Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are many things to love about the Promised Land Retreat. To begin with, it's hard to imagine a more rejuvenating setting among the lush farmland and rainforest of the aptly named Promised Land. The chalets are thoughtfully designed to maximise the views and ambience of the area, while offering complete privacy and comfort. Check-in was seamless and in general the chalet was very well decked out. There are a couple of minor things that could be improved (the electric stove in our chat was rather slow, we couldn't get Netflix to work and the pillows could perhaps do with a refresh) but these hardly matter when you are in such a uniquely beautiful spot. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

After 5 nights in the Bower Chalet, it was hard to pack up and leave. The Chalet is brilliantly designed so you always feel a part of nature and it’s surrounds. We spent most of the time on the deck looking to the hills and enjoying the beautiful array of bird life including the Chalet’s resident Bower birds. This place is a must for those who want to connect with nature while enjoying the comforts of some special accommodation.

My husband and I spent a week here in May 2021. It was perfect. Peaceful and serene with a charming view from our balcony. The chalet itself was very comfortable with luxurious linen and every home comfort. As “city slickers” we loved feeding the chickens every day and being rewarded with still warm fresh eggs. Resident donkeys Alby and Zorro kept a quiet watch over our comings and goings. The communal laundry was a bonus. Best of all were the beautiful walks to the Never Never river directly from the property. Buzzing Bellingen was a short drive away. We would love to stay again.

We’ve had a beautiful stay at Promised Land Retreat! Would love to come back. The chalet (we stayed in the Bower) was the perfect setting for a quiet couples retreat. 15 mins into town for local cafes and cute shops. Lovely walks in your backyard. The chalet was perfect and the setting idyllic. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely just what we needed. Our Chalet was so comfortable and private. I highly recommend this place for a romantic weekend getaway. Watching the fog roll in through the valley, watching the Bower Bird frolic by our spa, not a moment was anything less than perfect. We will certainly be returning. The bed was comfortable, sheets luxurious, warm and cosy. Sunlight was warm and welcomed as it entered our Chalet in the morning. Perfect

What a gem. Just divine, remote and pristine. The water was cold yet so refreshing. Shallow areas for small children to swim in deep areas for you to go to the bottom and enjoy the water around you. Not very good if you’re disabled you would have to be carried in. Please please please take any rubbish and keep this place magical! 10 minute drive out of Bello. Parking available

Heaven on earth. Looking out to forested mountains threaded with clouds. The hand crafted buildings are beautifully designed and built. Everything has been well considered. The beds are SO comfy. The peace was extraordinary. We rested deeply which was what we needed. Nearby are wonderful big swimming holes in Never Never Creek and easy walks through the forest. Bellingen is close with its charm restaurants cafes etc.. The Waterfall Way takes you up to the cold high country around Dorrigo. Wonderful waterfalls and national park. The Promised Land feels like a very special place is exquisitely cared for. We’ll go again.

We stayed for 3 nights in this glorious retreat. The views are stunning, the cabin was spacious, beautifully designed and the beds were super comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and we had all our meals in the cabin, having bought provisions from Bellingen, just down the road. The nearby swimming hole is deep and delightful, and the walk along the gravel road up into the forest is quiet and lovely. We will return regularly!

We had a wonderful stay at Promised Land Retreat and the chalet we stayed in was amazing. Very clean, modern and private. It had everything we needed and was the ultimate escape with gorgeous mountain views. Greg made sure we were looked after right from the start and we were lucky enough to take home some fresh eggs as well. Can't wait to return soon.
