Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in a cute little chalet. Perfect size for two people. We spent the day exploring the local area and our nights curled up by the fire with a glass of local port. The hostess was warm and welcoming and totally accommodating to our requests. The value for money was outstanding and the surrounding forest was stunning

What a little gem! A wonderful hideaway from the hustle and bustle. No internet, tv reception, phone service - nothing! And how great was that. Two days/nights of listening to kookaburras , an abundance of wildlife and a variety of wonderful rescue animals on lush green farmland. Rammed earth chalets, lovely and clean, wood fires, lots of lush grass to run and play for the kids and walk trails. Take your own food etc, the little town of Northcliffe is definitely limited in what they can offer and there is no popping into the shops. Leonie the lovely hostess has a heap of DVDs if you require some form of entertainment in the evening. It’s not out first time and it definitely will not be out last 😊 Thank you Leonie

Delightful, welcoming host. Recommend for people looking to get off the network, fire up the wood heater and play some scrabble with their loved one/s. Small eco touches with the compost bin, wood fire, etc. Bed was very comfortable. A kitchen makeover and other small improvements could see this accommodation charging much higher rates.

Our family had a lovely time at Riverway Chalets and exploring the forests and walks in and around Northcliffe. The host was very generous with her time, introducing the kids to her rescue animals and advising us on places to see and do. The chalet had all that we needed and in a picturesque setting. The wood fire would be most inviting in winter time. Instead, we made use of the BBQ and maypole! Our thanks to the host and family.

My family and I absolutely loved staying at Riverway Chalets! Our chalet had a fireplace and an amazing view of the beautiful, green forest in the backyard and front yard. We saw Kookaburra's and all sorts of native birds and also Kangaroos! The business focuses on rehabilitating animals. There are horses, sheep, rabbits, ducks, chickens and ponies - to name a few. They also have the friendliest work dogs you'll ever meet. Each and every single one of the animals get along perfectly, like an animal kingdom in perfect harmony! Our stay here was relaxing and enjoyable, with every fun activity only around a 30 minute drive away! My family and I will be coming back in a few months time, We can't wait! :]

Our stay was disappointing. We live in Western Australia on a 50 acre property. We are aware of the bush lifestyle etc. The owner needs to take on constructive feedback instead of the unprofessional comments given back to paying visitors. We found the chalet uncomfortable. The owner was aware we had a toddler with us and the only heating available were 2 tiny oil heaters which our toddler kept attempting to touch. Extremely dangerous and not relaxing for us as parents. I also tripped and fell on a loose drain grate by the garage. Again, this is hazardous. Especially as I was pregnant at the time.

This is a mixed review. Loved the fact this place was an animal rescue and of the grid with no phone reception or TV however there was a number of spiders and webs throughout the Chalet- bedroom/bathroom/everywhere not ideal for two borderline arachnophobes. We definitely laughed it off while counting all the spiders before bed and in the morning. A few other things the oven didn’t work and there was a pool of oil in the bottom of it. A few stray hairs from previous guests or housekeeping in the cutlery draw and bathroom. We loved chopping our own wood and watching the sunset over the paddocks with the silhouettes of the horses. The bed was extremely comfortable and soft linens. Check in was easy and the owner was friendly and on point with recommendations ie. lane pool. We weren’t advised if there was wifi or any way to contact reception in case of an emergency. No phone in the room or evacuation plan. We had hoped to spend more time in the cabin relaxing but due to the above mentioned we decided to venture out more. The price was affordable and the location was great. With a bit of attention to detail and a deep clean the Chalet would have been much more enjoyable.

Response from Leonie Burt, Owner at Riverway Chalets

Dear Sfick, thank you for your review. In response, I would like to point out that our website clearly states that there is no Free to Air TV or wifi at the Chalets. The information is also made available on your Check-in Registration. If you had notified Reception that there were issues with spiders we would have eradicated them for you, however arachnids are known for rebuilding webs within 30 minutes and due to the extremely high ceilings in the chalets it is very difficult to remove all of them. I have only ever seen Daddy Long Legs, so would be surprised if there was anything more sinister in your chalet. Upon checking, the oven is working and if you had read the "How to Light the Oven" in the Information Folder, I don't think you would have had an issue. We are always happy to help guests and address any issues, but we can only do this if we are informed. I hope that you enjoyed your time in the beautiful south west. It is definitely a magical part of the world.

We enjoyed our stay at Riverway Chalets! It was exactly the experience we were looking for! No wi-fi, no reception, no outside distraction! The perfect place for a digital detox! The bedroom was big and comfortable with the bathroom right next to the room. Fully equipped kitchen with everything you need! Toaster, microwave, kettle, fridge, stove with oven, etc. We felt just like home! In the evenings we enjoyed a good movie (you can rent DVD's from the reception) and light up the fire for a cosy atmosphere. During the day we relaxed and visited the Animal Rescue right next to the reception and as well other touristic attractions in the area. We highly recommend this place to anyone who loves nature and animals and wants to relax in a peaceful setting in the heart of the forest. You will not find WI-FI in the forest, but you will find a better connection! ;)
