We booked a self-contained bedroom at the hostel. Clean, but very basic. It was 40 thousand per night for two people. Canteen is within walking distance. Food was ok there. Slow service all around, but this is Africa. Plenty of wildlife around the bandas (take a torch with you if you go to the restaurant at night, as bumping into...

The service takes forever--checking in and checking out took over an hour each time, and when we ordered drinks it always took over half an hour to arrive. The room was clean but the bathroom was not well maintained. The rubbish bin lid was broken, and when I gently pulled the shower curtain closed the bar holding it up collapsed....

I was on a university field trip when I stayed here. The wildlife is plentiful and exciting, we had warthogs and water Buck around the room although the hippos at night were a bit more frightening but amazing to see! Cheap, staff and food were lovely, the separate toilet block was not ideal but for the two nights it was...

The shower and toilet blocks are poorly kept with long term accumulation of dead flies and dirt, we had to request the staff to clean them they were that bad. The shower knobs had an electrical vibration when you touched them which was worrying considering you are soaking wet. The rooms were unsafe even if you locked them. On the...

I stayed here for 1 night and will never stay there again. The house itself was pretty ok,but standard not good and horrible showers with hardly no water and it was brown and smelled. We were 11 people in the company who stayed there.Good beds with good mosquito net,but the hostel definitely needs to be freshened up. It was very cheap though...

Stayed for 1 night while visiting QE National Park. Room was VERY hot, and though you can open windows there is not opportunity of cross circulation so stayed hot all night. Thank goodness for intact mosquito netting or we would have had to keep the windows closed. Showers and toilet were adequate - hot water was available, that is always...

Had a great time in 2009. Friendly local people, genuine African tempo. The hostel was in poor state but the location makes up for everything. Is it still operational? I heard they moved to the Katunguru gate. Is there another budget option at the peninsula?

Dirty, noisy, hot and a walk across rubbish strewn grass to the washroom block. Avoid unless you are really up for it. Water impossibly dirty. Hot water has to be turned on and then you wait to have a hot shower, but honestly the smell of the water turns your head!

Bed was comfy enough and mosquito net was good with no holes.. As for the rest, I turned on the tap and brown sludge flowed out, random sink in the bathroom leaked and soaked the floor and we had no electricity! Breakfast was included and was fine omelette and fruit plus tea and coffee. Best part was opening the door...

The place is located at a very good location, you can hear animals at night. You will get what you pay however the place could have been maintained in a better way by not spending too much. If same place was managed by any private agency same would have been better.
