Nestled near the beach, Mantarays Ningaloo Beach Resort is celebrated for its inviting atmosphere, where guests can unwind in spacious, well-appointed rooms boasting ocean vistas. The hotel's amenities, including a well-maintained pool and impressive dining options, consistently receive accolades from travelers. While the resort's remote location is appreciated for its beach proximity, some guests find dining costs steep, questioning the overall value. Nonetheless, the resort's cleanliness and the staff's commendable service contribute to a pleasant stay for many visitors.

This is an excellent world class hotel/Resort with a beautiful setting overlooking Sunrise Beach and the Exmouth Gulf.
The rooms are particularly spacious and well equipped, the one and two bedroom apartments ( stayed in all these over the years) have full facilities including dish washer and laundry facilities on each floor.
The pool is fantastic, sitting relaxing with a cocktail in your hand is a must!

We had a couple of dinners in the restaurant which certainly serves very high quality cuisine and great value.

All up a great get-away for Perth folks as well as interstate and international visitors wishing to explore the world renowned Ningaloo Reef and Cape Rage National Park

Nestled a little out of town with its own beach is what is the pick of resorts in Exmouth. The accommodation is spacious and clean and the crew that service the rooms are friendly and helpful. The grounds are elegantly landscaped and are well lit for the stroll back from the restaurant at night. There is a wide range of types of accommodation ranging from units surrounding the pool adjacent to reception and the bar and brasserie to beach front bungalows strung along the shore. These comprise buildings that are split into a one bedroom unit that sits beside a two bedroom unit that boasts a jacuzzi on the deck. These can be combined for a family or group with a shared deck overlooking the beach.

We stayed in a one bedroom beachfront bungalow. The bed was super comfy and the aspect was delightful. While there was a jacuzzi spa bath in the bathroom, we were mindful of how precious water is in this part of Australia, and chose not to use it (although it was spotless!).

There is a well patronised IGA in town which is five minutes drive, located in a shopping precinct that includes a BWS and several surf shops and offices for tours. As for the beach here, it seems more popular for fishing than swimming and snorkelling. Parking your 4WD on the beach with your gear is quite normal and safe on the compacted sand.

This is a well designed, built and maintained resort in a perfect location if you don’t want or need to be in the middle of town. But book ahead, as they are often fully booked.

The difficult search for a high-quality beach hotel in the Ningaloo Reef area in Western Australia (because there are many camping grounds and simple bungalows but hardly any nice hotels) led us to Mantarays, which was a good fit.
The resort consists of several max 1-storey house complexes grouped around the really nice and large pool. It extends right up to the free and empty beach - which stretches endlessly along the coast. The room was large and fine, although not completely new, the bathroom was very nice including a shower and whirlpool bath and separate toilet.
For the worthwhile trips to snorkel or swim, however, you do need a rental car, everything is very spread out - the town center with a few shops and places to eat is also a 45-minute walk away, when the temperature is between 35 and 39 degrees it is better to take the car.
The prices are extremely high in this corner of Australia, however - from the room to the food to the petrol, even in the Red Center around Uluru it was cheaper.

My wife & I stayed at Mantarays Ningaloo Beach, Exmouth on our WA road trip.

We were fortunate to get upgraded to a 2 bedroom ground floor pool view room.

The apartment was beautiful, spacious & very clean. The kitchen had a large fridge, a full size oven/hob, dishwasher & coffee machine & kettle. There was a large dining table & chairs.

The bathroom had a jacuzzi bath, a separate shower unit. There was also a washing machine off the bathroom.

The lounge had a huge sofa & a TV with doors opening onto a sun terrace.

The main bedroom had a large comfortable bed with quality bedding. There were doors that opened onto the sun terrace. Also there were floor to ceiling slated divider blinds between the bedroom & bathroom that could be opened & a sliding door divider to the lounge.

Bedroom two had two single beds.

The resort pool was a good size with sun loungers around it. There was also waiter service whilst at the pool. The pool bar was excellent, with a great choice of spirits & beers.

The beach is a two minute walk away.

The small town is a five minute drive away where there is a couple of IGA’s, a bottle store & boutique stores.

This appears to be the most up market place to stay in Exmouth, and it is certainly very comfortable. It is about 6kms out of town, so a car is essential.

We stayed a week in a one bedroom apartment on the first floor. Our apartment overlooked the car park and marina - if you want a one bedroom apartment this is the only option. Apartments on the ground floor had no view to speak of because of the landscaping.
The one bedroom apartments all face south: possibly an advantage in hot weather, but not so if you would like to sit out late afternoon in August as the balcony does not receive any sun.
The king size bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was large with plenty of shelf space.
The full kitchen (dishwasher, hotplates and oven) is reasonably equipped. There was a grater but, surprisingly given there was a fry pan, no egg lifter or spatula. Don't plan on having poached eggs! The markings on the hot plates were worn off, so a challenge to determine whether they had been turned fully off.
The living room is dominated by a ginormous couch (more like a king single bed) and exceedingly uncomfortable to sit on because of the great seat depth. This meant we opted to sit and read at the table for two which is pushed up against one wall.
The housekeeping staff were the friendliest and most helpful I have ever encountered in extensive travels , both in Australia and overseas.

Though our room enjoyed a wonderful setting looking out over the beach, the sound of the spa pump from the room next door destroys any peace you might want to enjoy while on your balcony. We were offered drinks vouchers of $20 per night (if we stayed in the room) which we accepted as management couldn’t guarantee other one bed beachfront bungalows would be less noisy. We used earplugs for when the pump came on at 6am which seemed to do the trick.

That aside, the beach bungalow was well appointed, clean, comfortable and with a wonderful view.

Dinner at the restaurant was top notch and the bar provides a lovely setting for sunset drinks.

The Mantaray is relatively expensive but does deliver. We stayed in a Superior Room which was large, well presented with a comfortable bed and a terrace with a nice view of the beach and beyond (room 503). The air conditioning worked well. There was a laundry facility nearby which is a plus, but we didn’t use it. The pool area is very nice, with plenty of sun lounges. A very comfortable stay.

I stayed at Mantarays for 2 nights. We had housekeeping coming on the day before checkout who spent about 5 mins just changing over the bins, sweeping near the kitchen and changing towels. We then got dinged $100 upon check-out for extra time to clean the apartment which was not even that messy. They claimed it was from extra time to clean the sand which was from the day prior and should have already been cleaned. Their other issue which they claimed took extra time to clean was to turn on the dishwasher and wash a pot. So whilst it is better than anywhere else in town for a family to stay, you would think for $600 a night, sweeping up some sand on a beach side location would be part of the cost. Be prepared to be massively ripped off for the value of what you spend.
Also I agree with the food reviews, the oysters were from South Australia and were smelly, probably a bit off.

Spacious rooms, large size pool area and excellent food and service. Good location as has pool, beach and marina at your door step, 5 min drive to shops and there is a shuttle bus. Even the standard room was well set out with lots of space and modern clean bathrooms ( shame to see the use of many tiny plastic bottles for bathroom products though) the complex is set up to have a clear vista from resturant, across the pool and out over the sea. However having even part of the pool
under shadecloth would make it more pleasant for many users.
The service given by employees was always of a high standard and very positive. I'd stay again.

I’m a little amazed at all the great reviews this hotel has. I’m not being unfair but I think it’s a 3 star hotel at best. It is in a great spot and probably the best accomodation available but

1. There is no feeling of “ being special” in this place and you have to pay extra for literally everything.
2. The pool lounges have no cushions and the the sun bed cushions had not been cleaned with rubbish and food scraps left underneath
3. The garden maintenance is poor and the property needs landscaping
4. I understand it’s hard to get staff in a remote location and that most are backpackers, but the service is slow and inattentive
5. The rooms are basic and the power went out twice because of a fuse and the pillows were hard. When we asked for these items to be fixed they said nothing could really be done.

I probably sound a grumpy old person but I have traveled quit a bit and I think all places should strive for excellence despite the lack of competition

Further to my remark, please discard the comments related to “stromatolites”, “shell beach” and “eagle bluff” as those are close to Shark Bay at Denham, not near Exmouth. Sunset at lighthouse, turquoise bay, oyster stacks are good options for the day.

Hi there, as indicated above, if you have a car you can drive yourself around to the areas where you can snorkel (Oyster Stacks and Turquoise Bay, etc). This is the cheapest option and the areas are easy to drive to and access as it is only about an hour from Exmouth. Hire of snorkel, mask and flippers is under $20 per day. Cheap. If you are going to do a few days of swimming/snorkelling, it would probably be best to buy some. There is a place in town (near the IGA supermarket) that was selling sets of snorkels, goggles and flippers for only $40. You will also have to pay for a national park entry to the Ningaloo area, which i think was about $13 - also pretty cheap. We did not go on a snorkleing tour, but obviously they are more expensive. Be careful who you choose. We saw a couple of "dodgy" looking operators. I do not think that a wetsuit is necessary as the water is quite warm - your biggest issue will probably sunburn - so sunscreen and/or adequate coverage is definitely recommended (ie: wear a rashie shirt/vest) Cheers!!
