Detailed Reviews

Great location with lovely views over water or paddocks (with kangaroos in evening). 1m deep pool perfect for kids, swings, shared BBQ by patio with large table, in ground trampolines (cabins 4/5 are joined and have their own mini back yard with additional in ground tramp, baby swing & regular swings). Farmer Justin was there to see the animals each morning and the kids were offered opportunities to help if they wished. 3 Shetland ponies who loved a pat (they’re a bit nippy, so watch young kids…but as long as you don’t go near their mouths they are just lovely!) chickens whose eggs can be collected by guests to eat, gorgeous big pig named Karen, who eats EVERYTHING (there is a food bin in your room and you tip it in for her each day!) lots of bunnies to cuddle and Shaun the sheep (who doesn’t mind a carrot!)
We stayed in cabin one facing our over the back paddock…queen bed with Jack and Jill bathroom adjoining second room with 2 sets of bunk beds - I also noticed there was also a portacot stored under one bunk. Huge living space with nice big dining table and a lovely deck with some outdoor chairs. Kitchen well equipped with plates/cups/bowls/frypans/cutlery/chopping boards/bbq utensils etc. stove top, microwave and oven plus full size fridge with freezer.
We hired linen for an extra $10pp so we didn’t need to take sheets/towels. Worth taking your own beach towels if you plan to use the pool though. We were also able to take our dog (we were given price of $290pn or $310pm with dog) who had a ball sniffing around and meeting the animals.
We had no phone connection (Optus/visa phone - apparently Telstra does) - but if you really need it it’s only a 5 minute drive down the road before I could get full 4G.
There is TV with standard free to air channels. Reverse cycle air con. There was also a gorgeous wood fire which I imagine would be great in winter!
We stayed 3 nights and found that was perfect (check in 2pm check out 10am)

Very serene.
Coming from a big city, it’s so therapeutic to gaze out at all that green watching the kangaroos and cows graze.
The kids loved collecting eggs in the morning and playing with the young lamb.
The farm is located a short drive from Harvey so it’s easy to pick up provisions whenever needed. The kitchen is well equipped for home cooked meals.
Farmer Justin provides detailed instructions for self check in, though it would be good if he’d meet guests soon after arrival to give a personal introduction to the farm. Most paddock gates have a “Do Not Enter” sign so it’s a bit confusing as to what engagement with the animals are allowed. We did meet Justin the next morning.
Great bloke!! And he has a few magic tricks up his sleeve to entertain the kids.
The trampoline and swimming pool make this a great farmstay option all year round.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we have a wonderful experience at Blue Hills Farmstay. Everyone in our family had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. You just can't bet cooking bacon and eggs on the outdoor bbq in front of a view like that. Thank you to everyone (including the bunnies, cows, ponies and horses) who helped make our stay the perfect family getaway.

Stayed with family recently, Farmstay/petting zoo is simple. Nice pool, views and grounds. Trampoline was enjoyed by my children. Do not expect to be welcomed in person on arrival. The owner does not stay at the farm. So when we realised the bedroom had no working lightbulb/switch and the Sliding doors do not lock we were unable to contact him as we had no phone reception either. There are lots of cobwebs throughout the main living area ceiling beams. The stove top had a piece of baking paper stuck on top of the faulty hob to warn us not to use it. No pony rides offered. One of the rabbits in the petting cage had conjunctivitis. Feeding the animals was nice, going for a walk up the hills surrounded by Kangaroos and cows was great. I felt the website marketing was different from our actual experience. Not sure it's worth the extra amount of money we paid to stay here over other farmstay's.

We have just returned from an amazing 3 night stay at Bluehills.
This is the perfect family get away. Beautiful setting, friendly owners, well equipped and clean chalets and importantly lots to keep kids entertained so adults can relax.
Lots of nice cafes and day trips around Harvey too!
Will definitely be back.

March 2014 makes it our 5th trip to this delightful getaway so close to Perth. Collecting fresh eggs and having them for breakfast was delicious. The pony and ute ride is always a favourite with the children. Though this time around, the birth of baby bunnies was very special.
Breathing the fresh air, and making a conscious effort to leave iPads and phones unattended was great for the whole family.
Best part, Justin the owner welcomes pets and our 2 Jack Russell's to their great delight had the run of the farm.
We will be back....

Justin was helpful with the booking, passing instructions to reach the farm, and trusting with his guests. We were free to visit the animals at any time of the day and a large pack of carrots supplied. I stayed in chalet 2, there were 3 altogether. Look forward to try chalet 3 when we next visit.

Stayed for an extended long weekend in March.
Chalets were clean and functional and consist of a Queen Bedroom and bunk bedroom with 4 bunks.
Beds were comfortable.
Living area has spectacle views out to the dam in number 3 and the hills in number 2.
Gas hob and Microwave.
Air conditioner in Main area.
TV (HDMI), DVD and Satellite Receiver
Pool also has a spectacle view of the dam and is a kid friendly 1 metre.
Shared area has a BBQ, Trampoline, Playground and large dining table under a Gazeebo.
Farmer Justin is quite the showman and the kids loved him, from the ute rides through the cow paddock, visits to the dam to put the traps out for yabbies, the pony rides and the whip cracking.
They were waiting for his return with baited breath.
Heaps of animals to keep the kids busy in the meantime, with two ponies, Guinea Pigs, Rabbits, Cow, Llama, Cows, Chickens and the Pig.
Would recommend to friends.

Great farmstay just east of Harevy, WA. We had Chalet no.3, I think the best by far as it has the most amazing view from the front balcony. Early morning and early evening saw mobs of kangaroos and a lone emu wandering across the field. It feels remote but you are actually very close to Harvey. Kids get to feed the animals (bag of carrots provided plus hay from the farmer) which comprise ponies and cows andl also rabbits and chickens. Can get your own eggs from the chickens and the farmer provides a pony ride and 'back of a ute' ride with the kids holding on to the cabin..they loved that!. Easy to find and easy instructions provided by Justin (Farmer). The chalet itself was good, we had a few large huntsman spiders in our chalet whcih the kids loved!! Some may not, I had to catch one and remove him because he got a bit too close!!! haha...All part of the country experience! There is also a set of swings and a littel slide and a trampoline and a nice bit of grass to run around in which my kids all took part in. There was an outside BBQ but we didn't use it in the end. Highly recommended, in fact I already have to a number of colleagues at work with kids the same age!

We have been to a couple of farm stays and this has got to be the best. We love it that there are only 3 chalets and each offers panoramic view of the estate. We were at Chalet 1 and it was wonderful waking up to rolling hills and grazing animals. Don't forget to check out the night sky from the balcony on clear nights - it's amazing. Farmer Justin was very friendly and good with the children. He took us on a tour around the estate on his ute and we had lots of fun. Common area with swings, slide and trampoline is great for the kids - overall my girl can't get enough of the farm! Would want to be back again when my younger child is older! Thanks for the great experience Farmer Justin! :)

Hi,
if you compare to other farmstays, the variety of animals is quite limited. There are 2 ponies which the kids can ride on, 1 pig, chickens and rabbits in seperate enclosures and lots of cows and greenaries. In the evening, there's a whole host of kangaroos hopping by the fields but they are wild but lots of them. However the beauty is that you will have a sag of carrots that you can use to feed the animals anytime of the day. The pig will basically eat everything you provide, good way to dispose the kitchen scraps and leftovers.
