Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have stayed at Girragirra many times and it just keeps getting better. It’s sparkling clean, comfortable, welcoming and generous- from the beautiful edible garden to the well-stocked kitchen and the freshly baked breakfast sourdough. Kim and Wendy are perfect hosts. And the plunge pool was just the thing for days of 36 degrees! I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We stayed 5 nights at Girragirra Retreat to explore the local area. The retreat was very peaceful, the birdlife was amazing, bedroom and living area so comfortable, it was a pleasure to return to after a day out. The hosts Wendy and Kim gave helpful suggestions on what to see, providing wonderful treats from their vegetable garden and delicious bread every morning. We will be going back!

The Girragirra Retreat was a perfect place to stay for the three nights in Forbes NSW. The architecture ensures privacy and quiet and the decor is calm so as to appreciate the outside view. The host was delightful and arrived each morning with a loaf of sourdough bread and freshly sqeezed orange juice. The view from the outdoor sitting area is a native grassland and billabong, just beautiful in an unkempt way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
Another attraction is the Sculpture Down the Lachan which a drive towards Condobolin with worldclass sculptures in the natural setting.

Well, this is our second visit in 4 months! Decided to stay 3 nights this time, for we simply love it here. The hosts, Wendy and Kim, are simply superlative people. The place is very well appointed in every respect. The pantry has local olive oil, salt and pepper grinders, Girragirra cultured butter (the best I’ve ever had), homemade yoghurt, milk, eggs, cereals of various types and home made jams etc. Every morning at 7:30, freshly squeezed orange juice and wonderful home baked sourdough bread is placed in a basket and left on your porch. One can pick their greens, fruit and veg from their garden - all seasonal and lovely. We love this place and will return again...we totally get our “urban detox” here. Wifi is included. We stock-up on meat and drink so that we don’t have to leave...but if you can’t be bothered, Forbes is a 5 minute drive away and has all the shops you need. Geez, almost forgot to mention that they have a lovely Kelpie - Peter...he loves company and affection. 👍🏻 He gets along very well with their ducks and chooks.

We saw the Girragirra Retreat ad online and booked it so easily. Upon arrival we were very impressed with the accommodation which is so tastefully done with lots of artistic touches and solid timber fittings. The amazing view through the gigantic picture windows of a billabong revealed bird life and kangaroos coming down for a drink. Our hosts Wendy and Kim were superb and spoilt us with fresh bread and orange juice every morning and a basket of fresh eggs in the firidge, just to mention a little!

Girragirra felt like home the moment we arrived. The warm welcome from the hosts (and Pete the Kelpie) set us up for a relaxing stay. The home overlooked a billabong and bushland views, including from the bathtub! Kim and Wendy provided many thoughtful touches, like fresh herbs from the garden, delicious daily sourdough, and a fireplace ready to light (though the home was so warm, we didn't need it!). Pete's guided tour to Gum Swamp, where we saw our first sculptures and an amazing sunset, made us wish we could stay longer. Girragirra is a touch of luxury in a tranquil location, handy to the Sculptures Down the Lachlan trail and a short drive to town. We highly recommend!

This stay represented a pause in my 5 week public transport tour of Western NSW, so it represented a welcome respite (and machine wash of my sad and dusty clothes).
A friend arrived with dinner and after an early night, we prepared breakfast from the ingredients left at the door and from the garden, and headed off to find out about her rellie - a bushranger in 'Australia's largest gold robbery'. A leisurely afternoon followed - you really don't want to move - and after a second nourishing breakfast, it was time to hit the road and train station again, rejuvenated and with a smile on my face.

From the moment we pulled into the drive with its lovely welcome sign, to the all-to-soon farewell at the end of our stay, we loved every minute of time spent at GirraGirra. Wendy and Kim are amazing hosts and they made us feel incredibly welcome. The property is set up with all the mod cons and you literally want for nothing. This country has many excellent farm stay properties and this one is at the very top of that list.

We have become regulars at Girragirra; it’s our go-to destination to relax and unwind, while enjoying a beautiful property, excellent home grown and home made food and wonderfully warm hospitality from Wendy and Kim. They are great hosts who are passionate about their property and their community, and they have a wealth of knowledge and recommendations about what do to, see and eat in the area. The property itself is very comfortable, with everything you need in the kitchen, a lovely, relaxing bathroom and sunny outdoor area in which to laze away the day listening to birds, watching kangaroos and enjoying a glass of wine. We always use the bbq, after purchasing from the excellent local butchers. The produce from the Girragirra garden is always excellent and we get to try new things every time we stay. And the last word goes to Peter, the kelpie - a beautiful creature who always comes to say hello and make us feel at home.
