I stayed 3 nights in the Green Room of the original Ford House (single room). While the room is small, it is comfortable and warm in winter. The room opens on a verandah/deck overlooking the garden. Guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and loungeroom, all with fireplaces. It rained most of the weekend when I stayed and it was lovely to be able to relax and warm up next to the fire in the lounge, in big leather armchairs!!! There's also a full library with many books to read. Breakfast is served in the morning in the common room (home made bread and jams, bacon and eggs, muesli) and is very nice and copious. The breakfast room is an old barn filled with knick knacks and Xmas decorations; a good starting point for conversations with fellow guests. The whole place is full of little knick knacks so there is plenty to look at! Despite the rain I had an excellent stay and recommend this place to fellow travellers. I'll visit again in summer.

We planned to explore their gift shop(s) when passing through Bridgetown and were pleasantly surprised by the vast range of gifts available at reception. The Christmas gift items was magnificent and the pottery fantastic. By all accounts the accommodation is top class from discussion with some of the residents. Unfortunately there is no food available (already doing enough and too much trouble with wages, staff and obtaining produce ) and the receptionist kindly suggested The Cidery ( top advice).

Ford house has several styles of accomodation, from modern to historical. The older rooms are full of quaint pictures and objects from a bygone period. The shop has a variety of querky items for sale, from cups to garden ornaments. The whole facility is a quiet place next to the river and only a short walk to the main street shops and food outlets.

We stayed here recently for 2 nights at. $220 per night for spa room. Lovely location but that is about it. The breakfast which was included was served in a “shed” which was a really cold room. I don’t eat bacon or eggs so asked for beans which were served virtually cold. Bread which you cut yourself after everyone else has handled the loaf of bread, certainly not hygienic. The breakfast was such a poor experience that we didn’t even bother the next day and is was included in the price. The spa is just too small to be an enjoyable experience and the whole bathroom could do with a revamp.
There were several of us visiting and we all said we wouldn’t go again.
They really should reduce the price and not provide breakfast to encourage people to support the cafes in town.
They say the are “luxurious “ maybe 20 years ago
this was the case. Certainly not worth the price charged.

Stayed for two nights over a weekend in February in the lower oddington room. Although the room was clean, it felt quite dusty like the curtains and fabric furniture needed a good clean. The air conditioning worked but wasn't very quiet in the night. The large double bed isn't the largest of beds but was quite comfortable and warm. We had a bath which took more than 30 minutes to fill as there was no hot water pressure. The shower was very small so you'll have difficulties if you're over 5,11" or of a larger build. Continental breakfast options were nice with fresh bread and preserved fruit with cereals. Bacon and eggs are offered, I requested scrambled which they couldn't do so asked the eggs to be cooked through but they came out runny so I couldn't eat them.

The place has a nice selection of ceramic work, and lots of different types of gifts or homeware, including a good range of Christmas decorations.

No information was provided by the hosts about the area (such as walks nearby or suggestions to eat), and although I forgot to ask I also wasn't provided with the WiFi password. There was no information in the room either.

When we did take the bath I had to remove a few spiders before running it, although I didn't find that a big deal.

Overall we had a nice weekend but I wouldn't stay here again.

I stayed at Ford House about 10 years ago in the double room and back then the shared bathroom was shabby. Stayed on the weekend and it’s more shabby and run down now. I stayed in the single room and the bed base was broken and a leg was missing, I was rolling out of the bed and the whole thing felt unsafe so I pulled the mattress on the floor and slept there. It was warm so I put the fan on and all I could smell was dust as the dust was flying everywhere. The French door could also not close so I felt unsafe sleeping there as well.
After having a really bad nights sleep on the floor and spending $130 ish to sleep on the floor, I then went to breakfast in the morning. I was the only one the cook had to cook for as the others were eating and I asked for scrambled eggs…that was way too hard for her. I then asked the poached eggs to be not runny…and they came out runny.
After reporting the broken bed in the morning to the staff, there was no offer of some kind of discount.
This place is a disaster, it’s dusty, broken doors, food was sad, unhelpful staff so steer clear are better places in Bridgetown.

We stayed for one night in the Honeymoon Suite as we booked quite late and it was available. The room was one of two in a standalone cottage (Aislinn House) in the grounds with shared access to a large kitchen and lounge. Very spacious and comfortable room although the soft furnishings (sofa, cushions, bedspread) smelt a bit musty and could probably do with an airing. The garden is extensive and absolutely beautiful and well worth exploring. The property runs down to the Blackwood River and, as well as the historic Ford House to marvel at, there are some beautiful landscaped areas and the WAG Walters Emporium to browse. The shop and its quirky wares must make this one of the most unique B+Bs anywhere. Breakfast in the morning is served in the barn, which is part of the emporium so there is no end of things to pique your interest. Staff were very helpful and lovely. The B+B is also within walking distance to the main street of Bridgetown which makes it handy for accessing places to dine in the evening.

Stayed overnight at the Ford House in Bridgetown WA, in one of the rooms in the original house. Was themed to late 1800s early 1900s, with wonderful antiques, collections of glassware and crockery. Has amazing little nik naks in the WAG Walters Emporium, it will take a couple of hours just to look through it all. Breakfast was basic but plentiful, eggs and bacon cooked in front of you, with continental also. They have home made jam and bottled fruit to enjoy as well. Not just an overnight stay, but an experience as well.

Another couple and ourselves spent 2 nights at Ford House – they were in the Jim Thorpe Suite and we were in the Delaporte Suite. We were greeted by a lovely lady who assisted us to our room. We did arrive a little late and she was very pleasant about it. The WAG Walters Emporium is very interesting as is the room that you have your breakfast in – so is an enjoyable experience. However, we found it all a little tired and in need of some ground maintenance. Unfortunately, there were huge pot holes that needed attention outside our room which didn’t make it very pleasant.

Big thank you to Jenny and the Ford house team. You made organising our wedding there easy and fun. Our garden ceremony was perfect in the immaculate grounds, with the Blackwood river flowing past. Ford house and Cooks Retreat were beautiful buildings with so much character and provided a lovely experience to get ready in for our wedding and to stay the night in. The Barn dining room beautiful as always and the setting for a yummy breakfast the day day, perfect cooked bacon and eggs with homemade preserved fruits, bread and yoghurt. An experience of a lifetime we will treasure always.
