This property has several different styles of accommodations - I stayed in a traditional motel room with a queen bed on the second floor facing the pool. The room was very clean, nicely decorated and was relatively airy though it was small - but, you don't go to Hatteras Island to spend much time in the room! No-contact check-in/check-out through the app/text was flawless. The room had a small microwave and good-sized refrigerator/freezer. Large enough to fit a small pizza box. The location was great - directly on a very nice beach and a short walk to several restaurants and shops. The Hatteras lighthouse is a short bike ride away. The room had a nice deck facing the pool with Adirondack chairs which had a nice sunset. The property seems to be well maintained and well managed. Frankly, I can't wait to return! There are only two negatives I can think of. First, I had to climb three flights of stairs to reach the room - This is a pain with luggage. The other was that the deck is not private - the deck doubles as the walkway to the rooms on your level. This was only a minor annoyance - there are only a few rooms on each level since the facility is divided into multiple buildings. All-in-all a great stay. Already planning my return.

Room was great, located on the 4th level facing the ocean with new (at least since 2018) very comfortable chairs to use just outside our door on the balcony overlooking the ocean. Bed was also very comfortable and we made great use of the frig and microwave oven plus the TV was a great picture. All in all a very nice experience but we were not surprised as we have been here many times in the past.

This is our second time staying in the same suite at the LHV, Suite #638. Upon walking in the newly keyless coded door (from the pool/bayside) you instantly feel at home. Through the bedroom, just past the bathroom and stocked kitchen with seating for four, you can see nothing but the ocean with the wall of windows in the living room that houses the most awesome panel bed. As you open the door to the ocean side covered deck, comfy Adirondack chairs await to be claimed. There are so many bonuses to this suite and LHV, from the covered ocean side deck that seems to have a never ending breeze to get reprieve from the mid-day sun to the covered pool side facing deck that has some glorious sunsets. My favorite bonus is the staff. I never had an issue that was not taken care of IMMEDIATELY, an extra pillow here and there, or asking for a vacuum cleaner mid stay to tidy our suite. Due to Covid precautions, they are not offering in room/in suite cleaning service during stays, but they are doing an amazing job and go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable. They will bring linens and towels to your room or you can even visit them for an exchange. The staff at LHV goes above and beyond! Our suite is on the top deck, yes it’s up two-ish flights, but for the views, you will only hear complaints coming from this family on the last day, as we are leaving because we have 51 weeks before we return to 638. This place is magical and family friendly on all levels. The people you see during your stay, you can be sure to see the same faces next year, the same week. I’d like to keep this jewel to myself but I’m all for sharing my slice of heaven with the world. My only recommendation is - Re-book your vacation by Wednesday of the week you’re on vacation, if not, you’ll never get your same room/suite/cottage back. This place is a jewel.

We really enjoyed our stay, despite all the stairs that we are not used to! The suite which had a king bed and a murphy bed fit our needs perfectly, and we had only two issues. I was not very keen on having to make up the beds having paid almost $300 a night for an ocean front suite! I realize it's done to be "safe" for Covid, but I thought that was a little much. Also, our dishwasher was full - clean - but fully loaded from the previous guest who had checked out and I really feel that should have been unloaded before we arrived. So, after an all day trip from Miami to North Carolina (including a plane trip to Raleigh and a five hour drive to Buxton), the first thing I did was make up two beds and empty a dishwasher! It left a slightly sour taste in my mouth, but other than that, everything was great. Sadly we did not get to use the pool or jacuzzi but our grandkids did - we loved our beach view, and having the grill to bbq was great. The water pressure in the shower was a bit puny but not a big deal. I also feel you could have given us a few more toiletries but we were able to track down someone and get some additional shampoo etc. Great location, beach view is amazing, close to great restaurants and Cape Hatteras and some terrific beaches. Would definitely stay there again.

We had a truly wonderful visit to the Lighthouse View Oceanfront Motel! We spent seven nights there with our 6yo and 2yo in a poolside doubles room. Check-in was extremely easy, especially with their app which included our room code and loads of information about the hotel. The room was more than adequate and what we expected based on the photos. We chose a top floor room, which gave us lovely sunset views and quick access to the parking lot and pool. In retrospect, I would have loved to have an oceanside room, and gotten one of the larger suites/efficiencies, but we were late to the game in booking and on a limited budget. The beds were fine, and the fridge was larger than expected and actually stayed quite cold - I'm used to those mini-fridges barely cooling anything, but not this one! The microwave was small but more than enough for what we needed. There were plenty of channels on the television for our little ones and the wifi worked great. For all the time we were there, we never heard a peep from our neighbors next door or below and hopefully we weren't too disruptive to them. Being on the beach was quite nice, though it's not the kind of beach that young kids can swim at. The waves and current were always too strong and we lost a shovel and a bucket on the very first day. Not the end of the world, but told us that we wouldn't be spending a lot of time there. I did go out at night and relax a bit to the waves, but there are a lot of kids and teens ghost crabbing with their cell phone lights. It made it a bit less pleasurable, but that's not the hotel's fault - what can you do, kids enjoy it! The pool was awesome! We have a toddler that doesn't do well in super cold water, so the bath water-warm pool worked out really well. It was only crowded a handful of times, but it's mostly other kids or parents that didn't mind the splashing and jumping. The hot tub was SUPER hot though. Perfect for my sore neck! Again, the app was wonderful to use, but we made one mistake. In my own ignorance, I did not understand that "laundry exchange" was for the bed linens and towels and the first few days, the housekeeper left fresh towels out front for us and took our soiled ones. We discovered later on that wasn't the norm (though we left a nice tip because it was really helpful with little kids and limited laundry exchange hours). The literal only complaint that I have is they only have two washing machines and very limited hours (3pm-9pm Sun-Fri). On two occasions, there was a line of folks and, if you didn't get your wash in by 7:30, you weren't finishing up by 9. I wish the hours were extended or there were more machines, but there's also limited space. An actual laundry service might have been worthwhile for a fee. Overall, this was a terrific visit and we had a great time! We highly recommend the Lighthouse View and met multiple families who have been visiting for years. Don't miss out on this one!
