Detailed Reviews
Heading back to our home in New England after a wedding in Ohio, we wanted to stay at a B&B, instead of a hotel. When we arrived, Steph met us at the front door and was so warm and cordial, we felt like we had known her for a long time. She was thorough with the check-in, offered help with anything we might need, and was the perfect host. Our room was spotless and very charming. The bed was comfortable, and the towels were fluffy. The sitting room upstairs was a great place to watch TV, play a board game or read a book. The next morning, we sat down to an elegant breakfast (Steph asked us when we checked in about our preferences). It included a morning welcome yogurt and local peach parfait, coffee, fresh OJ, an omelet, minced potatoes, locally farmed maple sausage and delicious toast. Both Madi and Steph were so helpful and gave a great review of the history of the house and surroundings. We will definitely be back!

Steph truly was a wonderful host with a teasing humor making us feel like family spending time in conversation during the delicious breakfast they prepared! I can see and also learned just what all she has done to make this classic Victorian inn a perfect place to visit! My hubby was hesitant until he realized private bathrooms were provided to my delight! History of the home is interesting and Steph provides a wealth of information on all aspects of the Village “going’s on” and sites. We loved our room furnishings, bed comfort, sheets, pillows, new shower, and ability to control the temp ourselves. BnBs are so much more fun than the ordinary hotels!

On a whim we booked a weekend away at this B and B. We were glad we did. I got the best night sleep of my life in our cozy and comfortable room. A five Star breakfast was served every morning by Chef Maddie that kept us full all day. This place is close to everything including Del Lago Casino and the Waterloo Outlet mall. We took a quick drive to Ithaca and did some shopping. Great little main street within walking distance with plenty of great places to eat. We felt at home here. There was a great vibe. I can't wait to go back this summer and sit on the expansive front porch. We normally stay in Hotels but this place was so much better. Stephanie and Maddie feel like friends when you leave!

In my decades of travelling experience, this is the most unwelcoming place I have ever stayed. This is the only place where I not only felt unwelcome but was made to feel that I was interrupting the innkeeper.
The list of rules for staying is five pages long and includes "No food is allowed on the second floor, including guest rooms other than water."
A list of cleaning fees for any stains is provided (the furniture is hardly in pristine condition). "Check in after 7pm will incur a $25 fee" "Breakfast is served at 8:45 am sharp" and guests are advised that late arrivals for breakfast may not be served. There are more rules and constraints than army boot camp (and I have been to army boot camp).
The innkeeper is rude, testy, abrasive and confrontational. I would suggest she has neither the temperament nor attitude required for running a hospitality-based business.

This beautiful bed and breakfast provided us with the best night’s sleep of any hotel or B&B we have ever stayed in. Room controlled, silent cool air puts the whole room at the exact comfort level you love without any overhead fans or noise. The sleigh bed in the garden room looks like nothing that would fit in our home (style, size) but I’m already rethinking how I could incorporate one like this in my life. The quilted leather head board tilts back and is perfect for reading in bed. The breakfast was delicious, and we all felt at home. Why would anyone stay in a chain hotel when this is an option?

The rooms are well appointed and with absolutely wonderful The owners of the Gridley are friendly people who are an absolute delight to talk with. Don't miss this B&B!!!! Once again we enjoyed our stay (third one) with Madison and Stephani. The Gridley is a beautifully restored old home, and our hosts (and now friends) go out of their way to make one's stay memorable. Breakfast is always an event, so don't be late in the morning. If you're staying in the area, they can make suggestions on local places to go and experience. The next time our travels take us to the Waterloo area, we will definitely stay at the Gridley.

This is a lovely independent inn. Our room had been recently renovated... by the innkeeper herself. Very tasteful and comfortable. Breakfast in the dining room is a classic bed and breakfast touch, prepared with pride. The innkeeper has her rules, but they are good rules! And the whole experience is great.

The room we stayed in was quite comfortable, with good temperature control and a well-appointed bathroom. The front porch is a nice place to have a glass of tea or wine in the evenings. The tasty breakfasts which start later than many B&Bs we have stayed in (they do say they can accommodate earlier ones, but we didn’t want to put them out), are leisurely and peppered with earthy humor from the hosts that not all will appreciate.

Easy to walk to a number of restaurants. I have to admit that my room was a bit "interesting" in that the shower/tub and sink were at the foot of the bed. Never in my life! Lots of steps to get to the second floor where the rooms are. Roz was GREAT!!!
