Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a charming, delightful and understated place. It has just changed ownership so there may be some changes on the horizon? I think it does need some investment and that may make it change direction We loved our time there, simple and comfortable room - maybe a little dated, but not to put anyone off. Particularly loved the outside shower!! Delicious breakfast served with option to sit outside under the trees We did not use the spa so cant comment on that We would definitely stay again

Driving from Perth to Margaret River after a long flight we just needed a place to crash. Arrived late at night so we had no idea what we were getting into. We were very pleased upon entering the room which was vary tastefully appointed. (in fact, the wife loved the bedding so much she bought sets of sheets to bring home!) But as nice as the room was, we were stunned to see the setting when we went to breakfast. The setting of the inn is stupendous. In fact, we were so impressed by the setting that we stayed an extra day in order to explore the expansive grounds. We found Empire Retreat to be a gem of an inn which we highly recommend. The rooms have a simple, understated elegance, the kitchen is superb, and the setting is dramatic. We stumbled across this place in the dead of night which proves serendipity can be a wonderful thing. Empire Retreat rates a double thumbs up.

Where do I begin we had high expectations of this place and our expectations well and truly were exceeded!! This place is honestly the most beautiful piece of paradise with such a quiet calming feel about it which my wife and I absolutely loved. We did the 2 day experience pack for the deluxe room with breakfast included a beautiful gourmet hamper with an abundance of delicious gourmet treats, a massage each and a bottle of red and white wine. I bought this experience for my Wife's 50th birthday and was also for us being together 13 years. The staff were absolutely amazing so bubbly and friendly and professional, Our deluxe room was beautiful the decor is so modern and so well designed, the daily breakfast was plentiful and at a very high standard and a good selection, the peacefulness and the lush surroundings were very calming and the massages we had was absolutely by far the best both my wife and I have ever had they were extremely well trained and intuitive. It is beyond 5 stars in my eyes everything I couldn't fault it holds such a high bar with the experiences we've had at other places and we would both come back to this wonderful place in a heart beat. Highly recommend this Retreat especially if you want to come for a nice peaceful break away from the hustle and bustle.

Our trip toYallingup coincided with one of the wettest and coldest days in the south west. We were actually headed to Augusta and decided to break the trip. Empire Retreat is off the main road in a wooded area. On arrival we entered a spacious and cosy reception area and were greeted warmly by Neesha. The log heater was so welcoming. Neesha couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. She gave us an umbrella and showed us to our room, along a wooden walkway. She had put the heater on and it was wonderful to enter the beautifully appointed room. We also had a small balcony and outdoor shower. A four poster bed, bath with shower over bath, toilet and vanity, all open plan (except the WC had a door!). Not a fan of the shower curtain but understood it’s required. Coffee machine, bottled water, mini bar. Really high spec. Breakfast was outstanding. We had ordered the night before and it was exactly as we wanted. Sorry it was only one night. Highly recommended.

Private retreat for couples at the top end of Margaret River. Breakfast was good. The room was clean and well maintained. Good toiletries. Shower over bath would make it difficult for anyone who had mobility issues to easily get in and out. The shower was poorly poisoned over the bath causing water spill on to the bathroom floor. This could be dangerous and should be fixed. Very pleasant surrounds and very peaceful.

I am a local recently moved into the area and have actively been looking for a place to have massages on a fortnightly basis. Walking into the spa gives you a complete sense of serenity and calm. Unfortunately for them that is where it ended. I have just experienced one of the worst massages I have ever had in my life. I have been having massages for over 20 years and this one left me wanting the experience to end and couldn't wait to get off the table and out of the place. Elbows were used throughout the entire massage and absolutely no consistency, I have been left with bruises all over my body and a very sour taste in my mouth for the money that was spent.

Relaxing, therapeutic - the door is closed to the rest of the world - even for a minute. The spa is a must. breakfast is extraordinary and such a nourishment to put you in good stead for the rest of the day. A minimum of a 2-day stay would be recommended to experience what Empire Spa Retreat has to offer.

A small beautiful boutique retreat. With limited numbers, you feel very special. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and inviting. The view from the verandah was just relaxing and reflective of the area, the resort itself has stone and timber and sits comfortably in the area. The staff were great, helpful and friendly. The dining room has views across the countryside, and although the breakfast menu is only small, the quality of the food was brilliant. We had the food hamper, and it was just great sitting in the verandah watching the sun set and enjoying the quality food - with some local wine. We also used the spa, the treatments that we had were wonderful. Great staff, very attentive and sooo relaxing. If you enjoy quality and like being treated as an individual then this place is wonderful.

Excellent customer service. Beautiful grounds. Rooms and linen were a little tired for the price. Lots of places to sit and relax to enjoy the tranquil bush. Beautiful breakfast room and variety provided.
