I've always felt guilty because I never left a review for Porto Fira Suites.

I know it's a long time ago and the owners then probably stll aren't there although they were youngsters!

We were there in May 2010 and it was a wonderful wee hotel.

It's a bit down from the main street if you need to carry your suitcases but we hadn't known that they're happy to carry your cases from the bus down to that fabulous view.

Our room had an absolutely wonderful view with a balcony and everything you needed. The bed was maybe a tad hard as it is lying on a volcanic floor so hopefully they've invested in some thicker mattresses. Wasn't really a problem; just a note.

We had booked for 4 nights and the hotel is just brilliant, ie in the middle of the restaurants, views, etc. with no smell of the donkeys.

On the second day we decided to book the yacht (the name of the company I honestly can't remember but they were brilliant).

After a wonderful time for 3 hours or so on the yacht and climbing up the volcano, we arrived back around 7.00 in the evening.

My knees are stuffed so I tend to charge off downwards. My wife tries to keep up but can't. Unfortunately she tried too hard this time, fell on the way down, and, after an horrific time (in the so-called hospital with the worst nurses I have ever come across) my wife managed to receive 17 stitches.

Major panics of course as there was no way we could stay in Fira. Back to the hotel and I told them we had to leave two days earlier.

They were absolutely terrific. Got a chap to take the bags up to the taxi and cancelled the last two days' payments.

We managed to get a flight to Athens to a proper hospital where my wife received tremendous attention.

Before that we had booked a Fira tour with a so-called travel agency. Must have a look and see if I can find them. Naturally we had to cancel that tour but they were absolutely disgusting and refused to even pay back a small amount.

Porto Fira Suites?

Wonderful.

My husband and I had a fantastic time at Porto Fira Suites. The room was spacious and tasteful, the view from our room and the pool was second to none in Fira. The staff just wonderful. They made us feel so welcome. Christine recommended a number of restaurants which we loved, and the cocktails at the bar are the best we tasted.

We also felt very safe in the current Covid environment, which was important for us. The staff thoroughly cleaned our room every morning, always wore masks and kept social distance and breakfast was served on our balcony (selected in advance from the menu), which was a lovely feature at no extra cost.

Overall, I couldn’t speak highly enough about Porto Fira Suites, and would recommend it to anyone. Please do be aware that there are quite a few steps involved, but if this bothers you, you probably shouldn’t visit Fira!

The Porto Fira Suites are the perfect place to discover Santorini. The location means it’s very easy to walk to bars and tavernas in Fira. Our room (no 20) had a very good view of the famous sunset and was quite private. The staff were extremely friendly and very, very helpful giving advice about what to do and where to go. They helped us organise a cruise around the island (with Caldera Cruises) which I would recommend. Breakfast on your own balcony every morning with great Greek food was a special highlight. I would definitely recommend this place.

For those concerned about COVID precautions - the staff take this very seriously and all measures you can imagine are in place from the driver from the airport to the reception or bar staff.

Booked the transport to meet us at the ferry port and a man from the hotel was at the car drop off point waiting for us. He carried our suitcases to the hotel down the steps and slopes for us. The hotel is just beautiful in every single way. The room we had was just lovely, it was built into the cliff and the shower was huge. We didn’t have a hot tub but we certainly had the most stunning view.
The butler service at breakfast was amazing served to your balcony by an absolutely lovely waiter who was really kind and took pictures of us. His service was on time with the food being lovely, hot bacon and eggs, toast and jams, coffee, cereals and fruit juices. The time and breakfast you book when you arrive and this stays the same the whole time you are there unless you change it.

The pool was 98 steps down from our room but once there it was amazing, Never over crowded and we got chance to talk to other people from Canada, America and Ireland which was nice. To offer drinks or food you ring from a poolside telephone and the waiter brings them down! The bar staff were efficient and incredible working with a huge smile in such heat!

For 60 euros for 2 people we had a 3 course evening meal delivered to our balcony with butler service and candles… this hotel was just perfect!!!!

For 40 euros the hotel organised a moped for us, we went to Oia during the day and again back at night….Oia is the most beautiful place in the world and is a must see in Santorini…. We took the moped to the waters edge in Oia and had the most stunning mussels and shrimps … so fresh!

Fira has more nightlife… if you choose Fira I totally recommend this hotel as we were treated so well and the location is the BEST!!!

Stay for the view! We enjoyed our family suite at Porta Fira. The room was very large, modern and clean with comfortable beds, jaw dropping views and a fantastic rain shower. The king bed felt like memory foam and I slept very comfortably each night. My kids enjoyed their twin beds in the living room and slept well. It was nice to have a lot of space to spread out. The bathroom was laid out well with two sinks, two closets, robes, slippers, water closet and separate rain shower. Our balcony was semi private and we enjoyed breakfast with a view each morning. The pool was greatly appreciated after long days. Our family suite was close to 80 steps from the lobby so not for those with disabilities. The hotel did an amazing job getting our luggage up and down the stairs. No easy task. The air conditioning worked great and the room is very much soundproof. Fira can be lively at night and once we closed the windows we couldn’t hear the music. Breakfast was delivered on time and delicious. I would stay here again given the clean and modern accommodations, amazing sunset and caldera views and easy access to great dining!

Fabulous location , superb views , clean and nice hotel with Covid measures in place and with well appointed suites . They upgraded us on arrival - always a bonus and gave Us a late checkout as the next guest was in due much later. Staff were extremely helpful , professional and courteous , Christina and Sara were fab and so were the helpers and cleaners . Breakfast was sumptuous with every detail taken care off. Dear Guest, Thank you for having taken the time to write a review for our hotel! It is true that our main priority this challenging year was to provide all necessary measures against Covid19. Our housekeeping staff was trained on how to clean efficiently a room, in order to be safe for the next guests we would welcome. Our main priority is our guests' satisfaction and if we have the chance, we may provide a free upgrade, a late check out and much more. Lastly, we would like to thank you for your kind words regarding the location, the views and the breakfast. Look forward to welcoming you once again in the future! Kind Regards, Sophia Kotsifa

Let me save you the time and stress of trying to pick the best place to stay in Santorini, because I already went through it.

Like you, I was looking for the best views, walkability to town/shops/restsurants, and yet I wanted an impressive room and cool decor. I also needed space for a family of four (2 adults and 2 teens)…of course, all at a reasonable price considering the “wish list”.

I found it all…and more at Porto Fira Suites!

From the initial, friendly communication prior to our arrival to the absolutely amazing service they provided to us during our stay, the staff alone is a reason to stay here! I need to make sure I acknowledge Penelope, Angela, and Tina as they deserve to be recognized. They hired and negotiated a car for us, told us every excellent restaurant to try (informing us of one just as they had heard that it had opened for the season that day), places to visit, and providing me an excellent bottle of wine just in time for the amazing sunset…seen right from the balcony of my room overlooking the volcano (no need to go anywhere!—we went to see sunsets at a few locations but still enjoyed them from the tranquil spot of our large balcony.)

I did see some of the other top hotels I researched and I was so pleased with my choice!

Fira is definitely the preferred town and has more going on in my opinion with shops and restaurants.

At Porto Fira Suites, the breakfast is so impressive. They bring it too you every day based on the time you tell them. You can choose from such wonderful selections, and multiple categories. We looked forward to it every day and switched out some of our choices to try different things. The whole island lost electricity one day yet Porto Fira Suites still got us breakfast without skipping a beat. Compliments to the Chef!

There are many choices in Santorini and I looked and looked but now that I’ve been to Porto Fira Suites and experienced the hospitality, cleanliness and amazing views and architecture/decor of the hotel…I know I made the best decision. My entire family agreed, even the kids!

Beautiful villas. We were two families so we had all three villas - a three bedroom plus 2 one bedrooms. The one bedroom villas have separate entrances and are up an exterior flight of stairs. It worked for our families because our kids are teenagers, with young kids it would be tough. The bathrooms are very Greek - mostly sit down shower heads. Sara was very good at making reservations and arrangements for us, even late at night. Breakfast is included and very plentiful - too much most mornings! The villa is down from most of the shops and restaurants, about a five minute uphill walk.

We just loved this classy little place. Pristine white suites scatter down the rocks, in Santorini style, and inside each is a cavern of uniqueness.
The pool, with its own cave, sits infinitely over the half-moon bay & cluttered rocks.
With the most amazing & helpful staff, why would you stay anywhere else?
The sunset was perfect in July.
Fira is cute & bustle, allowing us to decline the tourist lure of Oia.
Steps on steps on steps will compensate for an over-indulgence.

Although I was staying next door at the Athina Suites, I made reservations for dinner at the Fira Suites restaurant. It was outstanding.

Starting with my conversation earlier in the day with Sarah the manager, I made an evening reservation for myself and two friends. We arrived at 7pm and our table was ready and beautifully set. The restaurant is small and very intimate in its design.

Alex waited on us for the evening. He was great. He made excellent suggestions and had full knowledge of the menu. He recommended a nice bottle of wine for the table and his recommendation was excellent.

There was also Angela who was the hostess. She was gracious and made us feel like we were special guests.

Overall it was a wonderful evening and we will definitely go back again. Thank you to the team for making it a special night.

In my opinion the BEST time for Santorini is Sep / Oct. Not as hot and the tourist are gone (less crowds) . Keep in mind some places shut down in the winter. It is a very seasonal destination.
