What an opportunity to live in the former mansion of the family that owned most of the American tobacco industry! The house is full of explanatory boards, paintings. Its history is so interesting. John F. Kennedy was here for a wedding ceremony when it was still a private house. Special mention deserves the garden: Several different parts with different topics,...

We stayed 1 night and enjoyed ourself very much. The rose garden and the gardens over all were absolutely beautiful, the bed comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious- grits eggs fruit, yum. INN was very Historical and had lots of information about the previous owners in a small gallery on the second floor. It is renovated beautifully. The staff couldn't...

Our stay at the Duke Mansion in early April was magnificent! We stayed in the Nesbit room. The room was beautiful and very large with access to the sleeping porch. Classical music was playing on the radio when we arrived in the room. The room and bathroom were exceptionally clean. We enjoyed sitting on the sleeping porch and taking in...

Having stayed in a variety of locations about Charlotte, this is absolutely the best option! The Mansion is amazing. The most gorgeous marble entry pails in comparison to the reception and service every time you walk in/out. The staff is very attentive and gracious. Our rooms were well appointed, spacious, sparkling clean and provided every amenity we could ever need....

We have stayed in many comfortable places, but the Duke Mansion was top drawer. All the staff made us feel welcome and were perfectly helpful. The room and bathroom (and even the closet) were amazing. Their recommendation for dinner - The Fig Tree, a few blocks away, was perfect. Breakfast was included and way better than any hotel 20-dollar, supposedly-hot...

We went for an overnight getaway to Charlotte, specifically to stay at the Duke Mansion which a friend had recommended. Even better than expected! The grounds are fabulous and impeccably maintained, even in March. We had reserved "Mr. Duke's" room on the 2nd floor, but were upgraded to the Dowd Suite upon check in. Don't know what Mr. Duke's room...

What a delightful surprise! Must nicer than the website depicts...this 32,000 sq. foot mansion with high ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, and tall casement windows sits on a 5 acre well maintained garden. We were very pleased with our second floor room with the adjoining screened in porch. Lovely, lovely, lovely!!!

We attended a wedding luncheon, cocktails and cake cutting. The staff was excellent! The only thing that could have been improved upon was the parking...it was very tight and no valet was available. There were three events going on and it was mid-day Saturday, but valet would have made this a perfect venue.
