Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed overnight on my trip up north as Covid has most of the usual spots booked to capacity and my swag was foolishly packed on a truck.

Location is right on the highway, so expect the volume and vibrations of road trains all night.

Room had stains on the walls and floors that appeared to be from a murder or orgy, or probably both? And a few battle scars I.e windows held in place by duct tape, damage to most surfaces and a front door that looked like it may have been borrowed from the pig who built the straw house. Overall however, surfaces seemed clean enough and I felt comfortable enough to sleep on top of the bed covers (in my own sleeping bag).

The hotel doubles as Chinese takeaway and a bar, so dinner was sorted (I figured I’d rolled the dice hard enough with the room, why not double down and try the food). Fried chicken noodles were actually nice, I was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel offers a secure parking area for those with rooms on the street, it’s a fenced compound by the store front. They closed it around 9pm and opened it at 6am, so that offered some peace of mind.

I only dealt with one guy who seemed to be the owner, he was super friendly and as helpful as he could he. Props to his cheerful disposition for making me feel better about my life choices.

Overall, this is literally a place to sleep. Keep your expectations basic and your mind open. Oh, and also the curtains had stars cut into them, so that was nice…? I think. You know what they say about aiming for the moon.

… Do not book for your honeymoon.

Rang ahead and booked. Arrived later than advised but not a problem. Lady (was owner but can't remember her name ) was very helpful and obliging. Now this is not the Ritz and doesn't look much from the outside, but for a bed overnight it's ok for the price. Double bed was comfortable, had a good flat screen TV and separate bathroom. We had an issue with water not being hot enough and shower head not staying in place, but this was attended to and rectified straight away. Only complaint is that floor coverings could have been cleaned. Also had nice Chinese takeaways on site which was thoroughly enjoyed.

We stayed for one night at this establishment, the staff were helpful and courteous and a good deal was had with their meals.
The accommodation I think may have been an old donga, it was very run down with a fresh coat of white paint trying to do a revival. The fittings and furniture were in dire need of replacement.
We had no hot water for our shower in the morning.
But at least the bed was comfortable

The Chinese food here was really bad. I ordered my usual favourites from the extremely limited menu. The satay beef was hard in a watery sauce (microwaved I suspect and even the fried rice was watery and the sweet and sour pork were hard lumps in a watery liquid.

This place should be shut down. Booked through booking.com and I expected better. The building is so run down and the room was filthy. Both taps in the shower fell off, stained and dirty carpets and no milk or teabags.

When I arrived at the Meeka I was not sure if this was a hotel for accommodation? a bar to have a drink or a take away food shop. Then I discovered it is all three. The Meeka is a very very very basic hotel and it does not supply toiletries and I would not recommend it for families. Secure parking in a compound over night, which is nice and secure. The air conditioner worked really well. On the down side there is a lot of road noise all night as it is located on a busy highway.

I had the pleasure of stopping by the Meekatharra hotel on my way to Broome, completely exhausted I was served a wonderful meal in a clean and cosy room. The manager was a gem and couldn't have done more to accommodate myself and my friend. I would highly recommend this hotel to weary travellers looking for a nice meal and a warm bed in the middle of nowhere. Thank you Meeka staff.

When we first arrived I was worried about what we'd gotten ourselves into.
But looks can be deceiving, this old hotel was very clean and comfortable. When staying here make sure you get the hotel's Chinese food it was the best Chinese we'd ever had.

This is a budget outback hotel and you get what you pay for -If you do not like standard outback hotels do not stay here -this is the budget version.
The Good; Clean bedding, comfortable bed / Good Chinese food / TV worked well
The Bad; Old donga had seen better days, furniture worn out and bathroom only just acceptable (by outback standards -not acceptable by modern hotels)
However I would say if you like quality hotels best avoid Meekatharra altogether the other hotels did not look any better.

"Stayed for 2 weeks for work. Staff were fantastic and very accommodating. The chef cooks an awesome meal and the menu changes weekly to fortnightly. Even some secret off the meny dishes. I could not ask for anything more in a place to stay. Rooms were cleaned every day. Food was fantastic. Water was hot. Aircon was cold. What more do you need in meekatharra."
