Our family of 6( 4 teenagers) had a fabulous 3 week holiday in Africa and decided to end it with 5 nights in Zanzibar in April even though we were travelling in the 'rainy' season but this didn't deter us. We got a 5 minute light shower one lunchtime and within minutes it was very hot and sunny. Weather was...

This is a totally amazing place. 10 nights here on honeymoon and we both fell in love with the place and the people . The staff are brilliant and do everything they can to make your stay totally fabulous. It's rustic luxury , sipping a cocktail on your handmade lounger watching the monkeys play in the trees is a most...

I'm really late writing this review as we visited Fumba Lodge in February. We travelled as a family ranging in age from 8 - 80!!I'd been looking for accommodation and nothing just seemed right until I found Fumba and I knew we'd be ok.Right from the first email contact with Edwin things went very smoothly - he's very patient answering numerous...

My wife and I stayed here following our climb of Kilimanjaro. We were looking for a nice place to relax and recover following our trek. When we arrived at the lodge we were met by the manager or so he claimed. He then took us to our room and showed us around. My wife and I were going to tip...

We went to Fumba to cap off our honeymoon and we can say that it was an amazing experience. Fumba is located at the west side of the island, so the white beaches are not to be found there. However, we had our own private beach in front of ou baobab suite, which offered us some quiet relaxing without disturbance...

We spent a week at Fumba and had the best time. Such a friendly community and the views are simply incredible: so many shades of blue. It is ideally located on a very quiet corner of the island so we didn't get any touts, just friendly and welcoming locals. It's also under half an hour from the airport which is...

Stayed here as some R&R after trekking Kilimanjaro. Was disappointed with the quality of the room ( none Ocean front twin - no sign of outside showers, lovely bath etc mentioned in other reviews ), shabby pool ( looks great in photos but cracked tiles etc ), cleanliness of food area ( an insect fest at breakfast ), but this...

We have stayed in 5 lodges/hotels in the Zanzibar Archipelago and found that Fumba Lodge was over priced. The Lodge is in need of a refurbishment. At the price that we paid we didn't expect thread bare bed linen and towels . On a positive note our evening meal was always lovely , well cooked and well presented . We...

To finish off our amazing two week anniversary in Tanzania, we spent one night at the Swahili House hotel in Stone Town and two nights at Fumba Beach Lodge (same owner). At both places, the views were astonishing, the food was excellent, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. At Swahili House the sunset from the rooftop bar was...

I was looking at a quiet place to spend the day at the beach not too far from Stone Town and the people I was renting from recommended Fumba Beach. Most of the time when going to a beach is probably more practical (and safer?) to find a resort of some sort so you have the option to order food/drinks...
