I've stayed at this campground several times. This campground is located fairly close to many High peaks and isn't far from several stores and restaurants. If you're looking for secluded camping, this is probably not the best place. But, if you're more interested in hiking the high peaks and then having access to hot showers and a nicely run campground,...

Great State Campground. No services to sites, but that was fine. Sites were big and accommodates a 30 ft RV. Everything is at your fingertips, beautiful site. This is near the road but that's fine for this trip.

Meadowbrook NYSDEC Campground is the best bargain in the Lake Placid/Saranac Lake area. Check out the prices of any of the local motel/hotel/lodges/resorts; some are grand, some are flea-bag, but you will spend big bucks. Also check out some of the private campgrounds: you will pay at least twice as much and not get much more. We have stayed at...

The advertisement says "sleeps 8". After we got there we found out the cottage sleeps 5. We are a family of 7 but brought air mattresses so we squeezed on to the floor also. It was musty from being closed up for 2 weeks and one daughter lived on Benadryl the entire vacation. There also was a great abundance of...

In the summer, this is a great spot within about a 5-6 minute drive to Lake Placid. We have stayed here multiple times over the years and enjoyed it although I agree that some sites are probably more desirable than others. We usually aim for a site near the back (35-49 are good candidates) so we are further from the...

A friend and I stayed for 5 days around the 4th of July. It'd be wise to not mistake a public campground with a resort lodge. I feel like it was worth what we paid. We chatted with the check-in staff for about 15 min and felt very welcome. Our specific site was pretty open, but we had no neighbors...

We stayed there for a week-end. The sites are great, good shade and really close to Lake Placid and the Mountains, but the amenities sucked. The restrooms are dirty, not well maintained and there's not even soap to wash you hands!!!! The water in the showers is cold. If you need woods, there's a guy who comes on the campground...

Disappointed all around: Too close to road, noisy bar with drunk people, NEXT TO A PRISON, borders lumber yard, old showers. Was looking for more rustic site to compliment beauty of lake placid area. I enjoyed my trip to the area except for the campground, will not go back.

Not expensive. $14/night. The sites are nice but the showers are very old. The problem with this campground…it is just behind an outside Bar and you can hear their music from anywhere since it is a little campground. I think the staff had a bad experience with campers during the summer since I had a cold welcome for the check...

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the meadowbrook campground for a great weekend in september 2006. We originally reserved at this campground because it didn't cost much for the night. We are "wild camping" fans and we were expecting the total opposite, but were pleasantly suprised. The campground is located in Ray brook, 5 minutes from LAke PLacid, NY. Each...
