Certificate of Excellence
There's camping, there's glamping and then there is Sal Salis! But Sal Salis offers so much more than just accommodation: a digital detox, an opportunity to reconnect with nature, guided activities focusing on the extraordinary landscapes and wildlife, chef prepared meals, an open bar and the lightest footprint all make Sal Salis one of the world’s best and true eco-luxe experiences. Sal Salis offers 16 tented rooms, each with private eco-bathroom. The social heart of the camp has views of the reef and the breakers beyond. A bar and open lounge area with a small reference library provides a great spot to sit out the heat of day. Guests may help themselves to a selection of beverages from the bar. Chef prepared meals feature local produce and dinner is shared with other guests against a back-drop of rich orange sunsets. The tariff includes accommodation, meals, beverages from the bar, use of snorkel & water sports equipment and guided activities.

We spent three nights that Sal Salis. An amazing location, brilliant food, friendly and attentive staff who made a family of five feel welcome, including a chatty six-year-old. The adults are divers, but we felt snorkeling on the reef was so fantastic that we had no real desire

Thanks for your review DivingNa and we are all really pleased you loved your Sal Salis experience, snorkeling on the Reef and our yummy food. Chatty children are always welcome, we love to see them grow and learn through being out and about in nature. We hope to welcome you all back again one day!

I was skeptical of the reviews. Two near-teenagers and no wifi? How could this work?

With breathtaking beauty, a commitment to the surrounding environment, education and staff who just want to make the experience great, that's how!

We loved the accommodation, the activities

This property will not suit everyone however for us it exceeded all expectations. The locations remoteness in the Cape Range National Park on the edge of the Ningaloo Reef was breathtaking. The tent accommodation (ask for Tent 8) with its magical sunset view of the Hump Back Wha

Do yourself a favour and research this location and property a LOT before you travel there! Including the weather! Essentially, don’t be and ignorant traveller!

Dear S4Sierra, apologies that I have been slow to reply. I have been in Portugal on holiday and whilst I LOVED the great cities of Lisbon and Oporto and the monumental history of that country I HATED how busy it was .... there were just tourist throngs on every corner, lined up outside every church, even outside a bookshop (which we had to pay 5 Euros to go inside!). I was just another number pounding the pavement. It was a great reminder as to how special Sal Salis and the incredible nature that surrounds the camp is and why we must always keep the numbers small. I am so glad that you loved your stay and I think your review is one of the most quirky and fun and accurate .... thank you for taking the time to write! Cheerio for now Amanda! PS - Portugal is well worth a visit, but steer clear of September as it is one of the very busiest months.

Lovely people running it, decent food, great set up, not so great in un-ideal weather. Not sure the price is worth what you get as hotels in Exmouth proper can service the reef well which is why you are there. Great beaches, views, gorges, walks etc around Sal Salis, so it is wor

Good morning - as I sit here the sky is blue, the sun is warm and it is only the second day of Spring. Sadly, you were not so lucky and we do understand how disappointing it is when things are not perfect. Being a true camp (and not a lodge) we do keep a very light footprint (being both something we believe in and something National Parks requires of us) but that means rain, cold and wind are not our friends! It is disappointing (for everybody) when bad weather impacts on our guests. But you are right, our surrounds are stunning - the Reef, the white sand beaches, the Cape Range and our team do their best no matter the challenges ... Thank you for your review and for visiting Sal Salis, Amanda

Hello! My husband and I are traveling from South America. We will be in New Zealand and Australia. We had planned to go to port douglas to dive in GBR but Salis Salis sounds like a unique experience in life. It's a very long trip from New Zealand, do you think it's worth it? Ningaloo is going to be the most important point of our trip in Australia for the amount of time and budget invested. thank you very much!
I forgot to ask when you are travelling as well as Sal Salis is closed from I think from November - March because of the cyclone season and the intense heat. That said if you are travelling outside of those dates then it is amazing to stay at Sal Salis for 4-5 days and then do 4-5 days on the Sal Salis boat as we had friends who went on to do that and they said it was amazing and the diving, food, stars etc were out of this world. If the dates don't work out and you were looking for somewhere nice and remote on the east coat, then if its diving you want to do then go to the Hayman Islands as the resorts there is lovely and the reef and diving is still very good. If you want somewhere remote with great food and a really relaxed atmosphere then try Orpheus Island which is a helicopter ride from Townsvile airport ( 30 mins ), or you can catch one from Cannes at more expense ( 90 mins ) but both are stunning rides over the reef and ocean. The island is big but the resort is small and only has around 20 guests at a time and you can paddle board, kayak, go out in little boats with a picnic and do a bit of fishing or you can pay to charter the big boat and go to the outer reef and do some amazing snorkelling on reefs that are totally un-spoilt. Hope this helps

Hi we are looking for accommodation between 26/27th Dec for 3-7 nights do you have anything available?
You should contact SalSalis directly to ask a question regarding availability. I know that they close down due to cyclone season / heat at some stage over Summer.

Hi, Our son in law would like to take us on a trip to Ningaloo and we will be camping on the Ocean. I'm not sure what the name of the site is. My main concern is that there are no showers. Is there any way we could get a shower (any pay showers) in the area? This is a big concern for me. Thank you sooo much.
Sal Salis is a luxury all inclusive eco-safari camp and does have en-suite solar-powered showers. If you are camping elsewhere, Google australias coral coast for details of other places that offer showers.

Is Sals suitable for young children, 5 and 7?
Yes, it is great for young children, particularly in introducing them to reefs and marine life in that the reef is literally a few metres offshore so there are not the logistics involved with boats and deeper water. Our minimum age is in fact 5 years, however, ideally the children should be able to swim in order to make the most of the experience. I should also point out that at Sal Salis, parents do need to be involved in the activities with their children - we are not the type of camp where there are the facilities or staff that children can be left while parents head off on their own activities.
