We recently booked a group holiday for 13 adults, two dogs and one child at the Homestead and Creek Cottage. It was the best holiday we've had for a long time! The Homestead - Every piece of furniture in there was an antique and oh so beautiful and well preserved. We felt like we were living back in the 1800's which was quite a novelty for us. - The Homestead has very spacious common areas like the lounge, 2 large dining areas and a very well equipped kitchen (lots of crockery, cutlery, wine glasses, mugs, etc.) that is great for a large group. Because every area is so spacious, we never felt like that was no room to move around. We could have 6-7 people in the kitchen and would not bump into each other. Yes, it is that big! FYI there's also a pod coffee machine in the kitchen if you need a coffee fix. - The Homestead has 6 rooms and could fit 15 adults comfortably (we had 11 staying there). All the beds were super comfy, linen was clean, and every room had a fireplace (although we were not sure if they were decorative or still in working order). - There are 3 good sized bath rooms / toilets so no one had to queue (LOL) - There are 2 fridges which came in handy, one in the kitchen and the other near the spa which we used for drinks. - Oh and the spa... it was great to take a dip after a day out & about. TIP: If you wish to use it, turn it on first thing you arrive so that it gets up to temperature (needs a good 5-6 hours or more as it's a large spa!) - If you love gardening, you will love the Homestead's lush English garden. So many happy butterflies & bees and look out for the occasional skinks too (so cute!). - There's a decent sized BBQ which is great to whip up a quick meal. Creek Cottage - Creek Cottage is 10 steps across from the Homestead's lawn and id the perfect sized accommodation for us (a couple) and our dog. - Bed was huge and super comfy, clean linen, comfortable pillows... could not fault. - The dining area overlooks the creek so it was lovely to have a meal while enjoying nature at the same time (wild ducks, cockatoos, blue wrens, etc.) - Big bathroom with everything you'd expect in a hotel. - Well equipped kitchen with all the amenities and a pod coffee machine. We had both ovens cranking one night and got food out very quickly. - There is also a baby Webber at the Cottage which was handy. Overall comment - Accommodation was top notch and exactly what we were looking for in a country getaway. Loved the old world charm and the fact that it is pet-friendly was a bonus! - Our host Sarah was absolutely lovely to deal with and nothing was too difficult that she couldn't assist with. She was very accommodating and prompt with queries. Kept us up-to-date right up to the day of our arrival. First class service all the way! - Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would 100% recommend this place to family and friends.…
We had a lovely stay at the Homestead with our 3 year-old son and new baby. The historic homestead is beautifully appointed with high ceilings, lots of natural light and a very functional kitchen. The homestead is surrounded by roses. It's a working farm with a lot of history, sheep, cattle - and my husband spotted a platypus in the creek. A great getaway from the city where you can admire majestic gums and a full sky of stars at night. Highly recommended for large groups or more intimate trips away. Charles and Sarah are wonderful hosts who can tell you a lot about the farm and its history.
12 of us have just had a very enjoyable 3 day weekend at this beautiful old Homestead, which is ideal for self catering. Set in a beautiful heritage garden we were entertained by abundant bird-life. Walking alongside the beautiful creek some of us were lucky enough to spot a platypus.
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderfully relaxing time. The space was perfectly functional and the surroundings were peaceful. We were able to cook onsite and it's only a 10 minute drive to Maryborough.
Our group of 8 love the homestead & Lochinver hospitality so much that we have made an annual pilgrimage for several years. It is so well appointed, tastefully decorated with loads of character & every creature comfort you could want! Even the linen is quality grade, & Alison & the family are very accommodating with any reasonable requests!
