I only stayed here one night as I had tried out another accommodation as well. Pros: large room that is decorated nicely and very clean, en suite bathroom with extra large shower (with ledge and this makes a difference for anyone who doesn't love wet floors), high speed ceiling fan and ac (though I could not get my air conditioning... A nice, little, family owned place with its very own charm. We stayed there for 2 nights and we felt very well there! Don't expect the highest level of comfort or service, but for this price I feld that we were getting an excellent value for our money. The location is good as well, although I would not recommend planning... More

This is a very good place to stay. Nice rooms, everything simple but nice. The staff is really friendly. Mohamed, the manager, is a lovely person. Try to get a room at the bak of the hotel, not at the street side. Then you are going to get less noise. You take the nice breakfast at the roof of the... More

I recently finished a safari trip to Tanzania with four days in Zanzibar. I wanted to use Stone Town as a base to visit the island and I found this hotel through Trip Advisor. I was happy to note how much I immediately liked this place! The location is perfect...a quiet street (plus local cats and roosters!) within walking distance... More

The capital city and Stone town often get short shrift for travelers to Zanzibar. This may be more a matter of taste than anything else. Be that as it may, Rumaisa (bouquet of flowers in Swahili, I think) is a lovely little base of operations in the madness and magic of Zanzibar Town. The place is about a year old... More

I highly recommend Rumaisa to anyone looking for a great value and the best service! The owner Mohammad is wonderful. He picked my friend and I up from the airport personally and toured us around that evening. He and his staff helped to personally coordinate all of our excursions. We went on the dolphin and spice tours which I would... More

This was our destination for our first night in Zanzibar before we headed down to Panje, picked purely on the basis of its TA rating. We got a hire car from the airport, the Rumasia is not yet in the satnav 'hotels' list so you have to find the street. No problem, we got straight there and were met by... More

“Noise....it didn't bother me, but there is a public hall next door to the hotel. The music from the wedding reception played great African music (hence why I wasn't bothered). The music was over at midnight (I stayed Thurs-Sat).”
