We stayed at the Pelican’s Nest on our way from Margaret River to Exmouth. We found the check in process to be flexible which really helped us out on the day, as it was difficult for us to estimate when we might arrive. Our room was dated compared to places we are used to staying, but we could tell it had been meticulously cleaned. There were added details which made a difference such as nice hand soap and plugs on each of the bedside tables. The shower was good too. Also a full length mirror in the cupboard door was great. Overall a comfortable stay for a very short visit! Thank you

We spent about 10 days here over the school holidays, in one of the two-bedroom apartments, and had a fantastic time.

Craig and Michelle are both dedicated to making sure everything is in order for their visitors, and are hard working and eager to please, going above and beyond in their thoughtfulness and their efforts to make sure we were well looked after. I gather that they took over Pelican's Nest a bit over half a year ago, and it's obvious that they are working hard to do an excellent job all round.

The accommodation was neat and clean, and several special needs we'd asked about (e.g. DVD player) were attended to as well. We were staying with an elderly parent who needed wheelchair/walker access, and the place we'd been allocated was perfect for that, including adjacent parking (even traffic cones to "protect" our parking spot when we went out touring). Everything we needed was provided, including a linen change half-way our stay, and replacement towels every few days.

The location is terrific, just a few minutes walk from the river. All in all, fantastic place to stay, highly recommend.

Don’t be put off by it’s rather modest appearance. New and friendly owners took over late 2022 and have spruced it up nicely inside. We stayed in a ground floor self contained 2 bedroom unit. Everything was crisp and extremely clean and had a gorgeous emu theme filled with quirky Wendy Winks artwork. Blokes - the TV was huge. Full kitchen with plenty of utensils and bowls etc. Shared BBQ facilities were clean and they’d provided oil, paper towels and all required BBQ accessories. Lots of nice plants also make it pleasant to sit outside. It’s just one block back from the beachfront (30 secs) and close to the marine facility for cruises and the IGA. Highly recommend!

A pleasant surprise to be found at Pelicans Nest. We used this as a stop off location to break a long drive up, but wished we had been staying longer. This really felt like a home away from home. Despite the dated decor the apartment was immaculately clean. It had everything you could ever want, washing machine, hairdryer, saucepans, fridge, oven, the list goes on. Efforts have been made by the new owners to brighten up the decor with new art work, new curtains, bedding etc. We had so much room for a family of 4 and would highly recommend. We will be back, the renovations look exciting and next time we will use the BBQ! Thank you for the hosting!

We absolutely loved our stay at Pelican’s Nest and only wished we had booked in for longer.
It is in a great location, central to all amenities in town and just a short walk to Chinaman’s beach. The IGA is just a few minutes walk.
We originally had 2 interconnecting rooms as I had changed my booking from 2 adults to 4 adults. However, Michelle suggested we would be more comfortable in a 2 bed apartment and booked us in one at no extra charge.
The apartment was so lovely and well presented and had plenty of space for us. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need. The shower hot with good water flow, the beds comfortable and everything was immaculately clean.
We used the communal BBQ with its great seating area and had a great night.
The surroundings are beautiful and well maintained. I cannot think of a single fault so if you are thinking of booking, do it!
Michelle and Craig are so lovely and friendly. You could not wish for better.
Thank you guys for the best stay!
I hope we will be back!

Pros: Well situated near IGA and river mouth. Single storey units available. Units clean and supplied with appliances which are easy to use. Lounge furniture is comfortable, TV large. Kitchen equipped sensibly, e.g., pot large enough to cook pasta or a crayfish and a strainer supplied. Large fridge/ freezer. Shower, basin and trough with plenty of hot water and a small washing machine. Kalbarri water is excellent to drink from tap. Lots of cupboard space in kitchen. Ann at reception is very helpful.
Cons: No alternatives for when power frequently goes off in town. Needs gas hob and battery powered lantern. Washing machine extremely noisy as if about to give up. It also leaks, leaving a puddle for unsuspecting sock- wearers to step in on way to toilet. No drier, even to share. Notice asking guests to wait until 12 to hang washing on communal lines, but many people would go out for the day before 12. No table of TV channel numbers, so finding a channel is frustrating when the channel numbers here do not correspond with the channels in Perth, e.g. 92 might be 81 here. No outside power points to charge car fridge before departure.
General: We were here after school holidays, and quiet, but could be noisy during school holidays, as older units face a common courtyard.

After a bit trip from Perth to Exmouth and back in a hire car, of all the accomodation we stayed in, this place really felt like home!
We had a family 2 bedroom fully self contained apartment and we had so much room for a family of four to stretch out and relax!
We had a washing machine and full kitchen to wash and cook.
Michelle and Craig have really thought of everything in the rooms and as far as facilities, everything is just so CLEAN and tidy!!!

You can see they are flat out doing the place up and I can’t wait to make this a place to visit on our next trip to WA to see how it’s all looking!
Michelle and Craig could not have been more helpful and nothing was too much trouble!
10/10 would recommend and will be back 😍

When I walked into the room I was struck by the fresh smell and cleanliness. The bed we had could do with updating, as it felt very spongie.
The TV was small, for a room of that size. The microwave would be better if it was fitted to a shelf, rather than on the bench, taking up valuable bench space.
I did like the way that the cutlery was safe inside a plastic storage.
A very nice place to stay, close to the water and amenities

Centrally located close to coffee shops restaurants and the town centre and just one block back from the beach / river on a lovely quiet street.
This motel is family owned and run which gives you that more personalised service.
We stayed for 4 nights and had an upstairs room with a private balcony. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed and pillows very comfortable. Not a large complex but does offer other types of accommodation they have something to suit most people’s needs.
This is a great little motel well priced and far better than many others in their price range, would absolutely stay there again next time we are in Kalbarri.

This was a real gem. From the wonderful check-in experience to the rooms to themselves to everyone you bumped into around the place it was so friendly. The rooms are compact and well appointed but primarily just spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable with wonderful crisp cotton sheets. I don’t think I’ve ever come across such a quiet air conditioner either! The outside balcony area (we had a room upstairs) was just wonderful. Easy walking distance to the foreshore, the Pelican feeding experience and the lovely Pelican Cafe. Would highly recommend

I am not the owner. Just a guest that stayed there for several days. There were some very well-behaved dogs there at that time and they did stay in the rooms. Art Hulse
