Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We enjoyed the Rottnest Hotel with friends for Melbourne Cup 2019. I thought the day was well organised and staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. We paid for a package of drinks and canapé and I thought it was good value and the food was delicious. The band were also a huge hit along with the DJ. All in all a great day..thank you to all involved.

Visiting from the Uk , I had to see the quokkas! With being recommended this pub for a brilliant lunch with beautiful views , I decided to try Hotel Rottnest. It was a hot Sunday and was apparent that most people have gotten away for the day to soak up the early summer sun. While waiting in the queue with my friend I decided to grab a table when I could see when one was free. Once I noticed a free table we were just about to order so I rushed back to place my order. To my surprise I was treated by a rude and unpleasant employee who just replied “You guys need to be more organised than this! This is not fair for the others anyway what would you like?”. I was so taken back by the tone and aggression in his voice I was rushing to tell him my order and pay so much I payed on the my

While there are half a dozen cocktails on the menu, i was told only 2 were available and none of the tasting flights were available for spirits or cocktails even though they were advertised above the main bar. The food was nice enough....but very dissapointed with the lack of drink options, especially when they are on the menus.

My friend & I ordered the pumpkin risotto. We agreed that it has to be the most tasteless meal we’ve ever had. It came served splattered on plate with runny cream poured over the top, what looked like straight from the carton. For $29 it is hugely overpriced. When we gave this feedback to the wait person, he apologised and told us to come back tomorrow night and order something better. This will not happen. I will never go there for dinner again.

To be clear - Rottnest Island is not about accommodation. It's about those adorable little quokkas, so I could have stayed in a cardboard box and been happy about it. The location was great, everything is walk-able or bike-able. The food and drink at the restaurant were great, the beach is lovely as are the views. The room was large and the bed comfortable but it's not luxury. BUT I woke up one night and there was a bug in my room (not a big deal, we are in an Australian wildlife destination after all) and I opened the door to try to shoo it out and there were several sweet quokkas in the courtyard and it was a magical moment. I sat out there and watched them for a long bit. That made my choice of hotel/room absolutely perfect to me. But again, don't expect lux. Also

Super touristy spot BUT you can see why. ituated right on the sands of Rottnest island, the beer selection is plentiful and the food is tasty. It was extremely busy when we went so the food took a while but we were pre-warned so we were not phased. If you can get a table near the water its a game changer. Thongs and swimsuit attire, casual dining at its best!

Tried the cuisine at the Hotel Rottnest recently - top notch. It was midweek but the service was friendly and the kitchen delivered promptly. We had a massive bowl of cidered mussels accompanied by a fresh garden salad and lightly toasted Turkish bread.

The hotel is conveniently located just a stone throw away from the ferry stop, provided you throw it really hard and it bounces a few times. The attached restaurant serves tasty food and would be a great place to rest your legs after a ball-busting cycle round the island. I liked the quiet serenity of the place after sundown as it was frightfully cold in November and there wasn't much to do after dark. Thankfully, the rooms were suitably warm and the toilet stocked all the right soaps. We stayed in the courtyard room and occasionally one or two quokkas would be hopping around for a photo opportunity.

After many years of wanting to visit we finally made up our minds and headed to Rotto for a short stay. We decided to stay at the Hotel Rottnest and it turned out to be a great decision. Apart from the fantastic location right on the beach at Thompson’s Bay the rooms were great. Clean and functional with the most comfortable bed I’ve stayed in for years. Our room was a good size with a queen size bed and great amenities. The hotel itself served great meals and ice cold beers and the staff were happy and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to return to the hotel in the future.

The good: friendly staff, great location and the room was clean. The bad: bed was uncomfortable. The walls paper thin - I could hear the people in the rooms next to me. Very noisy. Had a room with a private balcony with views of the beach. The furniture was dirty and uncomfortable. Plus it was noisy due to other patrons being on their balconies and not being mindful of noise. Honestly, better to have a room that shares that communal grounds. It's quieter and cheaper.

Dear Guest, My apologies that your Bayside Room was not as quiet as you had hoped for. During the school holidays there are lots of people enjoying the island and the beach adjacent your room. The balcony not being clean enough is unacceptable, and this has been brought to the attention of our accommodation manager. Hopefully you will come back and be able to enjoy the new resort due to open late 2020. Warm regards John Langton General Manager
