From when you are first greeted at our foyer in the old loading gantry you'll get a sense that you’re staying somewhere special. We’re a place where an 1890’s flour mill, aerated waters and cordial factory, winery and a power station come to life in a thoroughly modern boutique hotel. Our thoughtfully curated design weaves the old with the new, telling the story of the Mill and its former life.

We were looking for a place to stay to break up out journey from down south WA and found this on Google. A lovely find. The building has been beautifully restored to incorporate the hotel. Our room was lovely with all thr amenities you need. Comfy bed. Large shower and bathroom. Smart tv for connecting devices. The nook which you share in the hall has tea coffee and extra supplies that you made need. Easy quick check in with a friendly chap who explained everything we needed to know. Pre dinner we had drinks downstairs in the bar which has a lovely atmosphere amongst the renovated old mill building and equipment. A Dome Cafe is on the ground floor open till 9pm so it's a great option for coffee etc. We had dinner there which was very convenient and then had dessert as takeaway. Parking is free across the road. We only stayed one night on our way back north but if you wanted to explore the area it is a good central spot.

It was a very unique hotel. Worth a visit . Staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy to find and appears a lot of local and country people stay. A lift makes it easy with suitcases Coffee and tea facilities are located on each floor. Big issues is it very noisy and the door are slammed all the time. My room was shaking. You could hear the activities from next door. Very disappointing. I find it hard to accept this in a expensive hotel

Response from Rod Black, General Manager at Premier Mill Hotel
Responded 27 Sept 2023
Dear 76lyns, Thank you for taking the time to review The Premier Mill and your very kind words for the amenities of the hotel and the service by our team. We sincerely apologise for the disturbance from noise into your room during your stay and although we are a hotel within an 1891 flour mill, this is not a common issue so we will investigate the reasons why this was your experience. We hope to be able to welcome you back in future. Best Regards, Rod Black General Manager The Premier Mill

We had booked for two nights at the Premier Mill as we have stayed there previously and enjoyed the experience. Sadly, I cannot make the same claim this time. Firstly, on arrival we found that we had been placed in a second floor room and that the lift was not working and there were 4 flights on stairs. (we are in our 70s) This was partly compensated by giving us a drink voucher each for "The Cordial Bar" on the premises. When we went for dinner at the Dome Restaurant that is a part of this complex that provides an after five dinner menu, we ended up having to opt for third or fourth choices and virtually everything was unavailable. We faced the same problem the next morning when attending for breakfast. I asked why they had virtually nothing available and was told that their delivery was more than a week overdue. The town is less than 300 km from Perth - they could have driven there and back in a day and collected what they needed. For an enterprise of this size I find it unacceptable they were prepared to endure such a problem. We chose not to eat there on our second night but I did attempt breakfast the second morning. I asked for scrambled eggs on toast and was told this was not available. I asked if they were now out of eggs and the reply was "NO" but they weren't doing scrambled eggs that morning. The staff did not seem to be attentive of customers as each and every time I wanted service I had to stand and wait despite staff behind the counters and no other customers. Some gave the impression that they did not want to be there. I am sorry that this happened as the stay was a gift for my wife and as it turned out, not a good gift.

Nice rooms but for $330 a night one would expect a few more facilities in room . Who wants to walk down the hall to make a cup of tea in the morning or night . The in room fridges are nothing but a miniature cooling space . The restaurant is really a cafe with average food . As for Katanning it’s past it’s used by date nothing to do unless you drive 400 to 600 klms . Culturally it’s a desert , The only good thing about this hotel is it’s clever marketing it sucked me into the vortex of nothing

I cannot speak highly enough of the place. It is a fantastic hotel with a blend of heritage, style and luxurious design. The architectural restoration of the building together with the incorporation of all its historical components makes this a great marriage of the old and new. After staying at its counterpart, the Farmers Home Hotel in Northam, you can see that the same interior designer has been used in both. We were greeted by a warm welcome from the staff and the atmosphere made you feel that you were staying somewhere truly special. Our room, with really high ceilings, had its own private balcony, which made the space feel so spacious. It was well appointed but could have done with more lighting, more storage options and a larger fridge. The bathroom was large, well laid out, with a rainforest shower and a range of Aesop products. Each floor has its own Butler's pantry/nook, with tea and coffee making facilities, extra towels, seasonal fruit and a selection of books and games. Like the Northam hotel, it has Dome Café on the ground floor, facing out over the streets. Plenty of opportunities to watch the world pass by. It also has a small bar, the Cordial Bar, in the basement. Whilst it doesn't have its own secured parking area, there is plenty of on-street parking along Austral Terrace in front of the hotel.

The Premier Mill is a modern boutique hotel, using the shell of the old Premier mill located in the centre of town. It was well fitted out, clean and had all that was needed. The room was small but probably far better than other options. The only issue was lack of parking (street parking only)

Booked the hotel online due to recommendation. It’s perfectly situated in the centre of town and easy street parking across the road. This hotel has been beautifully restored and to a very high standard. We loved the pieces of machinery littered throughout and in our room. The room itself was spacious and had everything we needed. Compact bathroom with full size Aesop amenities. Complimentary water. Huge amount of power points. There are a couple of irritations, not enough lighting in the bathroom, no storage (ok if overnighting) and no wardrobe unless you count just three hangars on the wall. Dome cafe is part of the building and there is a really cool bar in the basement. Barman Dylan was a standout.

Such comfortable, clean, modern facilities in this converted flour mill full of historic reminders of its past life. Our room had a splendid private roomy balcony. The ceiling is so high; helps with impression of history and space. Guest valet system works well; close to room, also. Extra points for supplying the excellent Elmstock teas. Great wine/drinks list in the bar/restaurant of the hotel. Very atmospheric. We have stayed here before and we’d stay here, again. Recommended. About the only slight criticism is a criticism I often make. This is a hospitality venue. First impressions are important. Travellers are often weary. The guest greeter was efficient and courteous, but not warmly welcoming. Also, he showed us to our room, but did not attempt to help with luggage.

What an interesting place to stay. The conversion from flour mill to hotel has been done very well, with lots of interesting old bits of machinery on display including on the ceiling of our bedroom. The room itself was spacious and comfortable with an excellent bathroom and envymaking clever light switches. Our welcome from Laura ( who seemed to be on duty throughout our time there, doing everything from check in to serving at the bar) was very helpful and informative. We ate at both the Dome cafe and the Cordial bar, both excellent, and again friendly and professional staff. Would thoroughly recommend for anyone visiting this area.
