What a great place.....a gem. The food.....the staff.....the friends that me made while there.....so very special. We did not ski due to trail conditions.....BUT....we ended up having the best time anyway. Singing Christmas carols by the fire with complete strangers.....was like a Hallmark moment. .The food....wow! Met the chef....loved his food!!!! If you are looking for a family resort....so very...

I was expecting a place that was better maintained. You enter through a beat up, not particularly clean entrance. The grand room is nice but furniture is worn and food pretty basic. The bedroom also was worn, with old polyester bedspreads that seemed unclean. What's good is the awesome location, the trails, the conviviality of the grand room, and the...

My wife and I and in-laws went to the lodge for Thanksgiving day and some cross country the next day. There was not so much snow, but we had the time of our lives. The food was great (the chef really knows his trade), the staff wonderful and the lodge is a great place to stay anytime during the year. This...

The room was warm and comfortable. A great view of 13th Lake and the surrounding mountains from the balcony. Staff was pleasant and very accommodating. The Lodge was very clean and it was so wonderful to sit by the fireplace and relax. A great place to take a nice long walk...very peaceful.

My wife recently stayed an the lodged and just loved it. The main log lodge was build in the 30’s and had been maintained in this style (No phones or TV). The rooms with the balcony’s have great views of the surrounding hills and lake. The restaurant was very good and you are able to enjoy drinks by the fire...

Our room was very comfortable and warm despite it being quite a cold November night. Dinner was a little too salty but breakfast was very hearty and delicious. The Lodge is very comfortable and the entire area is historic. We have passed through Lake George numerous times, but this was our first trip to the Garnet Hill area. Because it...

Terrific place in absolute tranquility. Want to get away from hustle and bustle of life? This is it. The management is wonderful and so welcoming and the rooms are very comfortable and peace and quite reign. The food is superb and what we loved was that you can have wonderfully creative dishes but also simple pub fare. Love every aspect...

We had a most enjoyable stay. The staff was warm and extremely helpful. We were able to hike the trails all around the property and wade at the waters edge while enjoying delicious homemade breakfasts and dinners. The essence of thousands of rolling fires in the garnet encrusted fire place has penetrated the logs of this enchanting lodge and our...

We stayed at Garnet Hill Lodge (under previous ownership) 30 years ago on our honeymoon. We thought we'd do a repeat visit for our anniversary and were happy to find it is still in business. The location is very remote and beautiful, right on the lake with hills all around. The lodge is simple and rustic but reasonably comfortable with...

We've been going to Garnet Hill for the past 4 years. We love it... pristine wilderness around most of the lake, wonderful views, reasonable price, people are very friendly, canoes, bikes, etc included free and so on. Highly recommended. But, excepting breakfast, not the food. Sorry, but, much better is available in North Creek at barVino... which quite excellent, NYC...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Garnet Hill Lodge is a 4 season hotel and resort in the central Adirondacks. Situated on a gentle hill overlooking pristine Thirteenth Lake, Garnet Hill Lodge offers a storybook Adirondack setting for individuals, couples, and families to escape from the hectic pace of everyday life and surround themselves with the serenity of nature. Our guests can choose to actively engage in hiking, mountain biking, swimming, paddling a kayak/canoe... Or just settle into an Adirondack chair on the expansive front lawn with a good book if preferred. Winter opens up 50k of beautifully groomed cross-country ski trails, countless miles of back-country and snowshoe trails. As well as 15 minutes to downhill skiing at Gore Mountain. Our main Log House Lodge is reminiscent of an Adirondack Great Camp. The original structure was built in 1936 and offers a casual, friendly atmosphere with Bed and Breakfast guest service. Our location provides convenient access to many vacation activities, but best of all, it is a unique opportunity for couples and families to reconnect over wholesome outdoor activities. Our full service restaurant is open to the public and nourishes all our guests with freshly prepared, hearty lodge meals. ... more   less
