and only the room rate charged, to my surprise it was not!! They actually proceeded to charge me an additional $111 for what I actually stayed!! Wtf! So you’re gonna charge my card roughly $470 for a one night stay, not disclose any of these “fees” and then make me wait while my bank puts a hold the $350 that you guys already pre authorized. While I have money in my account to cover my non-damaged room, I don’t have money for them to hold $350 for a “pre authorization” for which I was already charged. My bank won’t release the funds until the manager send over a signed letterhead saying the charge is good to get released. I’ve since called the front desk twice and they have yet to get my bank the needed information. So now my rent and other bills are going to bounce because that $350 was already accounted for, and I’m going to have a $37 fee for each transaction. These people made my account go negative cause they wanted to double charge a pre-authorized transaction and not release it when they charge you again for the room. Never will I ever stay at a La Quinta hotel again!!

I understand your frustration and apologize for the problem that you had with the authorization hold. I hear your angst at the length of time that it takes for funds to be made available to you after you check out especially when you are counting on that money being available to pay rent and other bills. When a guest checks out, the hotel immediately releases the authorization hold over and above the actual charges due. Unfortunately bank policies are such that even though the hotel has released the funds, the money is not immediately put back into your account and, depending on the banking institution, may take up to seven business days for funds to be available. We sent your bank a request to expedite your access to the money in your account. We have no control over when, or even if, your bank will honor our request to help you gain access to your money. I am sure that communicating back and forth between us and your bank and the time it takes for us to advocate on your behalf felt like it was taking forever. I am glad to hear that it sounds like your bank was willing to process the release of funds into your account as quickly as they were able to get it done.

Terrible experience! Where to start? The room was filthy and smelled like an ash tray. This is ironic after they made me sign a liability form saying I would need to pay $250 if cleaning staff suspects anyone smoked within the room. Money grab or what? We don't smoke and our daughter with asthma instantly began to get irritated by the smoke odor. Carpet was stained and dirty. Bathroom floor had dust and hair in the corners and along wall. Opened the pull out sofa bed for our daughter only to find the bed covered with dried mud, crumbled leaves and multiple dead bugs. Gross is an understatement! Since when does a fabric layer over metal springs constitute a mattress? I don't know how anyone could sleep on this pull out. This room was so filthy, I wouldn't have even let my dog stay there. We were in and out of the room in less than 10 minutes to go elsewhere. I informed the front desk associated of the issue discretely as there were multiple guests in the lobby and another party walking in. We checked out and were told a refund would be processed. Fast forward a month and guess what. No refund and La Quinta refuses to issue one. Guess I should have been more vocal at the front desk and openly aired their dirty laundry. It appears a refund can only be issued by a manager on duty. Guess what, they don't have a manager on duty Saturday evenings. How convenient! Very poor business practice and shame on you La Quinta! Please do yourself and anyone you love or care about and stay somewhere else. As the title states, you are better off sleeping in your car than this filth of an establishment.

I am very sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience. I understand how upsetting it can be when you check into a room and it is not up to standard. This is not something that is normal practice for this La Quinta or we would not be able to hold a score of 98%. And as stated we are 100% non smoking but it does not stop people from smoking in the room sometimes, and again this is not something that occurs on a regular basis but unfortunately it does happen on occasion. The pull out sofa beds are not as comfortable as a regular bed and we can not put thick mattresses on them and still be able to fold it up. Managers are only on duty Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm so if you have any questions please give us a call. As for the refund Looking at your folio you was not charged by La Quinta you booked through Expedia so that is who you would have to go back through to get your refund. Please accept my most sincere apologies for the bad experience you had with our property.

All was well until the 2nd night when we returned to uncleaned room- no clean towels, no clean bedding, no clean cups, no soap, no shampoo! After 9 minutes on hold to the front desk, a trip was needed to personally obtain the basics for taking a shower, but still no clean bedding! Chris, the individual on duty argued that we had initialed our check-in form indicating our knowledge of such- which we had NOT. Housekeeping had knocked on our door earlier in the morning but we weren’t quite ready so we ask for a later makeup. We won’t be back, unfortunately!

Towels and linen are available at the front desk. There is only one person working the desk, so it does sometimes take a few extra minutes as he worked his way through multiple guest issues, check-ins, telephone calls, and what have you. After reading some of the reviews, I was a little apprehensive about staying here again. We used to stay here once a year when it was a Laquinta Inn. The hotel is almost exactly halfway between our home in Nags Head and Nashville, Tenn. where we have family. Now it is a Comfort Inn. New exterior looks nice and they are slowly upgrading the interior, including the rooms.
We were warmly greeted on arrival. Check in was a snap. We travel with our small dog, so they put us on first floor room. Very convenient for potty trips. They do charge a $15.00 fee for pets. That was a change, since the Laquinta Inn allowed pets at no cost.
I saw some of the reviews mentioned that there was no breakfast. We were offered a freshly cooked breakfast there. I had fresh cooked eggs, bacon, and hash browns, along with a fresh baked biscuit.
The room was nicely furnished and very clean. The bed was a pillow top and very comfortable. Needless to say, we were very pleased. There is also a great Mexican restaurant right across the street.

DIRTY Bathroom and not very clean. Very loud air-conditioning...
Gym was also dirty. 2 out of 3 machines were broken and nobody of the staff was interested. The Manager should have gotten back to me, but I never heard any word...
I would go down the road to some other well known and clean hotels and spend the $20 extra

I'm very sorry that you feel the way that you do. I spoke to you a couple times on the day of your check out and this was not brought to my attention at that time. I have reported to our corporat office that we indeed do need some new equiptment for our fitness room and that is in the works. As far as your bathroom not being clean I have reported this to the housekeeping manager and it is being addressed with the staff. The gym is cleaned every morning but I will make sure that it is being looked after in the afternoons. I traveled over 9 hours with an 18mo, 8 yr, and my mother during one leg of a three-day trip. There are many considerations before jumping into a new policy and LaQuinta is no different than many other businesses in this regard. I spoke with Chris who was awesome (even made sure the crib was set up for our late check-in). One of our travelers can't wear a mask and these blanket policies incite a good bit of fear of refusal of service even though HIPPA, which is actually a LAW, states you can't discriminate based on protected medical issues. I've heard horror stories about traveling so I was relieved and am tired of intimidation relating to anything that can be attached to covid. They were professional and appropriately accommodating without compromising anyone's perceived safety. Hey, LaQuinta-, take the pressure off of your staff to refuse service to people without even knowing what their case is! Before traveling, anxiety was built around hearing that this was possible in NC. It was great to feed my kids breakfast before getting on the road again. Good job opening the breakfast area back up!

I was a bit disappointed with my room because of the pet smell. I did not complain because we are only staying one night. Room has a nice size refrigerator and microwave. It is convenient to the interstate. Would have been fine without the smell. I did wipe down the room when I got in. The smell gives a feeling that it wasn’t as clean as it should be.

Pet Policy Details We love all kinds of animals, but only domestic pets, like cats and dogs, are allowed to stay at La Quinta. While our rooms are spacious, no more than two (2) domestic pets are allowed per room. When you check in, let the front desk staff know you’ll have a pet in your room. You’ll need to sign a Pet Policy Agreement, and then you and your pet can make yourselves at home. Pet(s) shall remain within your control at all times, either on a leash or in a carrier if outside your room. Pet(s)may remain alone in a guestroom so long as the pet is well-behaved. Pet(s) that are disruptive to other guests or staff or causing damage, cannot be left alone and must remain in your control. With the exception of authorized service animals, pets are not allowed in the breakfast area, the fitness center, the laundry room or the pool. Please contact Housekeeping to make arrangements for room cleaning. Because we can’t clean your room while you and your pet(s) are present, we suggest you schedule a time during the hotel’s normal cleaning schedule for us to clean while you are out and about. Hi Beth A, Good afternoon, our breakfast is a hot buffet served each morning. Since I am not an expert on gluten free, I will tell you what our breakfast serves. Eggs made-to-order, or omelets if you prefer, with multiple choices for add on ingredients such as; spinach or mushrooms. Bacon and sausage are served on the buffet, along with biscuits, gravy, and breakfast potatoes. We also have, boiled eggs, pancakes, and waffles. Cold cereal, oatmeal, grits. and muffins are also easy to go options.
