Very basic. We stayed for one night in the “trailer”, of sorts. Very small but clean. The owner was very friendly and the “booking in” was fast and painless. We left very early the next day and there was no place to return the key.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I will pass on the feedback to the manager about the key so they can make it clearer to guests where they can leave them. Hope to see you there again sometime.

We stayed in a King Van. Very Small but clean. Had all the things you need. Fridge, Toilet, Shower, TV, Air conditioner. The bed was not that comfortable but okay for one night. Had a big breakfast at the Ampol attached to centre and it was amazing. The staff were excellent.

I think the first line on their website says workforce accommodation... says it all really. There's no surprises it's clean, comfortable and air-conditioned. It's convenient to everywhere and there's a servo out the front.
If you hungry they serve up some of the best take-away tucker in town and there's a lollie shop for the sweet tooth.

After spending 6 weeks on the road and staying at a myriad of parks, some very isolated, we believe this the worst of the worst. I have never written a review before but couldnot let this slip. Firstly we just told to go anywhere but it was hard to find a concrete pad that wasn't damaged. Then no power points would work so I had to connect to the next site. There was no sullage points so the water just ran on the ground ! But the big problem was the ablution block, particularly the Male side. The block was never cleaned ! No hand towels ever and the floor and shower cubicles were filthy. On the last night the urinal overflowed ! There was a thick scum in the urinal indicating it has never been cleaned. Does the Park have a cleaner ? Then I went the loo to find no lock on the door ! The other downside was the location...loud trucks all night on the main drag and side street. The town is worth staying for 2 nights but the park really needs to lift it's game. It is just at a terrible standard !

This is actually 1/2 a caravan which means the room is barely big enough to swing a miniature cat...... One side and both ends of the he queen bed are against the wall. You will need some acrobatic skills to clamber over the other person in bed to get in/out of sleeping position. There is a kitchen sink and tiny fridge in the 'Room'. The facilities are run down. Not sure if you find anything better in this 'Middle of nowhere' town.

Our pre-trip research had us staying in another establishment (Auski) but they were fully booked on the day so we rang Meekatharra Caravan Park and were told they had ensuite cabins. Well we have never seen such minute cabins and they were so squashed together that there was nowhere to park beside them. Clearly it was case of catering for itinerant workers and ripping off any travellers that were unfortunate enough to stay here. $140 was far too much for the minute space with no cooking facilities at all and without a camp kitchen that we could see nearby; and we certainly looked for one, nor were we informed if there was one in some obscure part of the park.
The cabins were long metal vans on wheels and divided into two units and were not all that old. The one window was small, the double bed could only be reached from one side, so one person had to clamber over the other to get in, there was a kettle, fridge and one cup and one teabag, one chair and two bath towels. No bathmat and no tea towel, dishcloth or detergent. The TV was above the bed. Then being a divided van and others close the air conditioners are noisy when turned on, and the person next door kept his on, and all night it switched on and off which was very disturbing for sleep.
We had also read a brochure about the town of Meekatharra and expected it to be a fairly forward looking town, but obtaining a meal there drew a blank and we had to resort the low quality take away junk.

We arrived at Meekatharra with our caravan for for an overnight stop on our way to Karajini Park. I have lived and worked in the Murchison Goldfields so I know the score and wasn't expecting anything flash but this place is a shocker by anyone's standards.
We were allocated a site and told that if we preferred we could shift to another one, and tell the office where we were afterwards. Fair enough. The allocated site was within a few metres of the amenities block and as I opened the door to scope out my approach the smell hit us. Think of the urinal in a rough pub after a Saturday night and you'll get the idea.
O.K, It was too late to keep on truckin' so we chose another site further away from the smell, backed in and started setting up. Next problem, having unhitched the car and levelled the 'van I discovered that there was no power. I checked the connections, fuses etc then headed over to the office. "Oh yeah...."..said the guy behind the counter "there isn't power on that site" No apology or useful suggestion.
Memo to self: next time check the power before unhooking.
As our 'van has 12 volt lighting and a gas stove this was no big deal but, as luck would have it a couple of prospectors were camped next door and using the only working power point. On seeing our problem they produced a power board, a roll of gaffer tape and a plastic bag and jury-rigged a double connection. Probably illegal but, what the hell, it worked.
Next step was to sample the amenities block. The showers are in a transportable block and they were dingy and dirty. I know that with all the red dust in this part of the world it is hard to keep anything clean, however, there is no excuse for the rusted, stinking, stainless steel urinal or the suspicious trickle of yellowish fluid on the floor in the closest shower cubicle.
The showers were at least functional and delivered plenty of hot water but this is the first time I have felt the need to wipe my feet as I left rather than as I arrived.
Overall, this park could be quite pleasant - there are plenty of trees for shade and the adjoining convenience shop, petrol station and fast food outlet provides most of what a traveller needs. Meekatharra itself is an interesting town and, with caravanning growing in popularity, a decent caravan park may well encourage people to stay a little longer to the obvious benefit of the local businesses.
We headed out the next day and returned along the coast but had I gone back via the inland route I would have camped out in the bush rather than stayed in that park again.

Hi Madmickx, Thanks for your comments, the owner of the park is not local to Meekatharra. I will pass your review on to him direct so that he is aware of the maintenance concerns/upgrade advice. And I will speak directly with the staff and offer some more training on check ins. Thanks again, Jade.

This is a caravan park designed for transit travellers (overnight stay) or for workers. Not a resort style park. Its functional, safe, secure and serves its purpose well especially for why we stayed there.
We stayed here for a week in the small rooms (dongas) which are on wheels much like a caravan. There is three dongas joined together in each arrangement The park was quite suitable and central to our purpose, which was a prospecting trip metal detecting for gold during the day in various places out and around Meekatharra. Each day we would return back to the caravan park for a hot shower, nice meal and good solid sleep.
The small rooms are actually pretty good. They are clean, have toilet and shower, good bedding (except pillow), reverse cycle air conditioning, bar fridge, TV and coffee/tea making facilities. We got two rooms for $280 each for 7 nights. Rooms only accommodate one person. They have larger Queen rooms for two people or if you like more room to move.
Check in and out standard with no issues. The office is a shop with plenty of food and there is also petrol pumps. Prices reasonable for a remote town. You can walk into town center and grab a bite to eat from other eateries like the excellent burger van or hotel or visit the local Farmer Jacks supermarket which is well stocked to collect supplies.
The Caravan park is on the main road in/out of town so expect road noise especially from large road trains rumbling through plus the myriad of overnighters coming and going or workers with early starts.
Water onsite was good quality. The only complaint if you can call that was the common camp kitchen. That really needs removing and a modern facility built. But for couple of blokes who really only used the BBQ (again, needs replacing) it was OK. The aircon worked and the large TV was good. Best to bring your own cooking utensils, cups, plates etc. as with most common kitchens, these things grow legs and walk never to be seen again.
Overall recommended.

Arrived am Sunday. Booked in for 1 night, told "go around there anywhere" with a hand wave in the general direction. Had to ask location of ablutions and hunt out the "camp kitchen" & bbq. Poorly maintained ablutions.. clean(ish) but in poor repair. All facilities in town closed and park staff had no idea about tourist drives, or anything much at all really. Doesn't appear to be a lot of love in the town for the town. Dissapointed is the word that comes to mind after seeing many small WA towns so far that are very well presented showing pride.
