A bit on the pricey side but totally worth it. We went there in early April during rainy season and even though there was rain and a strong sea current in the middle of our snorkeling trip, we had a great time visiting. The staff is very professional and knowledgable about the preservation efforts. I highly recommend it for anyone...

We had been on a photo safari in the Samburu, Lake Turkana and Tanzania for over 3 weeks, so we took an R&R trip to Zanzibar (you really have to go there) and finished with 3 nights on Chumbe. Eco often mean 'what am I doing in this dump', but Chumbe is Eco the way Eco should be. The accommodation...

4 Nights stay at Chumbe with 2 dear friends Poppet and Karin (Husbands who don't snorkel left in S.A) ..The excitement of the ferry crossing and seeing your "own island" with just the 7 bungalows..WOW.. Welcomed by the friendliest staff and first late afternoon snorkel an hour later..Especially arranged by Chumbe (neap tide makes 2 snorkel sessions a day possible...

Most definitely the highlight of our two-week trip to Zanzibar, Chumbe Island was a very special experience! We only stayed for one night but wish that we had stayed longer. The snorkeling was exquisite (the best we had ever experienced) and the scenery postcard pretty! The perfect mix of leisure and adventure as we lazed around, went snorkeling, enjoyed some...

Chumbe is huge gem in the Tanzanian crown of natural resources worth visiting! The pristine reef provides an incomparably beautiful and stimulating experience. Our 81 year old friend finished the second day of snorkeling saying he had never been happier - and we all felt the same way. The marine biodiversity is intensely amazing. The accommodations are comfortable, clean, and...

Robinson Crusoe on luxury trip. We stayed in bungalow 6, one of 7 amazing eco bungalows on the island. It had two floors. Living room, bath with toilet and shower at ground floor and bedroom at second floor. From the bed you have a great view over the ocean and the beach, which is only a few steps away. The...

We finished our month in East Africa with three nights on Chumbe, and I think it was our favorite place. For us, it was the perfect combination of natural and luxurious.Others may want more luxury, others may want it more primitive. For us, it was perfect. We were disappointed to learn, shortly before our visit, that the reef had bleached...

So let's start with the don't: Don't come here if you want nature tailored to our luxury needs. But by all means: Do come here if you want to experience the luxury of being somewhere on nature's terms, and to completely unwind in magical surroundings. The rustic elegance of the bungalows, the snorkling that is timed with the tide, the...
