This was the second trip in four years that my family stayed at the Dering Harbor Inn (Suite 17). The suite is beautifully decorated, well-maintained and perfect for a young family of four. Mornings and evenings were spent peering at the beautiful harbor from Suite 17's deck and days were spent running around the island to find beaches to relax....

I visited for fourth time Shelter Island and I always choose Dering Harbor Inn because the price and also the view and beautiful rooms. There are other great options in the Island to stay but you need to pay double of what Dering Harbor charge. The Ladies at the counter are so nice and helpful, they will give you all...

Expensive because of the time year but the 'suite' (17) was like stepping back into 1975, dark pine wood, old kitchen appliances, dusty bed blankets. 2 adults and 2 kids slept there and the third bed (2 and 3 we're pull outs) was awful - served up 2 really bad nights sleep. The welcome was friendly, front desk very enthusiastic...

We recently held our wedding here, under a tent on the lawn on the corner of the property. It was great! The setting is extraordinary. We were able to watch a beautiful sunset over the harbor, and the venue benefitted from a constant light breeze which was perfect for a July wedding. There was plenty of space for us to...

We stayed at the Dering Harbor Inn while our kids were in sleep-away camp nearby and it was perfect. Sherrie could not have been more helpful. She answered any questions before-hand, was so welcoming and helpful, you kind of feel like family, they are there to make your stay wonderful. Our room was just what we needed. We stayed in...

My husband and I stayed the end of June and once again it was a wonderful stay. The room was updated in the bathroom and the other rooms are always welcoming. Sherri is the best at helping with reservations, and accommodations. The views of the harbor are spectacular from our porch and we can't wait till October to hopefully return....

My wife and I stayed in a one bedroom waterfront room. The room was very nice, very homey. Quiet location. Without a doubt the main reason to stay here are the views. Spectacular location. Beautiful sunsets. The staff was very nice. Only minor complaint is that there is no restaurant on property. Forces you to go out for breakfast. Many...

Shelter Island is magical and Dering Harbor Inn is one of the island's most beautiful spots. Perched on a bluff overlooking the North Fork, the views of the harbor and sunsets are stunning. It is the perfect spot to get away and relax. My family and I took over the Inn for my wedding weekend in September and I can...

Recently I was fortunate enough to stay in a one bedroom harbor facing villa which was attractively decorated, well priced, and had a magnificent view of the harbor and Greenport. The reason that my visit was so memorable was that I left the top down on my convertible which was parked in the lot behind my villa. Although there was...

Absolutely love this place! My husband and I have been staying here almost every summer for the past 5 years and it is our slice of heaven. Wonderfully situated property...right on the harbor. Sherri and Barbara who basically run the place, could not be more warm and accommodating!!! While the architecture is a bit outdated, the comforts and surroundings of...
