Had a private room, the walls were made of corrugated metal (it’s like being inside a container) and there was no window, but the air conditioning worked well. The door was hard to open. The shower was good, but there is a window in the bathroom which is see through (with no curtain or opaque glass).

The common kitchen was big, with tables to eat outside, but I would recommend using bug spray.

My wife and I booked in for 6 nights on the back of good reviews on Hostelworld but it bore no resemblance. The double room was very basic. Shower was good but either that or the basin leaked so bathroom floor constantly wet. The worst thing was the kitchen. Hardly any cutlery or mugs, just plastic beakers and plates and not particularly clean. Lots of dirty pans left lying around. The small lounge was ok but the outside eating area dirty and cheerless. My wife hated it so much that we left after 2 days and booked into somewhere more expensive but nicer. Having just stayed at an excellent backpackers hostel in Perth, the contrast couldn't be greater. Can't believe it has good reviews.

It’s ok, it’s essentially a tin shed and not very clean however the air con worked really well and I found the bed comfortable enough; the shower is also powerful and runs hot. The linen is pretty disgusting on the bed aswell as the towels so definitely bring your own if you can. The use of the rest of the resort is a bonus, the pool area is nice & the bistro on-site is surprisingly good. We stayed during the week but heard the bar gets busy over the weekend. We were only there to do the tours anyway so for all the time you spend in the room it’s fine. WiFi isn’t free.

This place is falling apart. Room walls are literal corrugated metal, doors are insanely hard to unlock, the shower was mouldy, basin cracked, vanity mirror rusty, toilet dishevelled. I think the staff do the best they can with the cleaning and the maintenance is bare minimum, but you can’t polish a turd.

The whole place is in desperate need of a total overhaul.

Not to mention no wifi and the kitchen looks like it only has cutlery and utensils that have been left behind by past travellers.

Wanted to leave after the first night but they have a strict no refund for early departures policy at their reception because they know most people wouldn’t tolerate this.

The price was low so my expectations were aligned. The room and bathroom were clean and the bed was comfortable with fresh linen. Helpful staff and located a short 5 minute walk to shops. The fridge in the room was handy.

Another YHA to stay in - our own double room for a fraction of a hotel price - great kitchen - great guests - great owners. Wonderful eateries and shopping nearby plus loads of day trips on your door step. Perfect

Obviously its a backpackers and its cheap so don't expect luxury. You will however find it has everything you need and its comfortable. Great ambience. Well equipped camp kitchen and plenty of facilities within the potshot resort. swimming pool, great bar. laundry and helpful staff at the front reception.

The hostel is adequate for a hostel - the rooms are large and kept clean, the kitchen facilities are great and again in a clean state. The common areas aren't as good, with the TV room very dingy, but there is a great communal BBQ area to sit around and meet people at.

Overall given the limited options in Exmouth I'd say this is a good option to go to, it's just quite pricey and not the usual YHA standard given the captive market in Exmouth. But nothing wrong with it.

Stayed in this hostel in December 2012. The room was small but en-suite with air condition and TV. We could also use all resort facilities - bar, restaurant, pub and swimming pool. Had dinner in the restaurant, great and fresh food. We also stayed for a couple of drinks in the bar, which was great option to have as there is not many places in town to choose from.

There are 3 packpacker hostels in Exmouth and I checked out all before making my decsion. Excape is the best of the bunch, and I did have a good time.

The dorm rooms are HUGE, with 7 beds (why the single?) and a really decent en-suite bathroom. They all have aircon and full length curtains that cover the entire windows. Unfortunately there is no other furniture so no locker for your valubles, but room to spread your belongs about if that is your habit.

Everything was clean, although as I was there in low season I'm not sure how high the standards are- the morning I had a lie-in the girl who was cleaning did the bare minimum in the bathroom only, and as only 2 of us had used it there wasn't much to do.

As others have pointed out, the rooms are in a block directly behind the pub garden and Friday night is party night in Exmouth. This comprises of a DJ, the dressed up locals and a very loud sound system. It went on to just after midnight, which didn't bother me, but if Saturday morning is an early start for you you may want to explore other options.

The central area is an open but undercover space with plenty of benches and barbeques for your use. This wholearea is very unprepossessing but it does leave you options depending on what you're cooking, and how social you feel.

The kitchen is directly off this and has several fridge freezers, with labels and sometimes a pen provided. There is a fair few cooking pots and implements but in busy season you could be queueing for their use.
The whole area was cleaned daily and seemed to be kept that way.

The staff on the front desk were all friendly and happy for me to extend my stay one night at a time.

I'd just like to point out that the bottle shop there is the cheapest I've ever bought from!!

There are 2 swimming pools on site, one with a pool bar that is very nicely set out, and the food from here is very good.

Overall, a very successful stay, and pretty good bang for your buck
