Driving from Perth to Margaret River after a long flight we just needed a place to crash. Arrived late at night so we had no idea what we were getting into.

We were very pleased upon entering the room which was vary tastefully appointed. (in fact, the wife loved the bedding so much she bought sets of sheets to bring home! Uh, that is new sheets and not s used set.)

But as nice as the room was, we were stunned to see the setting when we went to breakfast. The setting of the inn is stupendous. In fact, we were so impressed by the setting that we stayed an extra day in order to explore the expansive grounds.

We found Empire Retreat to be a gem of an inn which we highly recommend. The rooms have a simple, understated elegance, the kitchen is superb, and the setting is dramatic. We stumbled across this place in the dead of night which proves serendipity can be a wonderful thing. Empire Retreat rates a double thumbs up.

Where do I begin we had high expectations of this place and our expectations well and truly were exceeded!! This place is honestly the most beautiful piece of paradise with such a quiet calming feel about it which my wife and I absolutely loved.
We did the 2 day experience pack for the deluxe room with breakfast included a beautiful gourmet hamper with an abundance of delicious gourmet treats, a massage each and a bottle of red and white wine.
I bought this experience for my Wife's 50th birthday and was also for us being together 13 years. The staff were absolutely amazing so bubbly and friendly and professional, Our deluxe room was beautiful the decor is so modern and so well designed, the daily breakfast was plentiful and at a very high standard and a good selection, the peacefulness and the lush surroundings were very calming and the massages we had was absolutely by far the best both my wife and I have ever had they were extremely well trained and intuitive.

It is beyond 5 stars in my eyes everything I couldn't fault it holds such a high bar with the experiences we've had at other places and we would both come back to this wonderful place in a heart beat. Highly recommend this Retreat especially if you want to come for a nice peaceful break away from the hustle and bustle.

From the very minute you arrive at Empire Spa Retreat you are welcomed and treated not like just another guest but like a someone the staff there value and are looking forward to meeting. The foyer is welcoming and homely and the staff continue the welcoming vibe showing you around their amazingly beautiful main building.
When you get shown to your room it is not like going into a hotel room it is a room that you want to stay and relax in and the rooms are exceptionally clean.
Breakfast is served at a hospitable hour and is a perfect blend of great ingredients cooked extremely well and not too much that you are stuffed full. I should not have been surprised at this point by the coffee, but I was, and it was one of the best coffee’s I’ve had in quite some time.
The staff looked after our every need and helped us out with a mishap throughout the weekend and went above and beyond to help a situation that another venue had caused which really eased our disquiet.
Thank you very much for everything

I stayed at Empire Spa Retreat by myself for 4 nights. The location is perfect, not too far from Dunsborough and Margaret River. The communication with the retreat staff prior to going, and during my stay was fantastic. They provided local information about restaurants, tour providers, spa treatments and even dress codes for where I was going for meals. The atmosphere in the retreat is cozy, inviting, warm, and very much a part of the natural surrounds. I had 3 spa treatments while I was there, including 2 of the spa rituals. They were absolute bliss. From full body scrubs, scalp massage, hair treatment, sauna, deep tissue and pressure point massage and facials, they do it all. I highly recommend Flora, Seraphina and Erica!
The staff all greeted me by name and were very interested in what I had planned for each day. The breakfast was INCREDIBLE, with freshly brewed barista coffee, an amazing array of continental breakfast, and a made to order hot meal off a menu all included in your stay. The room was so comfy. I stayed in the loft suite and couldn't have asked for more. I'll definitely be back again!

Incredibly disappointed with our stay at Empire Spa over new years. Room looked more like a motel than a 5 star retreat and photos on website had been taken to deliberately exclude the un-renovated corner of the room.

Bathtub/shower was as pictured, but completely unsafe and flooded the whole bathroom floor (as described in previous reviews). Had soggy towels sitting on the floor all day, how luxurious. The room was also described as having ‘polished wooden floors’. When raised with management, we were told that the floors had been replaced with carpet a few weeks prior and they ‘hadn’t updated the room description yet’. Again, added to the motel look and feel.

Left our booking one night early and sought alternative accomodation down south. We were refused a refund for the final night after complaining, which is fair because it is a busy time of year but very disappointing when we had paid hundreds of dollars per night to stay. Such a shame because we had such a lovely experience last time, but will never stay here again. Although the staff were lovely and the resort itself is beautiful, there are much nicer places to stay with far more amenities on site and nicer rooms to enjoy your holiday.

What a beautiful place, but we were charged an extra $1700 on arrival (for someone else’s reservation) which resulted in our account going into negative and our dinner declining. We were forced to sit in our room for a whole day while empire tried to refund the money into our account but due to a public holiday we were left with a negative bank account for 24 hours. We were only offered a 10% discount on our booked spa treatment, safe to say the care they have towards their customers is extremely poor. We were not even offered food for lunch or dinner.

We had an amazing stay at Empire for our wedding. My bridal party and I stayed the night before the wedding and my partner and I stayed for a few extra nights. The staff were so helpful in working out the best way to do this and allowed us to pay a different room rate (4 people/2people) to accomodate. The whole setting is absolutely beautiful and serene, it feels like you’re the only people there. The breakfast is AMAZING, and the service can’t be faulted. We will definitely be back!

I am a local recently moved into the area and have actively been looking for a place to have massages on a fortnightly basis. Walking into the spa gives you a complete sense of serenity and calm. Unfortunately for them that is where it ended. I have just experienced one of the worst massages I have ever had in my life. I have been having massages for over 20 years and this one left me wanting the experience to end and couldn't wait to get off the table and out of the place. Elbows were used throughout the entire massage and absolutely no consistency, I have been left with bruises all over my body and a very sour taste in my mouth for the money that was spent.

My wife and I have been going to Empire every year for the last 7 or 8 years. Every time the stay is amazing. The rooms are comfortable, cozy and well appointed; the staff are friendly and courteous; the grounds of the estate are amazing and the location is just far enough out of town to feel a little secluded but close enough that you're never more than 5 or 10 minutes away from a world class meal.

Highly, highly recommend.
