My wife and I have visited L'Auberge des Montagnes on 9 of the past 10 years (on 1 year there was no room at the inn). We have booked to go again in July. The beautiful residence in superbly decorated and maintained. The rooms are typically French in size but very well appointed and decorated. The restaurant is superb, worth... More

We were recommended this auberge by a local cafe as we had checked into a dump of a B&B near the ski resort of Le Lioran. This was an amazing find in the midst of rolling hills of The Cantal region. We had a lovely spacious bedroom full of charm. Some people may find the profusion of knick knacks a... More

Mmm...... Did I read the negative reviews of this jewel of a find before I went? Yes. Did it make me want to change my mind? No. Was I glad when I arrived? Yes. Would I go again? Too damn right I would; we are off for a night on Wednesday! I am not sure where the negative reviews can... More

We were a party of six who spent two weeks in Pailherols, making the Auberge our base. Some things were good, like the cleanliness and in general the food, but other things like the jacuzzi didn't work for the whole time we were there and there was no mention of the advertised ride in a horse and trap and the fact... Life is short and there’s a lot to see, so we don’t go to many places twice. This was our 3rd visit to L’Auberge Des Montagnes. We have only visited in the first week of January, and it should be noted that this a quiet time at low-season prices. We have always chosen to do the ‘Sejour des sports divers’,... More

A well run hotel with lots of facilities. Beware staying down the road and eating in the main building, also limited menu in annexe down the road. Best to pay a little extra and stay and eat in the main building

The whole thing is a bit pretentious for the area and smells like a light rip-off. There are plenty of hotels and bed and breakfasts around that do not pretend as much but deliver much better...and at a much cheaper price!

We live 20 minutes from this place and we absolutely adore it. If you are met and greeted by the lady of the house (monsieur is head chef) or her daughter (who's twin sister is also cheffing in the kitchen), or son-in-law, your evening is going to be great. Lovely attentive service, great quality of food, super ambiance. Not so... More

We wanted to visit the Cantal department and selected this hotel listed on Logis de France, but booked through the hotel website (communication was in fact excellent). The hotel is situated in a quaint little village in the mountains. It has good indoor and outdoor swimming pools and beautifully decorated rooms with excellent facilities. The hotel is comprised of 3... More

“The room with the stars, on their website pictures it a delightful room with a smaller room off it which could accommodate two children. It has a balcony with a view overlooking the small village which is very quiet. The room as the Clos are modern but they are outside the village. We enjoyed this room very much”
