Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We did an overnight stay on a big drive from north WA down to Perth. Service on check in was very friendly. The room was very clean, the beds and pillows were super soft and comfortable. Pool was a clean and refreshing after a big day driving. The location in town was great too. IGA Is right across the road. We will definitely stay again when passing through Dongara next time.

Stayed 2 nights in a King room. Facilities dated but Extremely clean with good quality shampoos and body wash. We are breakfast and dinner at the hotel each day. Food very good with large menu choice. Highly recommend. Would return if we are passing that way.

Good food in. Friendly pub apart from the cashier who was obviously having a bad day. We stayed in what were optimistically called Suites. We had stayed here a few years ago and nothing appears to have been changed in the rooms which are basic to say the least, other than the increase in price!! We and several of our friends in adjoining rooms suffered a mainly sleepless night. This appeared to be due to some kind of motor or pump running from approx 2am until after 5 am

We have stayed here previously in a better room. This time we were allocated Room 5. It has the noisiest exhaust fan I have ever experienced and it is on a timer that is controlled by the Hotel. The switch in the bathroom has been disabled.

Great food! After a recent disappointment with a mid west coast pub dinner it was with a little trepidation we ventured south to Dongara for a feed. This place was recommended to us so we trusted the source and tried it out. Magnificent! Although busy with a line up to order, we soon watched the dishes come out to the tables near us. Every single dish was well presented and looked great. Judging by the way the plates were rapidly emptied they must have tasted as good as they looked. Soon our orders came out, roast pork belly with mash, steamed veg and gravy. It was truly superb. Perfectly cooked pork belly with a crunchy, salty crackling just as it should be. The creamy mash and tender broccoli, cauliflower, beans and carrots made for a very filling meal. The gravy supplied in its own jug was also very tasty. No room for desert. The kids had pasta bolognaise and pizza and chips. Both generous servings that neither could finish. I tried the spag bol, it was delicious and I would have gladly had that myself for mains. All in all a wonderful meal, cooked and presented beautifully. Well done Dongara Hotel!!

Good spot, reasonably sized rooms and decent (as opposed to great) order. However there is no sound undulation at all so we were bombarded with one half of the phone calls from the man next door and the extractor in the bathroom (with no obvious switch) comes on at random and runs for a long time - most disconcerting. Not the best stop we’ve had, hardly a disaster but not what we expected.

We found this a very comfortable Motel (all units at ground level) conveniently located in the town centre. The adjacent Hotel serves outstanding meals; one of us enjoyed grilled snapper and scallops while the other loved the rack of lamb. The service in the Hotel was excellent, with used plates cleared quickly. We'd certainly recommend both the motel and the restaurant.

Stayed overnight in Room 8. Decor is a bit dated but the room was very clean and the bed was probably the most comfortable I have slept in whilst travelling. Quiet location and parking at your door. Staff were very helpful when we had a last minute change of plans. Excellent meals at the hotel (walk across the carpark) - you certainly won't go hungry and they are very reasonably priced. Make sure you book a table as they get very busy. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel/motel if you want a clean and comfortable place to stay. Would definitely stay again.

My husband & I have been travelling down the coast of WA looking to eat some of the wonderful seafood we see people catching on the Coral Coast. We found the perfect spot at the Dongara Hotel Motel restaurant. Beautiful grilled snapper & scallops for hubby & snapper & prawns for me. Very reasonably priced, prompt service & lovely staff.
