Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We didn’t stay there, we just went for dinner. I had read that the steak was good elsewhere so I was keen to give it a shot.

Honestly, I paid $45 for a scotch fillet with chips and side salad. The side salad consisted of 2 slices of tomato, 2 slices of cucumber and a slice of red onion, no lettuce or anything. The steak was ordered medium rare and came out grey, very overdone and was actually flavourless.

The other meals were average at best, the chips were off white, and the kids meal was actually served in a takeaway box in the restaurant.

Also, the drinks need to be purchased yourself from the bar around the corner, as nothing can be ordered from the table.

There’s better options in the area.

Very run down and think the bed in our room has been there since the hotel was built. Bar staff was nice but went down hill after that. Limited menu and apparently fryers weren't in use so no chips but still had to pay full price. Then we saw the manager take a bowl of chips to their table in front of a packed paying restaurant. Also the managers don't like the staff burning too much wood but their seat was right next to the fire in the restaurant. Advised the manager that it was quite poor form to eat chips in front of paying customers and she advised they were "checking the quality" but they were no good???? Apparently we were meant to get extra salad because you couldn't get chips or pappadums, yep curry & rice with side salad is quite a nice mix. Pay a bit extra and stay somewhere else, we certainly won't stay again and won't recommend this place to anyone!

A good country hotel, quite basic, but comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful sleep. Parking right outside each of the units, but some of the parking spaces are tight. Bathrrom is spacious, but again quite basic. The adjacent restaurant serves amazing meals, see seperate review.

The pictures on the website are completely inaccurate. What a waste of money! The place was filthy with so many spiders everywhere. Empty coke cans on top of cupboards, missing tiles in bathroom, carpets falling to pieces and torn up, dust over everything, water stains all over ceiling. A sign in the room says ‘We are aware that some rooms are old and need updating…’ how about you start by actually hiring a cleaner! 2 mins and a duster would take care of yrs of built up spider webs but seems the owners couldn’t care less. Wifi doesn’t work of course, limited TV stations and another sign says you can access your own smart TV accounts….only problem is the TV is as outdated as the room and therefore was invented pre-smart TV.
I honestly don’t know how they are still in business and haven’t been shutdown? We were going to eat at the restaurant as nothing in town was open but knowing how bad the rooms are wasn’t sure we’d survive so gave that a miss. Worst motel I’ve ever stayed at.

We ordered and paid for 10 adults for 8 adults and 2 children had to put the tables together ourselves and after noting the restaurant offer of 1 kid meal free for 1 adult that was not included on our order we requested to at least add the 2 free kids meals to our already paid order. Staff were rude. We got no cheese on our cheese burgers and when we complained the manager reacted accusing us of trying to rip them off and call us an entitled family for wanting cheese on our cheese burgers. Stay away!

We only came for lunch which was delicious. We had the pork ribs and the Cajun squid, both tasty and good value. There is an outside area out the back where we dined, plus inside and out the front is dog friendly. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great artwork on the walls inside.

We always go to local pubs for dinner but this is the worst we have ever been to. The food was expensive and extremely bad. The $49 steak was full of fat and tasted disgusting. The chicken snitzel was as hard as a rock with a handful of shredded white coloured lettuce on the side. There is zero ambience and surly staff. They hated being there as much as we did. We would have left but met a really lovely couple on the way there who we had dinner with. There was also nowhere else to go in Walpole on a Sunday night other than a take away. We were very disappointed that they couldn’t cook a steak or snitzel!!! They also kicked us out at 8:30 🙃

We had a one-night stay at this hotel on 28/12/2024. The bed was comfortable and clean, as was the bathroom. In our rush to check out, we accidentally left behind a phone charger. Upon realizing it was missing after we got home, we called the hotel. The staff were incredibly genuine and honest, confirming that the charger had been found.

The hotel manager went above and beyond by kindly posting it to us in Perth free of charge—a true display of the Christmas spirit! What an amazing lady and exceptional customer service. It’s heartwarming to encounter such caring and thoughtful people when you least expect it.

We are sincerely grateful for this kindness and will make sure to return to Walpole sooner or later. Thank you!

Ordered dinner to be told that the fryer was not working which meant about 75% of the menu was not available. My friend had to order a burger & asked for no tomato. The burger came out with tomato! Just as well she wasn’t allergic to tomato. I ordered garlic prawns with rice. Just as well there were plenty of prawns because the rice was like rubber. We had to go to the bar to order our drinks & we both asked for lemon, lime & bitters. What we got was lots of ice a drop of bitters & lemonade. If I had wanted lemonade I would have asked for one.
Very disappointed. As we are staying here we wanted to do the right thing & support.

We enjoyed the ribs at the restaurant. It was busy but the service was great and the staff were happy. We extended our booking from 5 people to 9
at late notice but with a quick rearrange we were all seated. Everyone enjoyed their meal and then we watched the band in the bar, they were so much fun and it was a real community feel.
