I was not sure what to expect. I wanted to visit the Beekman boys shop and hopefully meet them. This was the most convenient place to stay. We arrived and was greeted by the owner/innkeeper, Garth. After checking in, we immediately gravitated to the 2nd floor veranda for drinks and a view of the town. We also had dinner there...

We made a planned stop in Sharon Springs, NY on July 4th - before heading out to Maine. We had heard about about the hotel from various media outlets prior to coming. We have to say that we weren't disappointed. From making our reservation to check-out, we had a great time to start our vacation. It really was a great...

Passing thru this tiny former resort town- once known for its mineral springs, we spied The American Hotel as we rode past. It didn't take us long to spin the bikes around, park up, and go in. We'd seen the word "pub" outside on its sign, and thought we'd be OK even tho somewhat under dressed for the place- it's...

We called the morning of our stay and got a nice room on the first floor. Doug was there to greet us (Garth was out of town so we did not get to meet him, next time). We only stayed one night but would LOVE to go back again. What an amazing renovation! Spectacular hotel and grounds, very quiet. All...

After a 10 year absence, we returned to the area and stayed again at the American Hotel. We were not disappointed. It is as good as ever. The room was cozy, comfortable and with that old-time feel with modern conveniences. Last but not least, the complimentary breakfast is out of this world - nothing cookie-cutter, very creative and made to...

Doug and Garth, the proprietors of The American, have gone the extra mile to make your stay a wonderful experience. The hotel is an historic building renovated with care and outfitted with comfortable beds, gorgeous linens, cozy room decor and an amazing restaurant. The food is locally sourced and prepared by Lee, the talented chef. Doug and /or Garth prepare...

We found The American Hotel to be the perfect stop-over on our way to Ithaca to pick up our daughter from college. Warm and inviting with clean and cozy accommodations, The American combines first class dining (and a complimentary breakfast not-to-miss!) with top notch service and the feeling that you're staying with family. Owners, Garth and Doug welcome every guest...

Once again my wife and I had a great stay at the American Hotel. We have stayed there the last 5 or 6 years. The staff is excellent. The food is great. You don't want to be in a hurry. Its not fast food. And the owners treat you like family.
