Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Though the location is beautiful and central next to a amazing beach front, but the occupancy iis not very encouraging. Nevertheless, many tourists come for the food and outdoor activities, Very outstanding view.

We were lucky enough to have one of the front rooms overlooking Thompsons Bay. The room was bright and large but still very expensive for what it is. The bathroom needs an upgrade and the screen door to the patio came off its hinges and the outdoor furniture needs replacing or fixing. Having said that great to sit on the patio and watch the action on the bay.

For between $245-$295/night this accommodation should be 1) better or 2) cheaper. We stayed in a regular room, not the one splashed all over the promo pages showing a light filled room with an ocean view. Our room 'overlooked the courtyard' which implies a delightful grassed area for relaxing and enjoying a coffee.. If you like fake grass and second hand smoke from drunks, then this might be your hotel. If you would like to enjoy a coffee overlooking the full ashtrays and empty alcohol bottles from the night before and inhale the second hand smoke form a smoker keen to fill their lungs with tar after a sleep, then again this is your hotel. The room was dark, bed like a trampoline, you could hear what the neighbors were watching on TV as your bedhead wall was the same as the TV

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Guests are presented with two options when booking, selecting our Bayside rooms with views over Thomsons Bay or the Courtside which you selected. While I am unable to tell from your review how you booked the hotels own Web site represents the room/surround accurately. It is unfortunate that your stay was marred by other guests who chose to socialise in the public courtyard with drinks and cigars. The courtyard is serviced through the day and early evening, so I am disappointed you found discarded bottles. The frequency of service has been raised with my management team. I am concerned over the shower curtain you refer to and blackouts that did not seal enough of the windows. Our Accommodation manager has reviewed all rooms based on your stays experience. While the accommodation is not brand new, it is very hard to compare experiences with the mainland in terms of price etc, given the unique nature of operating in an island environment. The hotels reception hours are carefully considered to match that of ferry arrival and departures to island and are adjusted as we move into summer season with later ferry operations. With respect to your experiences of my staff being grumpy, that is simply not acceptable and I apologise. Hopefully as the island develops and our new Resort opens you will consider a return experience. Warm regards John Langton General Manager

Sit by the sit at the Hotel Rottnest and enjoy a beer and wood-fire pizza taking in the salty air and aqua coloured ocean. Drinks arent that cheap but you are paying for the location. The pub grub food menu has been updated and everything rolling out of the kitchen looked amazing. There is the odd quokka hopping around the beer garden so you might be lucky enough lucky enough to also capture yourself a quokka selfie

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. Rest assured we carefully review our pricing to ensure it is in line with hotels on the mainland, despite of course the additional costs associated with island operations. I am very pleased you have seen a marked improvement in our food offering. The hotel has been working very hard to ensure our guest are well entertained through all our products and services. Hope to see you again soon on island (The new Summer Menu is close to be launched) Warm Regards John Langton General Manager

For a hotel located in the prime location on Rottnest Island it was very disappointing. I thought I was staying in a motel room on route 66 in the 1960's so poor was the room and amenities. Whilst the main room was relatively clean the small porch had weeds, dirt and cobwebs - a good sweep occasionally would do wonders. The mould and mildew in the bathroom was horrendous & made me want to put my flipflops on to have a shower. Hotel restaurant décor and food was quite good, but a bit pricey for what you got.

Dear Guest, Please accept my personal apology for the room not being presented correctly. While our rooms are not new there can be no excuse for unclean and or poorly presented rooms. I am pleased you found the room itself clean, but the bathroom clearly needed attention. Your comments have been presented to my management team and all bathrooms reviewed for required maintenance as required. Should you be travelling back to Rottnest in the near further please contract me as I would like to show you our normal presentation of room, and buy you drink. Warm Regards John Langton General Manager

Rooms are very spacious and conveniently located near the jetty and shops. Complimentary water was a nice touch. Staff were friendly. Has nice outdoor area and a bar looking out to the water. Hire a bike and explore the island.

My daughter and I took what was to be a day trip to Rottnest island from our hotel in Scarborough. We arrived on a bright sunny warm day late August, after a smooth crossing from Hilary’s landing, we stepped off the ferry and viewed the island, my first words were “ we should have thought about staying here for a night “ so with that in mind, no toothbrushes, no change of clothes etc, and a totally spontaneous idea we directed ourselves to Rottnest Hotel and enquired about a room. Harriet the receptionist was so very helpful and could not do enough for us, and so we booked in, she even gave us a toothbrush and toothpaste. The room in the courtyard was clean, comfortable and more than adequate for our needs. We hired bikes and had the most superb day and evening, far better than

I has always wanted to visit here and was impressed by the images i saw on the website however not quite what it was like in reality. The beds were very comfy and the location right on the beach was great however the bathrooms are very tired . I understand they are doing a massive renovation next year

I had booked to stay at Hotel Rottnest but the day before they rang to tell me the ferries were cancelled so I would not be able to travel there. I thought this was really good service: they let me know about the ferries, cancelled my booking and refunded me the money, all in a really friendly fashion. I was disappointed but appreciated their efficiency!
