We stayed for one night at the Windrose and it was all that we had hoped for.
Our room was part of a Rammed Earth building which had all the modern trimmings.
Set between two rooms was a huge piece of Granite ? coming up through the floor and also a glassed floor display which was lit up at night.
Breakfast was freshly made and included freshly made bread.
Listening to all the frogs croaking at night was another feature of the stay.

We've stayed in quite a few different accommodations in Denmark over the 13yrs of our marriage, and love to return whenever possible (especially for anniversaries). Mostly we love b'n'bs, but find the "b" on the end variable to non-existent (how do Air B'n'B get to advertise as such when no breakfast is supplied?) We actually cancelled the original choice because at the last minute it just didn't feel right, and selecting Windrose was absolutely the right decision! So much so that we probably won't even bother to look at anywhere else next time we visit.
Eco-friendly is right up our alley, and the quirky, rammed earth building set in quiet bushland and frequented by birds and frogs is a wonderfully tranquil place to spend a few nights, or more. The Moaning Frogs were just appearing and the chorus grew each night, but not to any disturbing volume. The new mattress in the Forest Room was extremely comfy and we slept early and well for 3 nights. The disability rails in the bathroom of that room were helpful for my husband and having a small line for hanging wet towels and swimmers outside was very useful after our swim at fabulous (and freezing!) Elephant Rocks.
Anna is a delightful, friendly, accommodating host of 21 years experience. Her breakfasts each morning cooked to order were delicious, along with freshly-baked bread and a good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and toast breads. The German sausage and mustard were much in demand. We found meals shared around the common table with other guests to be most enjoyable and added to the experience.

We stayed here (2 couples in adjacent rooms) while doing part of the Bibbulmun Track with accom and transfers organised by Auswalk.
The rooms were charming, different themes and check out the artwork by the talented son of lovely landlords Anna and Matt. Spotlessly clean rooms, private and with en-suite. Pond outside with birdsong during the day from the New Holland Honeyeaters and Silvereyes in the grevilleas, and multiple species of frogs to sing you to sleep at night.
Comfortable communal sitting/breakfast room with fire, sofas and books. Great brekko - high quality continental with hot option. Home made bread!

My husband and I had a lovely 2 night stay at Windrose. We’re in our 70 s. We stayed in the ‘Ocean Room’ which was decorated with a beach theme. It was a convenient location for exploring the beautiful beaches and sights of Denmark. The included breakfast was either continental or cooked, according to your preference. Torbin and Yara looked after us, suggesting places to dine. The TV and fridge were in the common room. If you want a delightful break that’s a bit different to sterile hotel rooms, you will enjoy your time here.

Spent 2 nights here enjoying warm hospitality extended by Anna & Matt. Our room with ensuite was clean, private & comfortable and there’s a shared common room where a delicious breakfast was served. The aroma of Anna’s homemade bread greets you in the morning. Great to be able to re-charge our car’s battery as well with EV charging point.

What an unexpected experience this B n B was. We had only a night there but it was great. We enjoyed the eco sustainability of the place. Anna was a welcoming, knowledgeable hostess , her conversation about the area was very enlightening.
Our room was a delight. We enjoyed the frog theme as we have frog ponds in our abode. The frog chart in the bathroom gave us a great overview of what wildlife their pod experiences.
The breakfast was the best we have had in any of our travelling accommodations of this nature. Well Done Anna.

Anna was a friendly helpful host who cooked superb breakfasts. All rooms overlooked the dam where the resident frogs lulled us to sleep. Windrose was a peaceful oasis to return to after exploring the surrounding beaches, walks & wineries. We stayed 2nights but could have stayed more.

Such a beautiful, clean and homely place to stay with a warm welcome from host Anna. The fresh bread at breakfast and local wildlife on the small dam were just two of the many highlights.
Whether as a stopover on a longer journey or base for the nearby attractions, Windrose is a home away from home.

We stayed in Windrose B&B late April '13. This is an honest bed and breakfast run by an enthusiastic and a very welcoming host , Anna. Very interested in hearing what we had to say, shared her experience in the region, understood what we expected and recommended excellent routes.
I agree Andrew G (from Brisbane)'s positive comments and I don't mind the negative's he mentioned. Yes the beds can do with a bit of a support. As for the insulation, well the forest room we stayed in, has storage and shower rooms adjoining with the neighbors' so there was a buffer. The people we have stayed with at the same time were all too considerate anyway. We did not hear anything or we were too happy to fall asleep with the incredibly beautiful chorus of frogs. If you find any noise uncomfortable while you comfy earplugs have been though for. What an excellent touch! One of many little beautiful personal touches around the place. It has a communal feel rather than a commercial entity and that's what we loved about this place.
You have to take this place for what it is, which is a brilliant little family B&B. It is so unfair to suggest, like John U from Perth, that no effort has gone into this property. The owner have indeed put a lot of effort and thought into the "concept" of B&B, and the design of rooms. Every room has a different theme, and the overall B&B is focused on wildlife and fauna (mainly frogs) around it. Yes the fridge in the common room is too small for use by one family let alone several people but could it be down to the fact that this place is trying to be carbon / energy natural? Do not look into this B&B through the eyes of a spoilt city slicker rather an environmental enthusiast and you will see that it is a hidden treasure. We felt like we were family friends staying over night and for that privilege it is an absolute bargain!
...Did I mention the delicious breakfast and home made bread?(by the way eggs are fresh from their chickens! What a delight!)
PS: Anna, we are definitely coming back for a longer stay with our little baby girl once she arrives in July :)

Hello, thanks for your booking with us at Windrose B&B. If your child sleeps in a normal bed, the Forest family room is the most suitable. If he sleeps in a cot, we could put that up in any room and you can choose whichever room you like.
We look forward to meeting you.
Kind regards
Anna
