The cabins are basic but they have everything you need. Comfortable, enough space for a weekend trip, decent kitchen equipment. Would definitely recommend for families, friends or couples. Definitely get a cabin and not a tent spot as the cabins are cheaper and the tent spots are terrible.

Serviceable Cabin... it's in the name. Not the Ritz, but you don't want it to be. It's clean, comfortable, and has a community feel with the shared bbqs and open seating. The cabin has an ensuite toilet and shower, stove, oven, and microwave and sink so you, or the kids, can do the dishes. Fantastic decent size fridge and freezer. Beds for a couple, family or friends... A queen and 2 bunk beds in ours Although the other chalets are close by, it's also relatively quiet... Unless Pinky's has live music, then maybe not until 11ish, but even that wasn't unbearable. Overall a decent comfy cabin to chill with Rotto vibes for a few days.

My friend and I stayed in a Caroline Thomson Cabin in 2021 and it was surprisingly good. Basic, but good and clean. It was equipped with beds, fridge, and stove, as well as an ensuite bathroom with toilet and shower. Wonderfully, it was walking distance to both Pinky's Beach and Thomson's Bay shopping area. Each cabin is set comfortably apart from neighbours, so it was beautifully quiet.

Basic but loads of fun for a family of 4, kids aged 9&11. We had a blast! Comfortable, tranquil, self contained, 2 mins from beach. Visits from quokkas. Surrounded by pine trees. Just loved it! We've been twice, once in summer once in winter. Had a blast both times and we'll be back for sure.

5 minutes walk from the Pinky Beach and Beach Lighthouse. It may be small but it is fully equiped for a family meal. We bought our groceries at Rottnest General Store. Pasta, eggs, fresh tomatoes, garlic, smoked salmon and lime juice, we headed to the cabin to change into our swimwear. Putting everything into the fridge, we walked to the fine sandy pathway that led us to the beach. Hours in the water, hunger strikes in. My children continued to play with their sandcastle toys outside the cabin while my husband catch up on his emails as he sat on the picnic seat and greeted by curious quokkas searching for food. Boiled my pasta on the stove and grilled my tomatoes and salmon in the oven. Poured the chilled lime juice on champagne glasses. Minutes later, food is served... The picnic seat is enough for us to enjoy our dinner as we were entertained by the quokkas scavenging around the area. Beware, do not leave anything outside your cabins. The quokkas are very curious. It will turned things topsy-turvy.…

Yes it’s cheap accommodation but not very comfortable. We weren’t told that luggage wouldn’t be brought to our room and just happened to find our bag sitting by the road when we went out for dinner. A notification that it had been dropped off would handy. We brought our own sheets, but the blankets they provide are so itchy and rough I had to put a towel over myself to be able to get some sleep, and not sure how clean those are as the bed became full of sand. so bring a Doona too! We had a very noisy night with lots of people yelling and shouting around us. One upside is kids enjoyed the quokkas being close by.

By way of introduction, this accommodation was very challenging to rate. The four rating is as compared with other similar camping / basic accommodation. Compared with ALL accommodation it would be three at best. Visited Rottnest with our daughter and her family including three kids ages 7, 5 and 2. As we walked into our cabin we were met with a smell that was somewhere between vomit and rotting organic matter! As we were expecting basic accommodation, we stoically poured Dettol down every drain we could find and just blocked out the smell. This changed when the site admin rang us to say the previous occupant had complained of bed bugs! When we mentioned the smell, two very competent, pleasant and friendly ladies turned up and identified the smell as rotting detritus in the fridge trip tray and easily dealt with. We all agreed that bed bugs don't inhabit metal beds with plastic mattresses. Our daughters cabin had no odour at all. The cabin was well equipped with all that one might need for a short stay including tea towels, washing up liquid, all necessary kitchen utensils and plenty of loo paper. There was a never ending supply of hot water. The beds were comfortable but sheets (had to be pre-ordered) and blankets only so if you feel the cold at night, thermal jammies a must. We got used to branches or pine cones dropping on the roof with a bang which was disconcerting until we worked out what it was. After a long day at the beach, we just got the BBQ (fixed gas with electronic ignition provided free of charge) going when an hour long power cut ensued. Not to do with the cabin but still worth knowing I think. Overall these cabins were fine but not if you like your creature comforts hence the title of this article. Enjoy.…

We stayed for a week at the end of January in a 6 bed cabin and it was perfect for our family and good value for Rottnest. The compact kitchen has everything you need, including microwave oven and good size fridge. Beds were comfy, you need to bring your own linen & towels or hire from visitors Centre, but pillows and blankets are provided. Communal bbqs outside each cluster of cabins were cleaned daily (though ours didn’t get super hot, making it hard to cook steak etc), picnic table and seating on each verandah. Short walk into town or the basin and pinky’s beach is right there (though construction of new glamping tents made this beach not as attractive). Hopefully they will rebuild the tennis courts and basketball hoop once construction is over, as it was great to have that so close the last time we stayed. Overall the cabins are great value and make for an enjoyable family getaway. Book at least 12 mths in advance for peak season.…

Your not here on Rottnest to spend quality time in your accomodation, you are here to explore! I had a Caroline Thompson Cabin to myself (the end of off season) and it had absolutely everything I needed and was the perfect place to lay my head. I loved how the cabin had utilised space by installing these stainless steel large shelving units to house a small oven with cooktop, microwave, sink, crockery & cutlery... pots and pans. Very practical. It was still cold at night so the provided blankets & heater were very sufficient for a girl from Cairns! Clean & comfortable. I travelled light so I had my own pillow cases and sleep sheet as you need to bring your own linen or hire some in advance. So happy I came at this time of year. I loved my cabin!

We stayed for 5 nights during the October school holidays. It was the first time our kids had been to Rottnest. We bought across sleeping bags, towels etc as they don’t supply linen or towels. There are two sets of bunk beds and a queen bed. A small kitchen to make the basics and a fridge, microwave & oil heater for the cooler nights. We payed just over $100 per night which is ok for what we got. The cabins are close together but everyone around us was very respectful. There are communal bbq’s and a quick ride or walk into the main area will get you all the groceries you need. But beware they are pricey and meat and bread sells out early. Not far from the cabins is the basin which is a lovely but busy swimming spot. This accommodation is one up from camping but it’s still basic. But we spent most of our days exploring the island. …
