Edith Thomas and the 200+ year old dutch colonial deliver the charm. We stayed in rear room with high ceilings, high plush bed, divan and chock full of knickknacks. Balcony view out over the wild flower strewn field and pond. Lots of wild birds, including a few hummingbirds in the front garden. Great full breakfast. Had excellent dinner at Terrapin....

My wife and I have been coming back to The Bittersweet for years (about 15 years). The house is old, but it has character... this is no Motel 6. The grounds are pretty, the breakfasts are wonderful, "our room" (we always stay in Room 3, because it has views in three directions through the windows) is large and comfortable, the...

We arrived early and Edith greeted us with a smile. I asked for directions to town so that we may return when is was appropriate to check in. When we came back, around 2pm the room was ready. The home is over 300 years old so things do go bump in the night [and day]. We had a Queen size...

Edith Thomas is as hospitable, seasoned, accommodating and warm as any B&B owner I've ever met. This was my girlfriend's first stay in a B&B and we both LOVED IT. Old quaint, quiet and everything an experience like this should be. The room we stayed in was big and nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed. Sure, the bathroom wallpaper...

Yes, this B & B is old, yes there are a lot of antiques, yes, the garden may need attention, yes the rooms are old, but, you will never find an Innkeeper more dedicated than Edith Thomas. She is the tops in my book. From the moment your greeted by Edith throughout your stay, Edith will do whatever she can...

Being a native New Yorker who resides in Miami, a tropical getaway is a few blocks away. My husband and I wanted to take a trip back down memory lane to where it all began. We met at Omega in Rhinebeck and due to seasonal hours we could not stay at Omega for our winter honeymoon, we choose to stay...

My wife took me away, on my birthday, for a long weekend trip to the Rhinebeck and Hyde Park area. Our stay at the Bitter Sweet Bed & Breakfast was wonderful. The accommodations were nice and it is made all the more better by the inn owner, Edith. She does everything in her power to make her inn feel like...

The moment we arrived and scanning over the beautiful landscape there welcoming us with open arms was owner Edith. The beautiful room we had was a room Abraham Lincoln would has stayed. Sunken Master sweet filled with antique furniture , fire place, chandelier, Terrace! with breathtaking views of fields of lavender and greens and nestled within a pond. We changed...

Charming B&B, nestled in. Surrounded by cottage garden, with gentle paths and many places to sit quietly in nature. Floral themes abound outside and in. My cozy room was well appointed with beautiful antique furniture. Breakfast room is bright and welcoming. Owner Edie is sprightly, knowledgable, and heartwarmingly friendly.

A visit to the Hudson Valley, where artists, politicians , old and new money all found beauty that spoke to them, is a wonderful place to recharge. We went there this weekend with several friends and visited FDR home, Storm King Art Center , Olana, home of Frederic Church renowned landscape artist. We ate great meal at Culinary Institute of...
