Detailed Reviews
Good location close to beach and town for shops and food outlets. Staff very welcoming. Beware that large group of male long term visa group who are working in Vineyards are staying there and get up before 5 am every day and are very noisy. Also noisy in the evenings too.

The DBL is a 1 minute walk to the awesome Pour House Bar/restaurant, 2 min walk to the Dunsborough shoreline, 3 mins to the best coffee in town, and 5 to get to Coles and all other shops you might need!
It really feels like you are staying in a house when you're staying at the DBL- the owners are very welcoming and the guests are super social and easy to make friends with. It's a perfect place for either a weekend away from Perth or for a longer term backpacker doing farmwork or just enjoying the stunning SW!
Large balcony and outdoor area to chill in, nice spot for watching movies, comfy rooms, and clean bathrooms

We arrived at DBL in December 2016 and ended up leaving in May! Best hostel I've stayed in by far, not looking forward to going back to regular hostel life! Cam and Jules were amazing, they create a great atmosphere and were often organisers of legendary occasions! Apparently the rest may have been organised by some other guys, I think they might have been Irish? Anyway, I will miss you guys and can't wait to come back and visit for some more awesome times 😊
The facilities and location are great, such an amazing base to have living in dunsborough in summer and while tackling the joys of farm work. Can't recommend it anymore!
Thanks for putting up with me....
Hope to see all the dunsborough family for more times ahead! ❤️

My friends and I stayed two nights in what would usually be a quad share room with ensuite which you'd share with complete strangers, but we paid to have the room to ourselves.
The room was not big enough to swing a cat, so luckily we were close friends as I would hate to be that close to three complete strangers.
There was an external balcony door in the room, however you could not open this because a set of bunk beds were crammed into that space, so if you wanted fresh air you had to climb across someone's bed to open the door.
Even though there was another external door in the corridor right next door, this also wouldn't open, so if you wanted to access the veranda you had to climb out across the bunk beds, or walk through the rest of the lodge just to access the veranda, and then once you made it out to the table set up outside of your room you could only sit there during the day as there were no lights at all out there.
The rooms smelt of whatever else all of the other people staying there were cooking, and as said above you could not open a door or window to air it out.
No bath mats in the ensuite, so you just walk your wet body through the rest of your room.
Yes it's cheap, yes it's in a great location, but never again will I stay there. I'd rather sleep on a park bench thanks. At least you could enjoy the space and fresh air.

Response from Cameron M, Owner at Dunsborough Beach Lodge
Responded 25 July 2016
Dear Belinda, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It is through feedback like yours that we are able to improve the lodge. We are very disappointed to read that your stay here was a negative one, however we are happy to report that the lodge has recently come under new management. Per your review, we do know that a few of the rooms may be on the smaller side, this is why we do our best to limit the number of people per room, regardless of how many beds are there. With that being said it’s our pleasure to inform you that we have been in the process of updating the lodge, as keeping a well maintained and comfortable property is our priority. We are glad that you were able to appreciate our prices and prime location. We hope that with our recent changes and upgrades to the lodge that you would have a much more enjoyable stay here. If you would allow us the opportunity we would love to be able to show you our new and improved property. Kind regards, New Management

We stayed here for one night in a twin ensuite room.
The hostel has 2 kitchens, one is smaller and the other is bigger.
There is no free wifi.
Everyone at the hostel seemed pretty friendly.
The hostel is located pretty much in the centre of the town and is really close to the beach.
Good price for a one night stay.
The room while not bad could've been a little cleaner.

Dear Eric, Thank you for reviewing our property. We are glad you were able to enjoy the proximity to the beach and being central to town. We are aware that your stay was in 2015, but as new management as taken over we wanted to reach out to you to let you know that we are now offering free Wi-Fi and we have updated our rooms. If you would like to stay with us again in the future, we would appreciate the chance to change your average experience with us to an excellent one. Kind regards, New Management

First off we were greeted by Cam, the owner, as we booked in. He was instantly easy to get along with, made you feel welcome and was happy to help throughout my stay with anything he could. His attitude encourages and spreads the right type of atmosphere in the hostel.
Newcomers are always quick to make friends with the whole hostel and form part of the group as everyone gets along.
The setup of the place is great. Is will suit any mood your in on any given night; You can cook and socialise in the kitchen, if you fancy more of a chilled quiet night you can go upstairs in the tv/xbox room or for something a little more livley like a few drinks, game of pool or ping pong.,you can go in another.

Close to town and the beach. We had a double room with a bathroom and direct balcony access. Can’t complain for the price. Great kitchen facilities with heaps of room. I’d stay again if I was in the area.

Avoid this place if you want a place to actually sleep. There is no curfew, so you will be able to sleep only from 3 AM to 7 AM, and over the night there is no one to deal with the noisy cohabitants. If you are in to make friends or you are in party mode, this place might be for you.
Spent one night in Apr 2018, at 10PM the others guests were kicked out of the pub (as it was closing) and continue to party in the lodge premises until 3 AM, banging doors, playing music, cracking up jokes, trying to open the door of our private room, etc. Not the best experience, but it seems that unlike us, they were having fun, that's why the two stars.

Got to be honest, I'm not really a hostel sort of person, so I've got to comment from the point of view of someone who's old and past it, and would have stayed at a hotel had there been one available.
I think the youngsters had a lot of fun, it all seemed pretty relaxed and there was plenty of drinking and music until well into the night. Unfortunately there didn't seem to be an option for those who actually needed a night's sleep. Not complaining - I was in the wrong place, and I was well aware of what to expect when I booked.
