We stayed for one night at the Windrose and it was all that we had hoped for. Our room was part of a Rammed Earth building which had all the modern trimmings. Set between two rooms was a huge piece of Granite ? coming up through the floor and also a glassed floor display which was lit up at night. Breakfast was freshly made and included freshly made bread. Listening to all the frogs croaking at night was another feature of the stay.

We don't often stay in B & Bs so haven't got much experience to compare with. But we thought Windrose was interesting and enjoyable. The "frog" theme is appropriate, as the accommodation faces onto a lagoon full of croaking frogs, which we liked. Some fellow guests were out after dark with torches spotting the frogs. The room was large enough and had a comfortable bed. We did not hear any noise from adjoining rooms. The decor was strange and quirky - we had a wall decoration of a large windmill blade - but cheerful and different. There is no fridge in the room, but a small communal fridge in the common room, and also a TV. There was a big bookcase of books about local attractions, wildflowers, animals etc. The breakfasts were exceptional. Anna makes her own bread and has chooks for fresh eggs. Good quality coffee, too. When you include the cost of a big breakfast like this, the price of the accommodation seemed very reasonable. Anna was also very helpful with maps and suggestions for local attractions. We felt welcomed and enjoyed our stay very much.

From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave Anna is on hand to provide you with everything you'll need and always with a big smile. We only stayed one night but felt so welcomed. It's more like staying with a friend. The breakfast was fantastic, homemade bread, apple juice, sausage, eggs from their own chickens, it really doesn't get much better. Anna is also a font of knowledge for the area, more than happy to sit down with each guest highlighting all the attractions nearby. Very happy we found Windrose and highly recommend it.

Difficult to put into words really, we’ve never stayed anywhere like this before......! We booked the Ocean Room which was quite nice but the little hints of frogs warned us what was to come! Freddos on our pillows, little china frogs, poster in the bathroom with descriptions of different types of frogs and their noises, plus 2 packets of ear plugs!! We almost got back in the car to move on but we had such a warm welcome from the owners and their lovely dog that we decided to stay, plus it was getting late to find somewhere else. We had use of a lounge with a wood burner, tv and kitchen facilities with complimentary drinks. We had to run back to our room through the midges and cacophony of loud croaking sounds coming from outside! The best part was the next morning, Anna the owner is a lovely lady and she cooks a marvellous breakfast with lovely eggs from her own chooks!

Response from Windrose_Denmark, Manager at Windrose B&B
Responded 20 Jan 2019
Thank you for taking the time to review Windrose B&B. I am glad you were satisfied with the breakfast and the personal service. The frogs are part of Windrose and there is a different lullaby at different times of the year. If you ever come in February it will be very silent. Best regards, Anna
