Dunsborough is a lovely base for this part of Australia being a quaint town on it's own and also very close to Margaret River and all the wineries in the area. We very much enjoyed Lanterns Retreat's location walking distance to the beach and the town. Serge was a very good host and interesting conversationalist with his passion for jazz and art (we even bought one of his paintings!).

I cannot recommended this property highly enough. Originally booked for 2 nights and ended up staying 5.. My room was large, very clean, with period furniture and a very very comfortable bed. Also included a large separate shower and double spa. The Air con was self regulated and ran very quietly with a bedside light suitable for reading. There was also a small microwave, kettle and fridge which i used for breakfast. There are only well maintained residential properties around the lodge and I felt very secure in my room on the ground floor.
I looked at quite a number of places to stay but so glad I picked this property.
Very popular so dont forget to book ahead. I stayed during the week and was just luckly to be able to book some extra days. I would not hestitate to return again.

Our host was friendly and welcoming, the location (just a short stroll from the beach and also the centre of town) was perfect. Our room had lovely French doors opening out on to the gardens and our en-suite contained a magnificent bath big enough for two of us to bathe together.
Our host had kindly compiled a list of his recommended restaurants and tourist attractions which we found helpful.
Our bed was too soft for our tastes but honestly that is a personal preference and I’m sure If we’d mentioned it to Serge and Lanterns wasn’t filled to capacity we would’ve been moved. Even though it was full we still felt we had our privacy. Such a lovely romantic summer getaway in the perfect location. Thank you for your hospitality Serge we would recommend your place time and time again

My wife and i had a fantastically peaceful weekend at Lanterns retreat. The room was exceptional, we stayed in "the baudin" suite which had a balcony, spa, large shower, spacious living area and an exquisite bed. We had such a wonderful time that we have booked a return trip. Sitting on the balcony listening to the birds do their thing in the trees was so relaxing accompanied with a glass of wine. Luxurious would sum up our experience.
The location is great too, Just a 5 minute walk to dunsborough town for a breakfast in the morning or at night for eats and drinks. You could also stroll down to the beach. We really enjoyed our time at Lanterns retreat and it feels like a little corner of paradise. We wpuld recommend for everyone to experience a stay there.

Fantastic location . Walking distance to the beach and town . Rooms were clean and great value for money . The lodge was fully booked but rooms were very private and we were not joined to another room . Super helpful host .

The environment created at this lodge can be felt as soon as you are welcomed at the door. I felt the weight of the world disappear walking into the residence & Surge made the check in quick and easy and was very welcoming. My room was nice and roomy and the bathroom was huge.

Amazing stay at Lanterns Retreat and what a warm welcome we received, Serge was very welcoming and made you feel at home. Beautiful huge room King spa Suite the balcony was my favourite so chilled sitting out there listening to the birds in the morning.
Great Location to the main strip of Dunsborough lots of cafes, bars, restaurants just a walk away and really close to the beach lots of nice secluded spots.

My third stay at Lanterns Retreat. Absolutely love it. Every comfort has been thought of … beautiful rooms, relaxing, lovely fire in the evenings, ideal location to walk along the bay or into Dunsborough and perfect location to explore the beautiful area of the southwest. Will definitely go again.

My partner and I spent two nights at Lanterns and we were very happy with our stay. We were upgraded by the lovely Serge to a beautiful King Room and the bed was sooo comfortable. The room was beautifully furnished with lots of little thoughtful touches to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We enjoyed a few glasses of wine by the cosy fireplace in the lounge room and had a very easy time making our way to the restaurants and beaches nearby.

We needed to make a trip to Dunsborough so decided an overnight stay was better than back and forth in a day from Perth. I was very pleased to actually find a place which offered one nights accommodation as most places require two nights minimum. And I thought it was a great price for its top location. We were warmly greeted by Serge on our arrival with his relaxing music playing in the background. I ended up buying his CD and we listen to it regularly whilst having our morning coffee.
We were upgraded to a larger room with a spa (which we didn't use) overlooking the garden. We were very happy with our spacious room, the bed was very comfortable, and there was also a small mini-bar .. how many places have that these days?
We were able to walk to a few of our favourite spots the next day as you're only 5 minutes from the beach, you can't beat the location.
Okay, it's not a palace, a few cob webs around the place but its a homely spot, friendly, nice gardens, check-in is easy, price is good ... what more do we want? We will definitely stay here again.
