This camp/caravan retreat is rustic and appealing in its simplicity. The sites are situated alongside a long stretch of a dry riverbed (the river runs underground) under large gum trees. Five reservoirs of hot spring water is pumped from the underground river for guests to languish in whilst relacing or chatting to other guests. There are drives (with routes supplied by the office) for guests wishing to explore the rural station. A short walk to the old farm rubbish tip is worthwhile where old machinery and household paraphernalia from bygone areas can be seen. The ablutions add to the rustic charm and character of the place emphasising the outback of Australia. There are cabins and glamping tents available and tour buses do base themselves here for overnight stop overs. Twice weekly there is a dinner served under the stars – a unique experience for the cost of $25pp. Dinner consisted of pulled pork, macaroni cheese, coleslaw, a corn cob and condiments. Guests take their own drinks, crockery and cutlery and socialise with other guests whilst the farm staff cook the macaroni and corn at the dining site. The other food is brought from the homestead which is no mean feat when catering for over a hundred guests. The rustic eating site is transformed into a magical rural experience under the inky black skies studded with the brightest of stars. Suggest some trenches or humps to stop vehicles speeding through the area to reduce the dust.…
What a gem of a place! A number of our friends told us to stay here and it did not disappoint. We had booked a night in their accommodation : room and en suite we clean with hot showers , shared kitchen amenities had all your essential items and again extremely clean. The highlight was the artisan baths , with the perfect temperature to soothe our tired bones after a long day on the road. Loved our stay!
I booked to stay here for something a bit different to your typical hotels in towns and loved it! The lady at check in was friendly and helpful. I had booked a single room to save myself the effort of setting up for 1 night and the room was clean, comfortable and had a small bar fridge. The kitchen facilities were spotless and everything provided. I also did the river walk which I really enjoyed (bit overgrown in places on the other side of the river) and the artesian baths were so relaxing. Recommend jumping in the baths on sunset and you might get one to yourself. Only suggestion would be to get a proper stove igniter in the kitchen I used as there was only a cigarette lighter, which makes you get a bit too close for comfort. Would definitely stay again.
Love this place so unique. There is no water in the river apparentley its a unside down river. I did hear that it does flow at certain times of the year. The sites are great big and on the river banks usually tree. All have fire pits. Abultions blocks are unique also water tanks which have been converted, but so different and clean and all worked fine. Friendly staff. The hot springs are a bonus, great find. Will be back.
We stayed on a Wednesday night on our way North in the Family Quarters. Was a great place to stretch out after a long day travelling. Room was really clean, tidy and comfortable. Even though it was busy, still was relaxing an quiet. Defiantly a place to stop!
