I stayed with my son at the Grange on Shadforth. It was very good. The host was very warming and friendly. They had lovely food for breakfast with freshly made jams. You can also have the option of hot breakfast. It was also very nice when you came back in the evening and you would receive chocolates and a small drink for a treat.

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay, rooms very clean and comfortable, great location, nice view of hills and cows.
Jenny and Phil very friendly and hospitable, beautiful cooked breakfast and the port and chocolates at night a nice touch.
Tea and coffee was available all day with home made muffins.
Thanks Jenny and Phil!
James and Sheryl.

This was our second stay at the Grange and Phil and Jenny were the gracious hosts as usual. We enjoyed our stay second time round. Room was immaculate, spacious and most comfortable. The breakfast was delightful with Phil preparing the eggs to our preference and perfectly done! The view of the meadows and cows were most relaxing. Phil even called his cows to come in the morning when we didn't see them! The Grange will be THE B and B we will stay in whenever we pop by Denmark. Thanks, Phil and Jenny for a delightful stay!

We stayed 3 nights with our 2 children. The price per night was the highest of our stay in WA as we had to book 2 rooms. I will not consider this place as luxury but comfy. Breakfast was the same for 3 days. We would have appreciated some variety and frest fruits. There is no cooking facility so again not ideal for a family. The hosts are nice and welcoming. However they dont have any tips on off beaten track recommendations. I relied on the 9.8 ranking when i booked and i didnt think it was an exceptional place. We had 4 accommodations during our 11 nights in WA. This was the most expensive by far and the one we enjoyed least (we did glamping in margaret river. We had a flat in fremantle and another b&b in a farmstay).

In response to your review of The Grange , we find it rather perplexing at the criticizing of our facilities as on the website you booked on and our own website clearly states that we are a bed and breakfast establishment and not self contained, having said that your were quite happy for us to heat food up for you and lay the table with crockery and cutlery which we also provide for you and at no time during your stay did you intimate to us that things were less than satisfactory and acceptable to you. Regarding breakfast same for 3 days in a row we offer a standard breakfast not a gourmet one. Regarding the price you paid, it was high season and we do not offer family rooms, however if you had taken the trouble to go direct to our website and book direct you would have saved a lot of money We did point out all places of interest in Denmark and surrounds, to find info on off the beaten track places, the Visitor Center may have been able to help you. As to our rating we have been operating for many years and have had only 1 other adverse comment, and it would seem that a Bed and Breakfast is not the place for you and your family.

Previous reviewers have rated the Grange highly. This demonstrates one of the weaknesses of Trip Adviser since we all have different needs and wants when it comes to accommodation. We were very disappointed to the extent that after moving in we immediately tried to find alternative accommodation - but nothing suitable was available.

Our disappointment centered on the sterile atmosphere provided for guest entertainment. The the guest lounge is spacious but has bulky pieces of leather furniture. The overall theme of decoration might be described as 'old English'. There is no TV or radio in the lounge and although there is s fireplace the hosts did not light it (it was winter), however there was a gas fire in the adjoining room. The TV in the bedrooms is 'postage stamp' size and, as an elderly couple, we could not see it clearly when in bed. There is no radio or clock the bedroom. We found the queen size bed a bit hard on our arthritic joints.

No complaints about the magnificent views or the attentiveness of our hosts. Jenny was very helpful and provided a radio for us in the guest lounge room after we explained that we missed the ABC music program.

A fully cooked breakfast costs extra which is a bit rich after a rate of $175 per night - after all it does advertise itself as a 'bed and breakfast'.

All in all - more attention to guest facilities and inclusion of a fully cooked breakfast in the room rate would work wonders.

The above review of our accommodation left us stunned and quite puzzled, as at no stage of their stay with us did they convey that they were in any way less than satisfied with their surroundings. We will try to address their grievances. Firstly we are extremely sorry that their stay with us was not up to their expectations, if only they had at the outset told us of their concerns re the accommodation we would have gladly given them a refund and tried to help them secure more suitable accommodation for their wants and needs. Addressing the comment of sterile guest entertainment in the lounge. Our lounge is purposely designed to be an area of complete relaxation in tranquil surroundings with stunning rural views and gentle music playing in the background, should guests wish to watch T.V./videos then these choices are available to them in the privacy of their own rooms without disturbing other guests as not all guests tastes are the same. Also there are numerous books and magazines to browse through. With the fire being an open fire, for obvious safety reasons cannot be lit at all times, If only they had mentioned that they would have liked the fire to be lit, we would have been only to happy to accommodate their request. Re the furniture in the lounge, this is in fact a beautiful leather lounge suite plus chesterfield designed with guests comfort in mind and lends itself well to the lounges spacious proportions. Re our decore, we like to think of our colour scheme as very warm and welcoming, a fact that has been highly commented on by many of our guests over the last 16 years and very well suits our colonial style accommodation The "postage stamp"size T.V. in the bedroom is an adequate 48cm, well place on the wall for good viewing and can be adjusted to different angles. Re no alarm clock, we do find nowadays that most guests use this facility on their mobile phones. However we would have been happy to loan them a clock or supply a wake up call. Re the hard bed, all our beds are OrthopaedicDelux beds and all comments over the years have been very positive with many guests actually enquiring as to the make with view to possible purchase. Lastly re no cooked breakfast, we do serve an extensive continental breakfast with choice of eggs, which we call a light cooked breakfast and looking at the breakfast menu on our website gives potential customers a chance to see exactly what is offered in the price, also the website gives a comprehensive rundown in words and pictures of what each room contains re facilities and type of furniture our accommodation offers. While we do our very best to please our guests all of the time, it is not always possible to please everyone and for that we do offer our most sincere apologize.

This is a great little B&B - run by ex-Brits - out in the countryside about 4kms from the little town of Denmark in SW Western Australia. We had a spacious twin room, with TV and lovely en-suite shower room. It was very warm and cosy, and a great place to return to at the end of a busy day. Jenny, the owner, couldn't have been more friendly or done more to help - with advice about wildflowers, places to visit, the best route to Perth etc. She prepares a wonderful continental breakfast too, and offers home-made muffins and biscuits.

Every night we were thoroughly spoilt with a free glass of port and a couple of chocolates.

We also didn't have to go into Denmark to eat, as there was a restaurant in the spa complex on the opposite side of the (quiet) road, with good-value meals. The B&B has ample off-street parking.

The Grange's pamphlet says it does not cater for children.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Grange. So close to Denmark town yet still felt like a country retreat. Myself and my two kids aged under 11 were very well treated and enjoyed our brekky with other guests. My nightly glass of port was a great touch and great fully received.

We came here for a few days showing our New Zealand friends the Southwest of Western Australia and we just selected Grange of the Internet and it did not disappoint. Very welcoming and friendly in a quiet location but only 5 minutes to the town centre. The rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable and breakfast was superb nothing more is required.

Superb thanks guys

We were welcomed by both Jenny and Phillip on our arrival at the Grange. They came across with a warm and friendly presence so you felt relaxed and comfortable in their surroundings.
The Grange is very clean to a high standard, with spacious lounges and our en-suite bedroom, which was nicely decorated.
There was no way you can fault the breakfast as cereal, toast, home made preserves and a cooked breakfast was plentiful with coffee and various teas available to choose from.
A nice touch was the glass of port and chocolates which was waiting for you in your bedroom when you arrived back from your nightly travels.
The Grange has four bedrooms for guests, which means the place never feels crowded and gives you the homely feeling.
Coffee and the assorted teas are at your disposal in the lounge along with home made cookies.
The Grange is no more than a 10 minute drive into Denmark itself, and has nice views of the countryside from the back veranda which there is plenty of seating if you so wish.
I personally and strongly recommend this place for your stay as there is nothing to fault.

We were lucky enough to grab some last minute accommodation after a cancellation. So glad we did! The location is nestled between two lovely wineries/restaurants - Castelli's and South End - both walking distance with great food. The house is custom built by owners Jenny & Phillip (who live in a separate part of the house). They've been running it for years and it shows. The room was spacious and super clean with an very roomy ensuite. There is a communal dining area where they serve breakfast every morning as well as a lounge room with a big fire place - it would be lovely in the Winter.
There is also a lovely verandah at the back of the property that overlooks the hills where you can sit and read a book while watching the cows graze (they have around 10 that all happen to be pregnant and all due in a couple of weeks!). The little touches were noticeable - chocolates and Port delivered to our room each night! It was such a relaxing stay. We would definitely stay again. Highly recommend.
