My wife and I have just spent two nights in a Gold Garden cabin at the Big 4 Castlemaine Gardens Holiday Park. The first thing that struck us was how clean our cabin was. It was a compact cabin designed for two people and contained a double bed, separate kitchenette and toilet/shower. We mainly used it for sleeping as there was so much to do in and around Castlemaine. The only thing I felt that could improve the cabin are; having more than 3 coat hangers, another power point in the kitchen above the stove and reliable free Wi-Fi which was constantly intermittent (and frustrating). The bonuses of the holiday park are; it's located abutting the Castlemaine Botanic Gardens, the council pool is located next door and a very short walk to the Bridge Hotel and The Mill (containing a bakery, café, brewery and artist gallery to name a few. The price...... well, this Big 4 we felt was a little dearer compared to similar size/quality holiday parks. The Gold Garden cabin cost us $172 per night. Overall, we were happy with the park and facilities.

Saw this online coming into town and for an advertised $35 per night l thought it was a bit steep for a country town and being late afternoon l thought what the heck ,being concession holders l gave my wife $50 for 1 night she came back with $2 change ,well l have told all my caravan friends to do a wide berth of this below standard place ,they will have to take a long look at their pricing to get anyone going back again,ZERO stars

Hi Jack, I am sorry that there was some misconception about our rates. We have an online offer available for stays during the month of August and often have other deals available. If the deal had been available on the dates you stayed we would most definitely have matched it. Kind regards

We stayed one night check in was easy. Site was clean, easy to back into. Toilets and showers are clean and ok. They have a dump point in the park. You can here the train and road but it's not bad. They are very accommodating as we needed to move sites and they were fine with that. All in all a easy stop for the night.

Stayed in one of the large safari tents - great facilities, freezing outside but was warm inside. Couldn’t believe this was a tent. Bath on deck overlooking botanical gardens and beautiful outlook. Felt like a king in there with my 4 poster bed.

A stay in the Safari Tent at the Big4 Castlemaine Gardens Holiday Park turned a 5-day lockdown into a fun getaway. Upon arriving at the park, the Travelmints team was told that the lockdown was set to happen. Thankfully, we asked if we could stay in the Safari Tent, moving from our originally booked accomodation, and we couldn't have been happier with the decision! The tent is massive, with a living room, kitchen and 2 beds. There's also a fridge, microwave, cutlery and glassware, as well as a big decking area to eat. Stay in, and enjoy the natural surroundings! We loved cooking on the barbeque, but we wish there were more options to cook. We'd love to see the park install some sort of outdoor woodfire oven, to make cooking even more of a breeze. One downside was the wi-fi, as we were working while staying in the tent. We had to hotspot off our phone, so a better internet connection would make life better for guests. If you're heading along to Castlemaine Gardens, definitely book a stay in the Safari Tent. We'd also recommend bringing food and drinks along, as it's a little bit of a stroll into town. Speaking of which, if you're heading into town, stop in at the theatre for drinks, as well as at Saint Florian Cafe. If you've ever wanted to try glamping, then this is the place for you!
