We had a great stay here during September. Close to the beach and with super friendly staff, the private rooms are great value (off season) with an excellent view of the ocean and a fireplace! Just be aware that COT buses do not stop in town and it is approximately 30-40 minutes walk to the hostel.

We stayed for two weeks at El Diablo Tranquilo Hostel in October 2016. It’s a friendly place; the staff all very helpful and there’s a good atmosphere among the residents. While Punta del Diablo itself feels quite remote and rural, the hostel is located within easy striking distance of both the beaches and the centre of town. The building has... More

Loved this place. We visiting in the off sesson but fell in love with Uruguay. We stayed in the suites section, best shower in 2 months of travelling!! Also cool well room and a view over the ocean. Neat vibe to the place and great friendly staff. Definately recommend.

We stayed here during Christmas. The room was nice, however I assumed when booking that we had a private balcony. That was not the case and I was very surprised to see people standing right outside our room. It didn't help that our curtains were see-through too. Additionally, our room wasn't cleaned once during our stay, despite handing our key... More

There are dozens of places to stay in this area. El Diablo has suites near the beach (we stayed there) and dorms etc up the hill. The staff is friendly and responsive. The area is pretty quiet in winter (glad El D was open!), but that's a plus too :)

What can I say about my stay at el diablo tranquilo?? I made the trip to Punta del Diablo especially to celebrate my birthday and it could not have been better. Depsite the fact that I arrived at 3am after walking in the rain for 2 hours, the staff were more than happy to welcome me inside. The vibe (and... More

A real treat - visited in the off season so experienced one of the most luxurious hostels at a very reasonable rate. We planned to stay just two nights, ended up staying five!! What makes this place special is the staff. Mark was particularly excellent and attentive, but his team of staff are friendly, informative and welcoming. The rooms and... More

El Diablo tranquilo is a great place to stay. The room was very cosy and there was even a private fireplace you can use on cold days. The location is also very good. You have a nice view of the beach from the balcony and having breakfast there is a great way to start the day. There's free parking in... More
