The "Cuello de Luna" is nicely located close to Cotopaxi and other beautiful peaks. It has nice rooms and friendly staff. It's therefore a great location for your "base camp" if you attempt climbing some of the beautiful mountains. If you just want to hike and enjoy the beautiful scenery it's a nice location to spend some days, too. Ismael,...

Greetings, Cuello de Luna worked well as a cozy basecamp for our acclimitization hikes and Cotopaxi endeavors. The staff was helpful in arranging transportation to key trail heads and local businesses; plus they accommodated our unexpected schedule changes. Dinner with the other guests was very good and our rooms were warmed by an electric heater and a charming fireplace. Sincerely,...

I really loved staying at cuello de la luna. I was travelling by myself and the staff really took care of me. Ismael, one of the owners, was a great company! Oh, and the food was great! I totally recommend!

I landed at Cuello de Luna after booking a couple of climbs/hikes with Yishmail Yashin (spelling?) a seasoned Swiss mountain guide who co-runs the place. This was a thoroughly pleasurable experience. The syncretic hacienda/alpine style of the hotel pleases but the most choosy. It is conveniently located for Cotopaxi. They approached my previous arrangements with flexibility and we re-routed the...

Cuello de Luna is my type of place - intimate, charming, reasonably priced and historic. Tucked into the Ecuadorian countryside about an hour and a half from Quito, it's a great place to stay when visiting Cotopaxi volcano or other sights in the area. It even has a pasture with llamas. The dinner was very good (we had pork) and...

The location of this beautiful "Hacienda style" hotel, just one mile off the Panamericana, across the entrance of the Cotopaxi National Park is perfect. The cozy rooms with fire places or ovens are very clean. The dinner I've had, served by a friendy local woman, was a tipical Ecuatorian dish and very tasty. The location of this hotel is perfect...

After 50 years of global living, work and travel, I have to rate the Hotel Cuello de Luna as one of the five worst properties I've ever stayed in. Outside temperatures were just above freezing and rooms had no heat and fireplaces that didn't function. Hot water wasn't available. Staff were indifferent at best. Food was miserable. Location is 1.5...

I was very pleased with my stay here. I thought the accommodations were outstanding at a very reasonable price. I really enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel. I also did a tour with Ishmael, and I throughly enjoyed my time. I would highly recommend this location, and I will certainly stay there in the future if my travels take me...

Quiet, friendly hotel very close to Cotopaxi and Illinizas. Each room had its own fireplace which was very cozy as the nights at that elevation get chilly. The kitchen served up a very tasty meal and the owner went out of his way to make us comfortable...he was very accommodating. Neat place...will definitely stay there again if I'm ever back...

We stayed at Hotel Cuello de Luna for one night, and highly recommend it. Close to Cotopaxi and other climbs, it is a great base for mountain adventures. An old hacienda that has been converted to an inn, the atmosphere is very appealing, with wood burning stoves in the rooms. Dinner and breakfast were both good. In addition to the...

“While I love the view out of what is probably the best room (the Cotopaxi is right there !) over the years the motorway (in the distance) has become a lot more busy with trucks, and makes this a slightly less quiet room - all is relative in this very quiet countryside !”
